Halo The Master Chief Collection |OT| Halo Never Died, It Was Just Missing In Action

Even with all the issues with the game I still wish I was back home playing along with all you guys. But I at least have Halo 2 PC on my laptop but holy hell is it difficult on Legendary. I can't get anywhere without dieing millions of times first.

If this patch doesn't fix at least a few of the issues this game is getting refunded.

I am not paying full digital retail for the game to be partially broken.

I love halo, but I don't like this.

He works at crystal dynamics but did work for 343 for a while after leaving bungie.

Yeah that dude enjoyed that red text on b.net a little too much.

I'm sure plenty of people are waiting for Christmas to get the Xbox one and mcc. I would assume the game will be in a fully functioning state by then, if not sooner.

I think is truly a case of early adopters getting burned hard. If you truly enjoy halo, why not wait until a few patches come out?

I truly disbelieve that this game will remain broken forever and end up quickly in bargain bins. It would be stupid to sell it.

Understatement of the century.

Got Perma'd on B.net by him when it was supposed to be a temporary two week ban back right before the release of Halo 2 and people were talking about map leaks. Was never able to appeal to Bungie to correct the situation.

Memories...

My mood for playing Halo has been gone since sunday, it's a shame because I really wanted to get into and enjoy H2A MP a ton, I may just settle with a dozen matches if the next update doesn't do it's job.

SP is great fun but the co-op lag doesn't do it favors.

This "you're not a real Halo fan unless you ___" stuff is silly. You can be super Halo fan and still be disappointed in a Halo product's handling or the product itself.

A lot of people are just seeing MCC issues. A lot of Halo fans? This is their second, third, or fourth time 343 has told them one thing and done another. For some the Halo Trust Us Fund is now empty.

Yea Booshka, I cleared the Wraith part of Two Betrayals out, I think that level took me the most time. Close to 2 hours, lol.

To revisit yesterday's conversation, you're right in that the Cage wasn't really a good map, but I have to admit that it was one of the better maps for SWAT in Reach.

:D

Campaign checkpoints not saving issue is still a problem at least on H2:A. It seemed to be working for a couple of days but my progress through the first High Charity level was wiped last night.

Getting out of the council chamber took a pretty long time on Legendary and now I have to do it again :(

Legendary on Halo 1 is the only way to play that game.
Legendary on Halo 2 is a bit of a chore but can be fun in between the massive walls of frustration I hit every few encounters. It's almost like a puzzle game.

Why release a patch if it doesn't fix at least a few of the issues? I'm optimistic for the patch, especially because I'm almost done with Sunset Overdrive. If the game is still broken, I'll have to start AC:U and continue to wait (assuming Unity's next patch arrives soon)

I just don't understand the big Halo fans that are selling the game.

You know you're gonna buy it again when its fixed.

I don't really get it either. It's a re-release of 4 Halo games that are the same now as they would be 5 years from now. It's basically archiving these games so they can continue to be played for this console generation. What difference does it make if they ran poorly for the first 1-2 weeks in the long run? Maybe people are just reselling and waiting for it to go on sale to buy it again and save $15? Or maybe people just like to be dramatic.

refund period is 7-30 days. makes sense to return it within that window to make some of the money back and pick it up cheap later.

i tried to do it with destiny but my honeymoon period outlasted the return window

Anybody remember the glitch with Elites in Warthogs that would let them physically leave their character's body, allow them to grab a flag, and then instantly teleport back to their body with flag in hand for a quick score? Yeah, I remember it happening quite a bit.

Halo 2's launch was smoother than MCCs but lets not pretend it was a smooth launch and that Bungie didn't take their dear old sweet time fixing some things.

Dude, that glitch. Just brought back some hilarious memories. There were some wild bugs in Halo 2 when it launched. At least, though, the game was reliably playable. There were just a sizable number of exploits.

Things like:

Flag grabbing through the wall on Zanzibar

Flag bouncing using the conveyor belt on Colossus (this one took skill, it was so satisfying)

Rocket/sword lunging

And most of those glitches, including the fix for people using standby, took almost 6 months to get out of the game. The Colossus flag bounce, BXR, double shot, and other superbounces straight up never got fixed.

You guys know the campaign checkpoints are fucked, why do you keep relying on it? I just finish the level, none of them take more than a couple hours on legendary, or you could just pause it and leave the box running.

And get it cheaper. There's talk of MCC being $30 during the digital black Friday sale.

Why pay full price for this shitty game?

Refund. Re buy when it's much cheaper. If it even works by that time. Which is doubtful.

The list of 343 fuck ups is just growing.

I remember screaming in celebration once standby was fixed as someone tried to do it on a Midship slayer match.

Anyone remember the days of standoffs with Assault?

Every time the game was going to end, some asshole flew to the top of the level using a glitch and hid/held onto the bomb.

People with mics would try to persuade the bomb holder to drop it in order to get a fair win, but sometimes words weren't easy as some talks went on for hours.

You need to stop saying this. That was ten fucking years ago. Console online infrastructure has changed since then, patches are day one on a lot of games.

Too many people giving 343 a pass on this game. Sure it's not that big of a deal, doesn't make the problems any less annoying.

Times like this I miss old salty halogaf

Salty Halogaf would get nothing done besides being more negative about the game before it's fixed.

I'm not optimistic as I have very little faith that 343 can actually make a game after this
, the whole thing stinks of too many people doing separate things then slamming them together at the last moment and hoping for the best.
I think a lot of the blame is on Microsoft who obviously pushed the game out before it was ready and now we're seeing what happens when you do that.

To be perfectly honest I am looking into returning my copy as I don't really want to play the campaign, I love them but I have played them to death,
I bought this game so I could play online with my old Halo friends and maybe the chance to meet new people that loved the game,
the fact that I cannot do that means that this purchase in it's current state is a digital coaster that's wasting my HDD space.

I really hope they do sort it out, because it would be absolutely great to play my favorite games again, but I won;'t be holding my breath.

Plus $60 is a lot of money to pay for something that doesn't work, I'd rather get something working with that money and pick up halo again at a later date.

It's not going to be $30 with that sale. There's no way MS would give 50% off on a first party game that came out less than a month ago, even if it's black friday.

But yea, I don't want to pay full price for it. Could barley find matches by myself, and rarely found matches with friends. When I did find matches with friends we got split into different teams. That on top of progress not saving, random crashes, missing UI functionality, other misc. bugs just really killed my excitement for the game. I'll buy it back once I know it's working correctly and it's on sale.

Then people need to stop comparing MCC's launch to Halo 2's launch and pretending that Halo 2's launch was some sort of bastion of perfection when it had it's own slew of problems.

I don't think a 10 year difference in time also makes a 6 month wait for bug fixes acceptable either (it wasn't even really acceptable then). All of the tools for Bungie to get shit fixed in Halo 2 were readily available to them back then.

A patch doesn't mean a 100% working fix, it could just be tacked on tweaks which make it half work, we won't know until it's out.

Also for a game to be released with broken online only to have a team of people scramble for a week fixing it via a patch isn't the best thing in my books.

Fan or not, why would you intentionally buy something you know doesn't work. Then what, just keep posting that they suck because it doesn't work? This game shipped not working and needed a 15GB update to patch in pieces of the core game. Devs and Publishers, all of them need to start to be put on notice that it's not going to fly anymore.

where did you find the second episode? I was on halo channel last night and the only video, aside from the first episode, I could find was the making of or w/e.

Hmm that's weird. Under the 'FEATURED' tab click on the view episodes button on Halo: Nightfall and both episodes should be there.

Don't forget Flag Grabbing through the wall on Beaver Creek! That and the Colossus Flag Bounce seemed to happen in my games pretty damn frequently.

You guys know the campaign checkpoints are fucked, why do you keep relying on it? I just finish the level, none of them take more than a couple hours on legendary, or you could just pause it and leave the box running.

OLD SCHOOL. I remember having to do just this for that damn "Endurance" mission on Star Wars Rogue Squadron II. It was like a 4 to 5 hour affair and you couldn't save your progress. GameCube stayed on overnight.

wasnt most of the day one patch for MP? seems logical that they rushed around for 2 weeks trying to finish it and broke it during crunch time

Nope.

No one expected it to not work until the weekend before release when people got the game early -- but even then the assumption was that they might have still had to tweak things behind the scenes for launch.

No one expected it to be this bad.

Once the Colossus flag bounce became common knowledge it pretty much became the only way to play CTF on that map because actually taking the flag down the "intended" pathways usually didn't work (especially once BR starts became frequent). I remember a lot of CTF games on colossus ending in 0-0 ties before that bounce became common knowledge.

The people familiar with a series are the most like to have quality expectations. It's implied that if they're selling (or more likely, returning) the game they would probably only get it again at a lower price.

Why are so many games being released all unfinished and fucked up? Not liking this trent.

I think part of the reason is because there are publishers that still think if a game isn't released right before Christmas, people won't buy it. So games get rushed out early in order to get their cozy seat in the holiday lineup.

In this case, they tasked multiple studios to port 4 games to the Xbox One and also remaster one of them. Then they brought in a revamped version of the multiplayer from 2. Then to bring it all together, they have a UI that allows you to move through all 4 games. There's a lot there that could break very easily, especially since almost all the work was sourced across multiple studios.

a week in today's market is an eternity

Better than people defending 343 when they've done little else but ruin the series.

They deserve all the negativity. They fucked up. I can't help but feel for those people who took time off for the launch.

the collection is good but it just doesn't work as intended. it's like the chef preparing a well cooked meal and then dropping it on the way over.

at least you'd get a free meal afterwards

I confess that I am giving 343 a pass for the state of the collection at launch. Mainly that's because they've been communicating constantly and seem to be scrambling to put a patch together to fix things, but also because I feel like I still got a good deal when I got all 4 games for $60, even though the functionality is poor in some areas. If it was more expensive, I might be more upset. Also, there's just so many other games to play in the meantime right now that I'm able to patiently wait for 343 to fix MCC.

I get that people are upset that they bought a product that doesn't work as intended, and they are perfectly entitled to get their refunds and rage on forums. I'm just saying that not everybody feels that it's wrong to excuse 343, and it's ok to have different opinions on the matter.
