Halo The Master Chief Collection |OT| Halo Never Died, It Was Just Missing In Action

This is arguably the most difficult part of CE's campaign on Legendary. I'm pretty sure I literally had nightmares based on the stress I was experiencing at this part back in the day.
It all comes down to how you attack it. I run to the rocks on the right with the rocket launcher and take out the wraiths first. Then use the sniper rifle to take out elites (hunters if possible before ammo runs out) - gotta save some ammo for second wave of enemies, including gold elites. For the invis elites, i hop back on the ghost. Then it's just clean up. But I think it's also possible to hug the right wall, if you time it with the flood distracting the covenant, to go straight for a banshee. I think the opening section of two betrayals is worse, perhaps tied with the Keys level.

Actually, Cliffy hates GAF. Devs often post on GAF, albeit often under internet anonymity. Stinkles is probably MIA because his game is broken. I wouldn't want to deal with all this shit either if I were him...

Kinda like how Urk disappeared when people started figuring out how hollow Destiny was, and Urk was a Gaffer before he was even at Bungie.

Urk hasn't really posted a ton since prior to Reach launching, not that I blame him.

Wait matchmaking works now?!

I just said fuck it and tried again after having absolutely zero luck finding a match searching multiple hours over the past few days. The game put me in 3 matches in a row without much delay and I was shocked. Knock on wood....

It comes and goes like this for me, it's not going to be fixed until the patch.

I thought they stopped doing things like this.

They did for Destiny I believe but how can they not issue a refund when the game is so messed up. They effectively sold an incomplete product.

Even when they get matchmaking sorted in terms of speed they also need to sort out player counts, dedicated servers, parties and actually getting the ranked playlists.

Probably going to be the last time I buy a multiplayer focused title day one.

Haven't found anything today. Only two games yesterday (3 the day before). It's been getting worse for me.

Too many cooks spoil the broth it seems. I think they were pushed HARD to release day and date 10 years after Halo 2 launch. The list of bugs found 24 HOURS after the release of the MCC made my heart ache. I remember watching the Halo 2 documentary on the Steelbook limited edition disc in awe. The attention to detail that went into the game astounded me and these designers, developers and general employee's instantly became my hero's (Frankie included ;-)

I remember seeing racks and racks of Xbox developer kits running instances of the game overnight 24/7 to see where the game crashes and any bugs that were found the next day. They had real game testers jumping up and down on the same spot over and over again to see if anything broke the game. REAL game testing; and it told. Apart from the occasional exploit (BXR, superbounce) the game ran like liquid gold with no jankiness. Nintendo level of polish.

Now look at us... Murdoch is a sad panda. A Panda that isn't looking forward to the next Halo release like an excited teen. A sad panda indeed.

This is....... I can't even.

I played two team slayer matches on Ivory Tower. Man how I've missed that map. My team one both times, once when we were a three man team vs 4. Feels good to win again.

I'm truly curious to know what he meant by "we know we owe you". Are we getting some additional content? Compensation? Early H5 beta access? Something would be cool. I'm still keeping the faith in spite of some potentially nefarious intentions on the corporate end of things.

I think there's been a few too many posts wondering about the "we owe you" line.

The sole focus at this stage should be getting this game fixed, and by fixed I mean matchmaking fully fixed, any campaign glitches/bugs all fixed and finally improved/optimized performance across the board where necessary (i.e. co-op), before even thinking about additional content.

Stinkles "optimisms" line is where it's at. Hopefully he or someone from 343i will provide an update on the state of things today.

I hear what your saying, and that's absolutely a given. You are correct, before we talk about compensation of any sort, we should worry about this game getting off the ground. In all honesty, I'm truly expecting that line to mean "we know we owe you this fix in a timely fashion".

So I've been playing Halo CE Singleplayer to pass the time until MM is fixed. Here are the issues I've encounted while playing, everyone else feel free to share yours.

- Terminals not working
- Skipping Guilty Spark level
- Sound not working after viewing the Jenkins cutscene, forcing me to restart the game
- Wraiths appearing to be blown up from far away until you get close on the level Two Betrayals
- Game crashing during Keyes

Yeah.. hopefully Halo 2 runs better than CE.

You mean when wraiths are sitting, unoccupied and without their anti-grav and little wings flared out?

Because that's a thing, and certainly not an issue.

The problem is that, when you put it all together like this, it sounds like 6 months' work, not a couple of weeks. Especially the (I agree, needed) performance improvements.

I'm actually excited to see if it's fixed by the weekend. It would be perfect timing next to having Smash for me :)

How is the split screen co-op? Are the frame rate issues really unplayable bad?

Halo 1 AE dips under 30, gets really rough in outdoor areas. Not really unplayable but pretty shitty and not really excusable. Halo 2 AE runs pretty smooth. Didn't notice any real performance problems. Both Halo 1 and 2 have guns clipping through the camera sometimes when you reload or move really quickly. Pretty amateurish looking when it happens.

Halo 3 is running smooth right now, we're about half way through. The level of detail on objects is atrocious though, there is a ton of object pop in about 20 feet out. Haven't hit Halo 4 yet. She never played Halo before so we're taking it game by game.

Agree with both of you.

I'm in the opposite situation of the "I want/got a refund" camp, in that I'm waiting to purchase an Xbone + MCC bundle, and as I love Halo (well except for 4) I really want 343i to pull through.

I got the Bone specifically for MCC. I had no incentive before because the only other game I wanted was MGSV which is cross platform. I was rather pleased because now I have a reason to buy a current gen copy.

I've been playing through campaigns for the most part waiting for a fix. I'm almost done with H3. One campaign left before I'm completely dependent on MM. Granted I've been getting MM to work pretty consistently, it's definitely not where it should be.

I got into the first game I've been able to play all week, actually made it to the end, then it crashed to a "match incomplete" screen and locked up my entire Xbox. What a waste of money

Just wanted to demnstrate how fucking dumb automatic weapon starts are, even on a small map. If you look at the score the game just started and guess which team got the BR's and map control first?

I coulda melee'd him but I wanted to demonstrate how dumb the weapon starts were.

SMG's I probably woulda killed him but the score wouldn't be too much different.

This is why I like seeing the AR in Halo 5 having a bit more punch to it. That being said, the SMG needs a shorter range but Frankie already said that gun was getting revamped. That clip was ridiculous and an all too familiar scenario.

I was in college when H2 came out originally, and while I was effective playing it, I still think the weapon balances were terrible. Yes, I understand energy weapons strip shields, bullets strip health. I was very good at it. I still think the divide between their efficacy is overplayed in terms of game design.

Man, what a shitty tweet.

I'd agree with him. In all honesty how many threads have anything good to say about games or when criticizing them do so in a constructive manner? The biggest threads on this site are graphics comparisons and shitty topics that try to make a larger issue out of some small thing. Compare all of that to the relatively isolated corners of neogaf that display some small amount of optimism and/or constructive criticism and I can see why someone would make the statement Cliff did.

Don't really care about cliffy b's opinion, at all. More importantly, is MCC still shit? Or is it fixed yet.

You hit the nail on the head. I started coming here when I saw there were leaks and info I wouldn't find elsewhere. Recently I made an account, not sure why, I think in response to someone asking about learning programming, which I never responded to, but I digress. I really just end up closing the page and going back to other things because of exactly what you posted. It's extremely negative about even the smallest thing in most threads. The gta grass thread is one of those. I wish there was more gaming discussion and news instead of the constant arguing about sales and technical aspects. But hey, apparently that's what most are into around here and so that's where things go.

I've loved mcc even with the glitches and I'm hoping 343 fixes most of the issues when this patch goes live. The small tastes of MM you can get are like drugs.

Cliffs not wrong. As someone who's hoping to break into the industry at some point or another I'm more than willing to admit I've probably got a laundry list of completely unsympathetic posts here. But that's just the nature of consumer vs developer. When you reach a point where you're selling your product for peoples hard earned dollars, they have every right to be critical.

By the same token, devs are more than welcome not to read those criticisms either. They have to understand what form of criticism has the most value, and how certain forms of communication could hurt their ability to create. It's not a very kind world out here.
