I bought an Xbox one during that pre Black Friday best buy deal, largely because I was interested in MCC, but haven't picked up the game because of everything I've been reading in this thread. I imagine by the time the issues are actually fixed, the community will be dead, so I dont imagine I'll ever pick it up..
Maybe I'll get the re-remaster they'll likely release next generation
Luckily I'm having a lot of fun with Black Flag and CoD: AW so I'm not disappointed with my Xbox purchase.

I bought a SO bundle up in Vancouver BC over the weekend and picked up MCC yesterday. It's really the only reason why I picked up the One and I got to say from playing about 10 matches of team slayer and big team battle it feels so good to be back to old school Halo.
That said Halo 2 classic seems to play and feel the best. The nostalgia hit hard playing SMG starts on Lockdown lol. I can't wait to keep playing this for years to come and though the game feels far from complete what works and when it works there's nothing that comes close.

That's just a lie. I got a refund, so have several several other GAFer's.
My CSR told me I couldn't get a refund initially because they changed their Halo refund policy because it was being abused.
Edit : Xbox Support just has an endless supply of excuses it seems.
Does it at least say "Unlocking" on your achievements list?

Nope.
Now that I think about it, because of the Solo/Co-op glitch, that might be why it's not unlocking. Going to redo Dawn and "hope" the glitch happens. If not, and I have to redo the entire campaign, 343 can go do nasty things.
What complete and utter bullshit.
Regarding the achievements issue, it is so fucking bizarre that a part of the reveal was making sure to point out that the game would have 4000GS, and they barely bothered to make sure that at least the stat tracking was solid enough to have achievements unlock reliably.
Ugh to this whole thing.
Phone call was no better. She kept saying it was policy that no, refunds be issued due to broken matchmaking. I asked who had authorization to grant a refund and she said it was policy. She said it was due to the volume of requests concerning MCC.

Yeah. Was called a liar, and after being promised a refund (which o saved in chat logs for proof) for a separate issue on two occasions and on the phone, a supervisor took over and told me I didn't know what I was talking about and informed me that she was the final say in EVERYTHING. When I asked to speak to her superiors, she said there were none.
I've been an Xbox customer for a long time, but they have been consistently awful lately.

why is that when there is 16 people in the lobby and only 4 are voting for the shit gametypes/maps?
The others passed away while waiting in the matchmaking screen.

I chortled.
The game literally froze for me in theater while watching a replay of a match just an hour or so earlier. How is that possible? The game is saved to my temporary storage. I've never had that happen once in Halo 3, Reach or 4. It's like no part of the game is untouched from bugs.

I've found in my experience there's a few things that could cause certain achievements to not pop:
1) Try doing the level solo instead of co-op or co-op instead of solo (depending on which you did when the cheevo should have popped)
2) Don't use Bandana skull if you have it. PSA, this disables achievements. Boom does not though, Boom is ok
3) Be patient, it could just simply be a delay for your achievement unlocking
If none of those works?

Oh thanks for the reminder
Last week i let the game on the MM screen and forgot about it, i returned like 40 minutes later cause i heard gun sounds coming from my kids room( his Xbox ), the game was in the middle of a match already and for some reason it didn't kick me for inactivity, i thoug cool, a game, finally until i realisedthe game wasn't registering my kills and i turned it off when the match ended.

Halo 4 achievements that were glitched, they basically fixed it only like a month or two ago. As this could be something that isn't fixed for a while.

Finished Halo 2 for the first time today. I can see why people were originally disappointed with the ending.

Not so much the ending but the lead up to it. I mean, you fight Tartarus and it just sort of stops... Doesn't help that the cutscenes that play afterward are super quick and rushed, which stands out when the game was about letting the narrative breath up to that point.
I posted about a similar experience I had a couple days back but the same thing happened again and it was just too good not to share. This is matchmaking glitches going hilariously wrong.
Overall matchmaking was working well and I played probably just under 10 games tonight. I start up matchmaking in the Team Slayer playlist and then the game suddenly glitches out and brings me into the custom games menu. I notice I am now the leader of a party of ten. The game then lets me bring the matchmade party of ten into a custom game of my choosing. I pick CTF on Wizard Halo CE. Meanwhile everyone in the party apparently still thinks they are in matchmaking because I can hear their voices; many of them had mics. Their reaction to the whole thing was hilarious to listen to. At first, they were confused because they didn't get to vote and that they were playing CTF in a Slayer only playlist. Then the game glitches out or I messed up the options because we spawned with shotguns only, no grenades and there were rocket launchers and flamethrowers on the map (lol). Ended up being a pretty fun game!
At the end everyone got put back into the customs game lobby and their reactions were priceless when they realized that they had somehow ended up in a random custom game. Something is obviously seriously wrong with the way this game handles parties and it's really annoying but when this happens it's kinda fun. I get to pick exactly what map and game mode I want to play.

If anything, the ending of Halo 2 had the exact opposite effect on me. It made me insanely hyped for Halo 3. Although I can understand why people hate cliffhangers, lol. I've never minded them in any game, mostly because the games are relatively long. (ME2, MW2 etc)

So not only do I have to wait for this broken mess to get patched for me to do the Solo Legendary achievement, but also the You're joking achievement WILL NOT UNLOCK AFTER DOING DAWN ON CO-OP.
