I got the black screen + red text 'untracked version, won't upload' 3 times today while playing Halo 4. Please tell me how this wasn't picked up by Q&A, the MM excuse fine, but this is ridiculous.
Aside from that I am wholely enjoying my playthrough of all the Halos.
Having played through 1-3 and starting 4 today, it's easier for me to understand what 4 does right and wrong. I could make a whole list, but I want to keep it to a few points.
Halo 4 is more linear, definitely so. It isn't necessarily bad, but I love the emergent gameplay that I got from the earlier instalments. Having played through 'The Ark' and 'Reclaimer' makes this painfully clear.
Halo 4's music simply isn't as good as the music present in the original 3. Not only that, it's not as dynamic.. the music in 1-3 always knew when it should blast through my headset or when it should stay low or play something awfully eerie. Halo 4 has a few good pieces such as 117, but it isn't the musical and nostalgic wonder that the 'older' ones have (H2A revisited is amazing to be honest)
Halo 4's enemies have no personality. I sincerely (and it seems likely judging by the H5 cinematics) hope that the Covenant return to form in Halo 5. I also wouldn't mind them speaking English, the alien voices are nice at first but for some reason I enjoy being able to understand the chatter of the enemies (or my allies). While the Prometheans (and their weapon sandbox) look cool, their battle strategies are always the same. They are simply these things that run around for you to shoot at, they have no personality, nor could they have any. While some people might complain about the Flood, playing through H2A made me jump several times when one of those buggers managed to sneak up on me, the Flood make me anxious and the Prometheans do not. Hopefully they will improve on that in Halo 5.
The sounds of the weapons in Halo 4. By looking at the beta footage from Halo 5, we will again have a BR that just sounds weird. The Halo 4 BR sounds weird, I am no military expert but what kind of sound is that? Load up H2A and fire the BR or the Carbine in that game, it's pure bliss.. (and I made sure to mention it several times during my playthrough)
Also, was Halo 2 the only Halo game which had a banshee that could actually hover in a single spot? Flying the banshee in Halo 4 is definitely a pain at times.
Switching from Halo 3 to Halo 4, I could land any stick in Halo 3 and I can barely throw a grenade near the enemy in Halo 4. Damn.
