Halo TMCC |OT2| 3V4 Industries

To be honest, while it's quite noticeable in side-by-side comparisons, I would have never in a million years noticed the differences had they not been explicitly pointed out to me. It's disappointing they weren't able to resolve the issues carried over from the PC version, but I kind of think it's one of those things that's a little overblown, but that's just me.

And as far as I'm aware, no, Halo 2 doesn't have any similar issues. If I recall correctly, Halo 2 Vista's biggest issues were that it had somewhat poor performance and that there weren't any major graphical improvements despite being a PC game released 2 and half years after the original Xbox version, neither of which are issues with H2 Classic in MCC (and in the case of the latter, is basically a feature).

Im a player that quickly obsesses over details. Details are part of the game experience for me. I don't mean to be this way, but I am. I immediately notice everything in the inferior version, so much so my experience is significantly altered negatively. So, for me its not overblown--it's ignored too much.

Halo 2 is different, but not as bad. Mainly contrasting colors and reflective surfaces look washed out on the pc version.

I always enjoy playing CE, when the connection is solid. Some great clips there, only watched a coupe so far. I take it that extra rocket round is a glitch for a freebie yes? Also backpack reload going on with that glitch?
Hmm, which clip, I don't see an extra round? You get 4 shots with it btw, and the reason you see only one extra when reloaded is because I used one shot already ;b

It was the second clip, on mobile so I now see that extra ammo reloading.

Funny I had a similar take as many as you can in a 2v4 match tonight, ended up winning after the split screen teammates quit (wait for the exterm at end of clip):

So after months of not touching the MP component of MCC, I decided to give it a try. I enter a playlist and I am almost instantly greeted with 'leaving'. It seems that I can't enter any playlist? Is it still that broken?

It's significant for the game's overall aesthetic composition. Sometimes, in some areas, I can ignore the changes in the sense that I'm not feeling like it's very actively wrong, but if I go back to the original it's just plain more enjoyable. Like, even if I hadn't played the original version in a long time and didn't notice the difference (in visuals or sound), I think it would still have an impact on the experience.

Does Halo 2 have similar issues in TMCC?
Not to the same extent. The original audio is available in Classic Mode, and although there are a few graphical differences (including some comparable screwy transparencies in a few places), problems are much less severe.

No, you probably just got unlucky. It's not perfect, but it works fine most of the time.

Slowly making my way up the Halo 4 ranks. People suck so hard in the low ranks.

I honestly don't feel like I can rank up at all, just because I like popping from playlist to playlist. If I sat in H2A or Team Slayer maybe it would start advancing significantly.

I just tried to play a couple of games about an hour ago (after months away), and every time I went into searching I got kicked back to the select playlist screen after a couple of seconds. Any ideas on what to do?

You can try force-quitting and restarting the game, or a hard reset on the console. It's possible a patch hasn't gelled or something.

I usually quit ever game I play on the Xbox One. The MCC is the only one though that makes crazy noises occasionally so I always force quit out of it.

You know you've got to keep the thread on topic. How terrible AR starts are was the first thing to pop into my head.

Of course!

I wonder if Clique (or anyone really) is still open to the idea of starting up MCC Throwdown again in anticipation of Halo 5?

We're due for a big GAF Halo party.
See what I did there?

I'd like to actually take part in one of these MCC throwdowns sometime, it was always a bit too late though. I've completely fucked up my sleep schedule now though so it'll be fine.

Also don't you mean an SL&Halo party? ;)

Yeah this time I can actually participate! Maybe.

I hope.

I'll probably try and make time to run MCC customs on the weekends towards the tail end of the summer. My schedule's too random right now. Plus I spent all that time making Trenchball.

For someone very detail-oriented who started on Xbox I can understand the complaints even if theyre not a big deal. I started on PC through so to me this basically is how it's supposed to look, even though I know that's wrong.

However I did end up playing Xbox also, so there are still a couple things that bother me forever about PC/MCC. The biggest one being Teleporters. All the rest either you need to specifically look for or have a good memory, but teleporters are right in your face as you walk directly into them.

The teleporters look like shit on PC/MCC, just big bright green walls. On Xbox they looked all watery and pulsating and more dark green. Graphically (gameplay/timers are another subject), I was fine with the MCC being a PC port if they at least made the effort to fix that one in-your-face visual glitch, but they didnt and it still bothers me to this day.

Thinking back to how hopeful I was when Frankie was telling everyone how MCC H1 was a blend of versions that would be true to Xbox. That just...didnt end up true. This is just the PC version. At least that means we got the superior version of Sidewinder and the extra maps.

While we're on the topic of gigantic maps that kinda-sorta take inspiration from Silent Cartographer...

Frankles, why isn't Death Island in rotation in MCC? What's it going to take to get at least Death Island CTF into BTB? Gimme your PayPal, if that helps.

Finally someone who appreciates the beauty of Death Island. I hope this new mega-sized map stuff in H5 in some way replicates the great times I had on H1PC on the super large maps like DI and Infinity.

I was also wondering why Death Island isn't there, kind of strange.

CE needs separate 4v4 and BTB playlists.

4v4
  • Battle Creek -- CTF, KOTH, TS
  • Blood Gulch -- CTF
  • Boarding Action -- Snipers
  • Chill Out -- KOTH, TS
  • Chiron TL-34 -- KOTH (Because why the hell not? It's hectic good fun!)
  • Damnation -- KOTH, TS
  • Hang 'Em High -- KOTH, OB, TS
  • Longest -- KOTH, TS
  • Rat Race -- KOTH, TS

8v8
  • Blood Gulch -- CTF, TS
  • Boarding Action -- TS
  • Danger Canyon -- CTF
  • Death Island -- CTF
  • Gephyrophobia -- CTF
  • Ice Fields -- CTF
  • Infinity -- CTF
  • Sidewinder -- CTF, TS
  • Timberland -- CTF, TS

I feel like people who want to play CE do not want to play Halo 2 or Halo 3, so those two can stay together. There's a serious lack of love over CE in this collection, with it being placed as the last voting option so it never has the option to win a tied vote and a lack of frequency in matchmaking. Why can't Halo 2 be the last vote, it already has several playlists and is included in a majority of them? etc.

Everything has a lack of love in this collection. There's no granularity with the game-specific playlists, and Halo 4 seems to have a pretty strong grip on the combined ones (in my experience), presumably because it had the highest active population of any MCC game at the time of MCC's launch.

Even aside from the ports being weak, it's hard to get enthusiastic enough to go into MM; looking at the playlist options just makes me want to give up. MCC screams for a custom games browser.

Either that or a toggle system, where you can choose which games you want to show up in matchmaking. One of the most frustrating things is, if you want to play Snipers, SWAT or BTB and the game you want to play on doesn't show up or doesn't get voted. It's really bad most of the time.

I would say it is Halo 3 more than Halo 4. It results in many sighs.

Reasons I hate map voting:

IT'S THE SAME FUCKING MAPS EVERYWHERE I GO.

Reasons I hate internal map weighting in playlists:

IT'S THE SAME FUCKING MAPS EVERYWHERE I GO.

No, I do not want to play Warlock and Midship and Sanctuary and the remake of Warlock and the remake of Midship and the remake of Sanctuary again. And again, and again.

No, I do not think two versions of the same map during the voting screen is correct, nor do I think seeing them in 75% of voting screens is correct. It's the exact same problem in Big Team Battle as well.

Really makes it hard to turn the game on honestly.

I agree. I'm really glad voting won't be in Halo 5.

It's a shame there's no toggles in TMCC. It's the only way they should have released it.

Link?
Search Josh's posts in the last of. I don't think it's a sure thing, but it sounded like that's what they were leaning towards (iirc).

People took "Each playlist" to mean Arena/BTB as well as Warzone.

Ahh alright, still not better than MK8's voting, but I digress.
Death Island shouldn't be in. Like several of the CE BTB maps, it's horrifically big and unfun. In my view, etc.
That's why I think only Objective gametypes would work on the larger maps since TMCC is plagued with quitters. And that's CTF to 3.

I would love that shit, when they dropped the CE play list down to just 2v2 the fun was sucked right out. Also no Longest for slayer is a crime.

4v4 KOTH Longest was some good shit. Anything on that map is awesome.
Is it normal that PowerUps and PowerWeapons in CE spawn so fast? I experienced on Wizard really fast respawn times for the powerups.
On Wizard they spawn every minute, regardless of when you pick it up. In Halo 3 for example, when you pick up an OS, it spawns 3 minutes after that moment. In CE, Power-Ups are on timers from the start of the match and are consistent throughout.

So you can pick up an OS or Camo on Wizard 55 secs after the match starts, and a new one will spawn in 5 secs after that.

EDIT:
One of my favorite kills happened on Longest, was playing against a friend and managed to surprise him when he grabbed OS, Jumped the gap, hit him full blast with a shotgun, (every pellet hit,) then whopped him with a melee on the top of his skull before my feet touched the ground. Deleted his entire OS and killed him in one move.

Still think about that play from time to time, just so slick.
So good. So Halo.

Most definitely the superior system in CE, just needed to increase the reset time.
The more "modern" spawn timers clearly favor the person picking it up as said person would have "inside knowledge" as to how to correctly time it. Not that tons timed weapons/powerups beyond high-level players
or nerds
.

Just had a match where a teammate quit before the game because he didn't like the gametype (AR starts on the Pit), then a second teammate quit when the game loaded, so it was 4v2 for the majority of the match. We kept it pretty even and took the lead with 1 second left. They were t-bagging the whole game so it felt pretty good.
