Hannibal S3 |OT| Man Destroys God. Hannibal Eats Man. Hannibal Inherits The Earth.

So...still good?

What a pretty episode. Definitely super friggin' artsy n' shit, with a lot of blood dropping onto various surfaces, l o l. Clearly there're quite a few points that have yet to be explained, which is good because me and several friends have a lot of questions.

I wish I could've seen some Will after waiting so long, but I guess I have to wait ANOTHER WEEK. Mmmrrr

Also, I know this is kind of a dumb question, but does the whole season take place over in Italy (or Europe)? I would look it up but I don't really wanna spoil myself 'cause I suck at avoiding that stuffff

I can see where some people might not be impressed with this first episode. It was definitely not made for new comers. The events and progression of the past 2 seasons are still fresh, so it all made sense. It's also obvious why the artsy shots might be too much. Hannibal is over indulging himself now and this is being transferred over to the viewers. There's many ways to present violence and murder. They're making it look like something beautiful, but you know it's wrong.
If they aren't impressed, they're wrong. Where would Hannibal be if it were designed to please people who don't really care about it but are more than happy to complain anyway? Slipping into mediocrity to achieve a slight boost in ratings, that's where.

This show is well past the point where it needs to prove anything to skeptics or indulge fence sitters by restraining its dramatic and artistic potential. By all appearances, Season 3 is where Hannibal comes into its own. This is Hannibal unleashed, and it's glorious. Dabbling contrarians and twopenny critics are dismissed.

This show is so goddamn gorgeous. The sound design has always been superb, but this season particular has raised my expectations of the score from this first episode alone.

Cannot wait to see what all this fucking shit means for the entire season! THIS EPISODE WAS SO WELL EDITED. AHHHHHHHHHHH

Its not often so many different aspects of filmmaking come together so well under one roof.

Premiere was amazing. Loved every minute of it but damn next week's episode looks bonkers (in a good way of course). I'm so hyped! :)

Spoilers if you want them (only going to address your main questions
You'll see will around episode 4, I believe. And only the first half of the season should be in Europe.

Oh, and Gideon! Those flashbacks of Gideon's final days and final meals were great. I love how there's finally just someone totally unrestrained in how they talk to Hannibal, and he just snarks the everloving fuck outta the guy. It was great.

Plus, it seems to have made Hannibal think.

Are we entirely sure those were actually legit flashbacks and not some representation of Gideon that Hannibal has stored in some part of his mind palace...or a bit of both?

(I love how blurry the narrative has become, there is no hand-holding at all now, it's so ballsy. I cannot believe something like this on network television.)

FOUR EPISODES
?!?!?!?!!!!! That's
A FUCKING MONTH.
Hhhokay, it's okay, I can hold it together....
I am glad to hear they won't be in Europe the whole time, as pretty as it is.
Thanks for letting me know-

Loved it. So visually gorgeous, and those fades - motorcycle rear light blurred/into full moon/into motorcycle headlight/strobing through trees, then Paris with the Eiffel 'lighthouse' being mirrored by the motorcycle beam twisting through the streets at lower right... And the sound! The sound has always been sumptuous but never overwhelming, always serving each scene with the perfect mood enhancement.

god damn this is one of those shows I really want to love but the writing holds me back, once again I was not a fan of that dialogue but damn did that episode look nice. shooting on location in Europe is making for it's nicest looking episode yet and i was a big fan of the black and white stuff too.

enjoyable episode though, mostly due to the visuals. certainly one of the best looking tv shows of all time.

i'm hoping they keep eddie izzard alive just a little bit longer because his scenes ended up being my favorite of the series (mason verger was really entertaining too). his conversations with hannibal are always fun and really cruel too.

Fuuuuckkk i wanna watch this but i decided to rewatch the first 2 seasons and i'm only at the start of S2 :((

Anyone know Italian? What is Gillian Anderson ordering at that shop?

Those scenes had to be setting up something.

Whatever it is, she orders the same thing both times we see her in the shop. Think it's just her way of setting a behavioral pattern to get noticed by authorities and locals in the case she mysteriously disappears one day...

Very nice season opener. Made me hungry and wishing to travel across Europe. :) And the flashbacks were superb.

I'm sad that I'll never be throatfisted to death by Gillian Anderson.

I still cannot figure out the logistics of how that happened. That's some Event Horizon shit. Can we get Paul W. S. Anderson to direct an episode?

Opening minutes of this episode wanted me to see a david lynch directed episode more than anything else

It's clear going by this that nbc is letting them do whatever the fuck they want and don't care anymore going by the structure of the episode we saw, really cool stuff

I believe she keeps ordering a couple bottles of wine and maybe some truffles. My Italian is rusty but that's what I understood

two bottles of Montrachet and white truffles. googled to see what made that wine so special. well, one bottle costs around 4000 bucks.

This was the best hour of TV in a while. The audiovisual design is untouched by anything. Unbelievable.

Plotwise it was a bit disjointed, but it did its job as the "antipasto". I wonder how they will expand on both Bedelia's backstory and on what happened to my personal favorite Eddie Izzard.

And does anyone know who played the patient she killed? Seemed oddly familiar.

Great episode. Only one quibble. I love the cinematography of the show but felt this episode seemed a little too show-offy.

But can't be too picky. Still the best show currently on TV, cable included.

If this is another Deadwood I'm done with tv. Do not fucking Deadwood this show NBC, please let Fuller complete his masterpiece

;_;

So.. How exactly did she kill him? She shoved her arm all the way down his throat??

So I think maybe Hannibal convinced the patient to try and eat her (the whole "he was your patient before he was mine" thing). Maybe he tried by starting with her hand...? Got more than he asked for.

It was definitely the most indulgent episode I think we've seen.
