It's not terrible, but it's not "recommendation" material by any means. An ok casual series to watch while you do thinks such as cook or clean. Nothing to actually sit and devote real free time to though.

Well, that's how I felt after watching three episodes.

It's below average, but for some reason I keep watching it. So how bad can it be?

Episode 8 JUST started, and there's yet another puke. Why the hell does that keep happening?

I watched three episodes and nothing happened. Really terrible. The only thing I like is the giant girl because it just makes NO SENSE. What I don't understand is that there is no tension, no horror, no comedy....literally nothing onscreen in these episodes.

First ep was kinda bad and the sort of thing I'd end up watching when nothing else was on. Will probably finish for completion's sake.

The flashback in the first episode to 13 years earlier had me in stitches. It's ridiculously awful.

I was down on House of Cards in the first 2 eps, but ended up loving the shit out of it. This I dislike for a very different reason. Or I like it. I can't tell.

How is the novel in comparison to the show?

I'm two episodes in and this is how I feel; background/side browser entertainment.

I'm getting strangely addicted to this. 10 episodes in one day. Will finish it tomorrow. It really feels like a mash-up of Twiligt, Twin Peaks and True Blood. The only thing I can say straight up is that it should have been more sadisitic and more gorey.

Yeah, same here. This show truly give and takes. I like how weird it is and how we don't get answers for everything. Atleast not yet. I also like the two young guys and their story. The rest of the townspeople aren't quite as interesting. I can see this show getting a kind of cult following.

Wow at the ending. I, um, kind of understood some of it... Kind of... maybe... But it honestly feels like they intend to make a S2. Well, they definitely do since there's big plot threads left unfinished.

Too bad Famke wouldn't be in S2 though. Although they would probably bring her back. Idk. Or even care really.

I'm halfway through it and the main issue for me is that the characters have no chemistry. The story is all over the place and I'll excuse it. What I can't excuse is that I don't necessarily have any attachment to any one character.

I compare the show to The Killing more than any other show. I stuck with The Killing for the mystery (as I am doing with Hemlock), but it at least had a few redeemable characters. If the show is to get a second season, I advise them to age the show up with the gore, storytelling, and plot arcs.

Got to
wolf transformation
in episode 2. Pretty terrible. :|

This.
I was kinda on board for it till then though. I kinda liked the mystery with what might be going on at the factory or lab or whatever and I liked the Gypsy guy and Roman, thought things could get kinda interesting but then (end of ep 2 spoilers)
Gypsy transforms into a wolf and it's just kinda lost me. I liked it better when I thought the main weird shit was going to be the Godfrey company stuff. Like weird experiments or something and not actual werewolfs.
I actually kinda expected it to be him and his mum pulling a prank on Roman or something when his eyes fell out.

The whole thing seems kinda off too. Like the way it's shot or the effects or something (well especially the CG stuff). I am interested in what's up with Roman's sister though and that Doctor guy that showed up for a scene in the first ep. I guess I'll watch a few more tomorrow, see if it gets me back in.

Finished watching this. I guess it gets a little better by the end. The mythos and how everything works still confuses me considering it doesn't follow traditional rules and they don't try to make it clear.

Yep, almost nothing is explained.

I'm really interested in reading the book honestly. Not because I liked this show, but because I want to see if the source material was shitty. If it was, then the terrible plot, characters, and mythos could at least be somewhat excused.

I do wonder if they'll make a S2. I guess if they want to, they need to wait for the second novel to be released.

This show was made by a guy that had never taken a cooking class in his life.

He starts out with all the right ingredients, and even adds some stuff that is really neat as an experiment, and might end up being really fucking tasty, but in the end, he cooks it at too high a temperature, so when it comes out of the oven, it deflates into mush. Then the cook decides to be an idiot and try to salvage it by sprinkling on some sugar, maybe some honey. But that just makes it worse.

Yep, almost nothing is explained.

Let's give our vampires vestigial tails. And not call them vampires. And they eat their own babies, but only their own female babies.

From every interview, it sounds like McGreery was trying to write the Anti-Twilight rather than write a cohesive story.

I do wonder if they'll make a S2.

I'm completely over last-second cliffhangers. Especially ones that only have the context of "oh, this thing was happening in the background the entire time".

Well that was really dumb. Feel free to skip on funding a second season Netflix.

Just finished the first two episodes.

It's campy and cheesy as fuck and the acting ranges from mediocre to atrocious (what the hell kind of accent is Famke going for? Doesn't matter, she's hot as fuck). No idea where the story's going to end up or what's going on with that huge girl with the iPhone. Took me a while to get used to the fuzzy, sepia toned filter / post process that's going on in a lot of the shots.

And yet...I'm very compelled to keep watching.

Ep 2 spoilers

I actually enjoyed the werewolf transformation, the CGI itself was terribad but the concept of the wolf actually erupting/eating its way out of his skin was really cool, with the eyes and teeth popping out. I don't know if that's been done before, not familiar at all with classic werewolf movies, but I thought that was pretty neat.

I'm on episode 2, and this is pretty much how I feel. It's not "seeing this makes my day worse" bad, but I wouldn't watch it with undivided attention. Not a bad show to watch while I cook tomorrow.

Bailed after Episode 1. And I'm a big enough Galactica fan that Chief & Dee being in it would NORMALLY make me stick around another two episodes just to see if they get anything to do.

But this was just - unappealing in basically every way.

Is it true Netflix could have had Hannibal and paid for this instead? Or was that just conjecture.

Because if that's actually true, that's a definite mistake.

They play the most vague characters on the show. Which is saying something.

Dee basically walks around saying weird shit and being a poorly written werewolf bigot (and religious dick), and Tyrol is the most ignorant macho cop ever.

I love the reactions I'm reading here, just pretty funny. Not sure whether I wanna even tune in now. The Following has filled up my quota of terrible hate-watch train wrecks for the year.

The Following is quality compared to this train wreck.

I've never seen a show that has so many good ideas, but instead of going with the obvious, they purposefully decide to write it in the dumbest ways.

I'm pretty sure the writer's room had a whiteboard with 'HOW TO WRITE THIS SCENE DIFFERENTLY' written on it.

I just made a random comment about that, its not true as far a i know.

eh i saw the second episode. i don't think i care enough to finish this series. the bizarre charm has already worn off on me and i just felt bored.

I'm on episode 9 so far and I'm liking it, it's not the best thing ever but it's entertaining enough. My biggest problem with the show for me though is that they'll refer to things/terms but never explain what it is and then I end up getting confused.

5 episodes in and it's gotten slightly better. Still very odd and by no means up to a "normal" quality but it isn't quite as strange as it was initially.

It's intentionally cryptic, I think in an attempt to make it creepier. I don't know that it works but I'm find with not having everything revealed. I'm in for the long haul on this one.

Seen the entire first season during the weekend and I thought it was pretty good, save the weak season ending.

I can feel the vibes from both Twin Peaks as well as Riget (von Triers The Kingdom) so I guess it might be difficult for some people to get and stand the pacing and direction in the series.

If you want mindless gore you will be dissapointed.

Yeah the gore is pretty tame. The only sequence that I really liked was (episode 12 seasons)
when Peter's face is eaten off.

Just saw the first 2 episodes. The uncle that is sleeping with the phoenix is the guy from this week's Doctor Who. I couldn't unsee it.

ALl the acting in the show is bad, but I'm ok with it. I don't know where the budget went though. Those skyscraper shots don't cost that much.

Watched some more today and I think I'll see it through. I'm quite interested in some bits and characters and what is going on with them and I hope by the end there are answers to some of the questions. Don't much care about who/what the killer is though. Like, not at all.

I will check this out and hold it up to Twin Peaks, but I already have a feeling this will not be that good. I was really hoping Netflix would start bringing in more serious content after the amazing House of Cards, and upcoming Arrested Development. So we'll see, but Twin Peaks will never be dethroned I suspect. And hey, I'm glad for that!
