And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
is strife good

what is strifes "inovative" side?

I just jumped into real games and have been enjoying suboptimal builds and gods. There's a whole bunch of weird modes beyond the official one too, it's pretty casual for me (but im always grouped up), havent encountered standard bm yet

lol

Such amazing branding. Strife is just another moba, it's only claim to fame is it's by the same devs behind Heroes of Newerth. Smite is like a third person shooter mashed up with a MOBA, you lane, there's towers and creep waves, but everything is in third person. It's more like WoW PVP. Kinda.

wait i thought smite and strife was the same game :(

What's that other MOBA, it's by the HoN devs, name is similar to Smite. Strife?

Similar to Smite specifically would be their super old one, Savage/Savage 2? They made HoN obviously which is a dota like, and then Strife which is more a lol-like, but it doesn't have 3rd person view point and stuff like Smite so not sure that's what you mean.

Edit: And since a few people mentionned it, Strife isn't 3rd person at all, it's just a normal moba, simplified a bunch of mechanics and stuff, it's closer to lol than dota, but it's very typical stuff.

Savage 1 was great. Savage 2 not as much. Savage 3 while keeping the ideals of the first game more in mind wouldn't be a bad idea in 2016.

SC2 shipping this year should be a massive gift to the HOTS team, who clearly need more manpower.

Watched some of the OGN semis before work- SO MANY SONYA BANS. Ketch would be most displeased!

I started playing smite w/ some ppl it's actually pretty fun. Janky in a really endearing way

My new video card came with a code for all the gods free so I checked it out. I thought it was really fun, but I have no one to play with so I haven't pursued it any further. I did think it was kinda fugly though.

This is my hope as well. At the very least they can re-appropriate the best of the best out of that team even if it won't be more manpower per se.

Maybe they can teach them how to make the SC2 engine run smoothly.

It's the same team.

Feels weird to be back :(

I'm trying to remember when I got into the Dota 2 beta, figure out how many years it took Valve to hit the feature and content saturation point. Three years? Basically figure out how many years Blizzard should take to hit a similar point. Right now I'd settle for an end to mirror matches and a casual draft phase at match start.

Maybe they can teach them how to make the SC2 engine run smoothly.

Starcraft 2's engine will run on most anything, it just won't do it well.

Do some of you use really old computers or maybe laptops? This game is like rock solid for me framerate wise.

I imagine the Mac version probably isn't very good, especially given the resolution of the devices.

IIRC it's a CPU issue. Mine's 5 years old with a relatively recent FX card. Still have lots of stuttering all turned down to low. D3 runs great. This does not.

SC2 causes my gfx card to overheat and I have a 770. Needs to be optimized better.

It's like kirblar said, it's a CPU issue. The game is very CPU intensive and that is what causes a lot of people problems I guess.

I've never had any performance issues - only server/lag related ones with TWC - but I've definitely saw people talk about having them a lot in groups and here/reddit.

I have a relatively new GPU but an older CPU because there hasn't been great cause to upgrade for, well, years. The last generation of consoles hanging on for so long was great because I could play everything at relatively high settings for years with minimal upgrades. I think Xcom 2 might be the first game to motivate me to upgrade, depending on what its requirements are.

All I know is D3 has 5 trillion things exploding on screen without a dip. LoL runs unwavering 120fps. HotS runs incredibly unstable 40fps even on low. If I can play ARMA 3/Crysis 3/Witcher 3 at 60fps, I think the problem lies with HotS more than it does my CPU. Thing is, even SC2 runs smooth 60fps for me, so I don't know what the deal is. It's surprising from Blizzard and worries me about Overwatch.

I have the same issue with HotS, like even SC2 with maxed armies runs faster than HotS. It's really just not good and the game would benefit quite a bit from some engine work.

From my understanding the games needs fast CPU cores.
I does not use many cores, so the ones it uses should be fast, like 3GHz and more.
I am not sure if memory bandwidth plays a role.

Really, could you check that again?
If SC2 runs fine on your end, HotS should as well.
SC2 max army battles in 2v2 stutter more for me, than Heroes ever did.
(worst thing in SC2 for me are transparency effects like Mothership)

It's finally arrived. (I'll be waiting for a 50% sale cause I really like my SC2 Medic Uther)

Aren't Blizzard games so CPU heavy since the games are supposed to run on near decade old PCs?

My Surface Pro 2 has as weak a dual core with 2 threads each CPU (I think 1.6 Ghz) and not even a dedicated GPU but it runs HoTS between 28 and 40 frames per second on lowest second. It used to run a little better on Windows 8

Yeah I know it doesn't make much sense lol but that's the way it is for me. I have a 3770k and gtx 970 for reference.

McIntyre's tier list and top HL picks - the philosophy is "who can singlehandedly win fights" (note: NOT a 5-aman tier list.)

Tier 1(Wins fights for team, without a real team):
Warrior:Leoric
Assassin: Zeratul, Jaina, Valla, Kaelthas
Specialist: Nazeebo
Support: Uther

Tier 2(Helps team towards victory, strong picks):
Warrior: Johanna, Anub
Assassin: Kerrigan, Raynor
Specialist: Zagara
Support: Malfurion, Rehgar

Is there no way to view the tints of the Judgement Uther and his mount before buying them? I don't see the skin or his mount under hero selection, nor as standalone items in the shop.

What does it say that after like 8 years the sets they still care about most were the T2s...Though I wouldn't mind a t6 set for Johanna...dat shield.

Nostalgia is strong perhaps?

For me it's just when I played WoW the most. I played a lot during classic wow, from 05 (not long after the EU release) until TBC came out. Blackwing Lair and getting the Judgement set is just probably one of my fondest memories. Not just because I loved the look of the set, just reminds me of my old guild and the fun we had overcoming the raid. :p

Since then I've not played WoW much at all, so not really any attachment.

Which buildings give EXP for killing?
Forts, Keeps and Towers? What about Gates? What about Core?

How is the final EXP tally, before any bonus is applied, calculated?
If I add up all teammembers exp, it is still a few thousand EXP short.

EXP you get after a game is just based on the length of the game. Has nothing to do with how much soak or whatever anyone had.

but on the few games I payed close attention, we defintely got more exp if we destroyed all buildings, as opposed to just one lane to the core, while having similar times.

I had 7 to 8 minute games with just over 50k EXP, and I had over 10 minute games with 55k EXP

so if it is just based on length, it is at least not pure linearity.

It's length. It's possible that destroying keeps/buildings plays into it, but I've seen no one correlating anything but length of game. Maybe it's level as well, but if it is it isn't much. It's almost entirely based on how long the game lasts.

So what is the formula?
If I just devide Exp by time, i get very different factors.

Right now the closest formula I can come up with is:
TeamEXP + (seconds * 19.5) but that is off by around +-100 points

Haha, I dunno. I've never been concerned enough to dive that deep into it.
