Is there a good recommended website or resource to help explain the vocabulary or classes for the heroes? like what role does a warrior play, specialist, what is a tank, etc.?

Warriors = tanks or bruisers
Assassins = sustained or burst dps
Support = mainly straight healers, but Tyrande and Tassadar are hybrid damage/support
Specialist = sieging (damaging buildings) or sustained dps

What was the GAF consensus on the new map?

I've only played it twice so I'm pretty sure I'm in a good position to say that FUCK THAT MAP.

I mean, it's alright and I think I like it better than the other 2 "we don't ever have to enter your base to win" maps but it's still one of those and that's always been a thing with me.

It seems better than mines doe so good trade go GG.

Also GAF channel is dead ain't nobody in there on a mid afternoon Monday you all work or what?

GAF channel has been dead for months. It's useless. No one either (A) knew how to turn it on when in game or (B) bothered to leave it on if they did. Much easier to communicate on here than it is there which is kind of sad I guess. I don't think any of the regulars here even hop in it anymore since no one uses it for anything except pre-planned in house games.

And I like the new map. Was fun stuff. Only played two games on it though.

Thanks guys! I tested a few heroes and I really like Tyrael, Sonia, and The Butcher. I'm not so good with Leoric at all. Diablo was fun to play but I felt like I was using him wrong. Similarly with Johanna.

Can't fucking win this week.

3 lvl lead no lets throw, 4 dead and a boss at lvl 20 no stitches stop the hearthing no need to defend our core.. am cry.

Yay I won, with Tassadar solo support even. Healing output isn't half bad.

Legit question: Are people buying carries in Hero League like some people do in ranked PVP and raids in WoW? I know Blizzard just shut down the HotS equivalent of Honor Buddy by acquiring its code base--thank fuck--but are other similarly shady things like carries and rank farming being sold?

I find now that with most matches I'm getting paired with other players with 40 player account but also a few Hero League ranked players who are all over the map in terms of skill and attitude despite being, relatively speaking, high ranking players. Just played with a HL rank 1 player who was cussing out teammates for being noobs and then proceeded to feed, not show up for objectives and quit the match right before we lost.

I expect that kind of behaviour from the lowest levels of QM, but a player with a high rating for Hero League? It was bizarre. Also now I am the trenches for a lot of these HL players because they look at and see only my player account level sans HL rank and act like dicks because of this. Usually these are the games we lose.

I've avoided ranked play and getting into the eSports scene around HotS because I want a more casual experience than Dota 2, where you can't ignore these things. With Dota 2 it isn't just a game you play, it becomes this thing that creeps into your time outside of playing the game.

I try talking in GAF channel every once in a while just to see if anyone who still has it set to autojoin actually has it turned on in their chat

I may try some erotic fanfiction next time to test if anyone actually has it on but just choose to ignore me

I don't think people are buying carries, and if they are it's certainly not very publicly available. Due to the nature of the game you can't carry people anywhere near as much as you can in other MOBAs - a bad player will lose you a game far faster than a good player can win you a game. It's just the nature of the game that you'll encounter rank 1 players who are complete dicks and useless at the game. They will have got there playing overpowered characters, grinding it out, or just getting lucky with their placement matches. Happens in every MOBS really.

And re bottling, I'm very glad they went aft it so aggressively. I've only ever encountered them in AI matches, but it's incredibly painful and turns what is suppossed to be a relaxing 10 minute game into a 25 minute slog. My friends have met them in quick match which is even worse...

They can't let the botting in HotS get like it is in WoW. That would simply be game ruining and it's not like HotS has other facets for you to focus on outside of its multiplayer the way WoW does. They have to be more aggressive with their bans and more frequent with the ban waves.

Even if the Dash were unstoppable I think it's still a poor skill on the wrong character. The fact it's not unstoppable is one of the smaller issues I have with that skill. I'm just not entirely sure what it's purpose is on his kit, and if you don't talent for it appropriately at 4 and 7 I'm not sure why you would ever cast it beyond wave clearing.
