Also (pending GFE response), does GFE go from face team to heel team for the reasoning behind Fury's kick?

I'm ~3 wins away from master, hype!

gat damn you been busy in our absence. Must have a hell of a record the past week or two. What's your record now? proto gonna be a grindmaster?

Sunderings are more often misses than hits and even the hits are just so so.

haha this is the story of my Thrall life. Seems like if the enemy has one, Sundering decimates us, but if I am Thrall or a teammate is Thrall the Sundering whiffs or the knockback ruins some other setup.

Heh, my HL record is only 26-17 with 339 points to the promo match. I solo'd to D2, duo'd to D3, solo'd to D1, and am duoing again. Falstad, Li-Ming, Brightwing and Anub have been my MVHeroes lately.

Ah, so it does give you a bit of a boost post placement then? I've only played 1 game post placement. The other games I did placement on my alt account. Still, that's a pretty good winrate honestly. 9 games over .500.

I'm not sure on Falstad anymore and I think that's cause Milly thinks he's sucks and always talks about how his damage sucks and he's not bursty enough. I got my win streak in placement off of Li-Ming, ETC, and some AA heroes (Valla/Lunara).

This game is not kind to my friend and I. New rank started off okay, but we placed lower than we expected and the grind has been the same nonsense as before. Oh well, we will continue our struggle.

I was 8-1 on Falstad in TL placements for preseason.

Falstad/Xul was insane for us on the good Xul maps (Shrines, DS, Sky Temple)

Fury:

We would like to address the fans of Gale Force eSports as well as the Heroes community as a whole; I am sure a lot of you are a little confused as to why we let Fury go. Let us start off by saying that his performance in game has nothing to do with why he was removed. Nor was this the case of coming back from Worlds and wanting to changing the roster just for the sake of changing the roster. Fury has played well and has been such a huge part of why we qualified and how special this team has been. For this we are ever so grateful to have had the time to spend with Fury and watch him grow as a player and as a teammate. The decision to remove him was not made lightly.

>That being said, as we are sure anyone reading this heard, we removed Fury “because of his girlfriend”. She has always been very kind and nice and she herself never tried to wedge herself between the team and Fury. This is not about her, it’s about Fury.

>When we put this team together some players were skeptical to play with Fury because of previous stints on teams where he had personal outside issues. He reportedly let that spill into his performance in game and it affected his desire and ability to play and be productive with his team. We spoke to him more than once about his commitment level and he assured us this would not be an issue and that he was going to show everyone how much he cared about this game. We put our reservations aside and told the team that everyone deserves a chance to be in a different environment and see how things go.

>Many people know that most of the players on our team are in relationships. We are not against our players being in relationships, and this was not a personal attack on his. Our team’s attitude is to show the same amount of dedication to the game as one would do for their job or career. Unfortunately, a number of players felt like Fury was letting his relationship interfere with his work. This created tension at times and occasionally influenced the team atmosphere in a negative way, which was not something we could overlook because of our belief in team chemistry being of utmost importance.

>One example of this would be when he stayed in Texas for an extra 10 days after Dreamhack Austin to spend time with his sister and his girlfriend. We asked if he could still scrim with the team and he said yes. He had a laptop capable of running HotS with him. Despite all that, he missed out on a full 10 days of scrims with the team, which is simply unacceptable.

>Regardless, this decision was tough for everyone involved. Fury is very kind and has a good heart. We are confident he won’t have any trouble finding another team and we truly wish him the best.

I dunno. On the one hand I can agree, but if you missed 10 days of work to just hang out then your boss would be pissed too. Not to mention you missing caused the whole operation to cease til you came back.

Speculation is Caff for Fury. Rofl kicked and k1 gets his spot. I'd really like to see Zuna and Kenma kicked then those two go to NvT and someone there becomes support. Talk about dream team.

Supposedly Caff and k1 are a package.

yeah for sure, but this was after they won regionals, how are you gonna let it ride for this long and then bring it up again. they must have at least brought it up at some point...and if they did I'm sure fury accepted his mistake and didn't do it again? dunno, but whatever happened w/r/t to this specific scenario it ended up being ok enough for them to bring him to worlds...unless they were just planning on booting him the whole time?

I didn't catch their games at worlds, but everyone is saying that fury made the best showing of the team there, fury is very passionate and cares, I dunno, it'd be great to get the views of his teammates on this but that'd be pretty unprofessional

oh shit mac got booted, hope he lands on his feet
wonder what the vote looked like

best xul maps are dshire, tomb, and infernal, maps that aren't too big and give inordinate value for keeping waves forward (all the map obj are in da middle)
his waveclear is pretty useful on bhb (prtty popular strat is to do 4 bot and let him do mid/top), but he has no escape and can get caught in large spaces pretty easily

noooo
fan did have a slight smirk while talking about it on thh today, he looked like a tru villain

yeah @ fury, but something really should have done/communicated at that point, but they just use him up and boot him? very weak.

Oh, here's the issue (from the Reddit thread)
Yet I told them before I left I would TRY, not 100% yes. TLDR I wanted to scrim from my sisters house but we had a family fight and I was not allowed to play. I told them weeks ago before we went to Dreamhack Austin that after the event I want to spend time with my family and my girlfriend who lives not far away from Austin and I would try to scrim if possible. I can point people out for being late to scrims or not even showing up or even not taking scrims serious and being on auto pilot the whole time. There is so much wrong with the team where I feel I was the least worries. I proved myself on stage that I worked the hardest and I deserved to get where I am today and say I went to a global and won a NA regional.
How the fuck old is this kid? You're getting flown to pro championships but your family's not letting you play?

Either get another job or get another family.

McIntyre press release is a giggle m8:

"I want to first applaud McIntyre for his attitude and positivity throughout the last month. Many players would’ve crumbled under the pressure that he was under but he’s one of the more mentally strong and positive players that I’ve ever seen. McIntyre has treated the entire situation with class and I appreciate the amount of effort and time that he’s put into the team and himself. This change will hopefully increase our team’s ceiling and our capabilities on the global stage. We know that this transition will not be easy but we are doing everything to prepare for the Fall season. I still believe that McIntyre is a top player in NA and will land on a high caliber team. We will miss McIntyre and his uplifting attitude towards the team and the game."

The Buechter boys still got everyone convinced they aren't the problem. Zuna's inconsistency and domineering behavior combined with Kenma's lack of pool and skill versus other supports is the issue here. There's no tank, and there can't be one because Zuna just plays whatever he feels like.

Fan staying with that team is mind boggling to me. It has to be frustrating af for him.

They had no choice but to let it ride at that point, didn't they? Can't change roster once you've qualified unless something has changed that I don't know about.

Why not? You have 3 assassins/specialists in any one draft most of the time. Why would you not want two of the best in the region?

1 Tank
1 Melee DPS
1 Ranged DPS
1 Healer
1 Flex

is generally how comps are set up right now. This could change, but in the current state of things, this is leading to a situation where Fan and Mac are fighting for that Melee DPS spot, which both likely would prefer to be playing fulltime.

That doesn't convince me of anything. Why would you want a lesser player just because they only play range versus a more skilled player? I don't see how that makes sense at all. Clearly if they can't come to some kind of agreement that would be an issue, but it was a non-issue til Zuna started hogging roles from both of them.

Fan is just as good at either, and there's no reason McIntyre can't be. That flex may be another melee or tank, it may be ranged. Either way, they are both skilled enough to fill it. Before the conflict with Zuna role hopping and even when they were BRFC Mac was playing a fairly good amount of ranged flex with Zag, Tass, etc.

The real winner in this is bigempct, who hasn't done shit since joining the team but got the free pass because he was the least vocal of the bunch/most willing to put up with the poop.

is family fight some sort of ppv

yeah it does make sense for gfe to do what they did and keep him on under false pretenses but the whole thing stinks like they have his replacement lined up already, like w/ him being at the top of his game the past few months "we don't think you care enough" is super weak

4 votes against mac would be the saddest thing but it's kind of what I suspect

I dunno if they have his replacement lined up or not, to be honest. If they take both Caff and k1 we'll know, if not then it's a little less clear. Regardless, can't miss 10 days and force your bros to miss 10 days cause your mom/aunt/sister/whoever the fuck won't let you play the game you get paid to play.

I am curious how bige and Fan voted. Wouldn't it be 4 votes against if it's max votes?

EDIT: Also, somewhere erho is ROFLing at this outcome after it coming down to him or Mac earlier this year.

my feeling is both fan and big e voted against mac
the whole voting system feels kinda fucked tbh, like I wonder if any of these teams just get together and talk

also hooray esports

I always wonder how teams do this, playing house with the team on the way back and at the venue and then kick someone the moment they go back. Mac just spend 24 hours with his boss on the airport and then a 15 hour flight.

In his Twitlonger, Khroen mentioned he only ever met his gf of 3 years twice. I don't understand my age group at all.

I really hate Kenma

So let's start off from the beginning. Mc is just an awesome guy who i consider a friend and i hope he considers me one as well, we've been through a lot together and i've been pretty hard on him but he has done whatever the team asked of him. The team talked about changes since Korea but it was decided we would give Mc time to prove himself as a good fit for the team moving forward. Mc i feel has a leader attitude and doesn't follow shotcalls well, i think he'll do much better on a team in a leadership or shotcalling position, and have high hopes he will continue in the scene if he chooses to. I won't go into other details because it's our team's business and no one elses. GL whatever you choose to do in the future Mc.

Caff and K1 to GFE would be incredible. I hope NVT doesn't even qualify for Blizzcon at this point, Fan really needs to bail though.

Also had a 12 year old scream at me in caps asking for my address so he could beat me up today. I don't even know what I did to him, I played quite well that game. Hopefully Blizz will silence the little bugger and spare the rest of us. That was a first.

Is Kenma actually the one shotcalling?
this explains everything!

EDIT: beaten by that old man Milly

Well, re: Mac and shotcalling, we suspected that may be an issue for most everyone who was on the team when BRFC formed. Almost all of em, the prominent ones at least, were shotcallers at some point.

Then again, based on some of the dumb shit they've done, can't blame Mac for questioning the logic.

Also, NVT owner is literally like a wrestling heel. It's almost like he's trying to live up to his Connor McGregor avatar.

You remember when nvt was good?

Mac was the shot called, no?

Regardless, this shit is dumb. Everyone goes nuts when they have one/two bad tournies.

Alur

We don't really know. Mac was the shotcaller of Complexity when they were the only team to win a tournament (at the time, the biggest we'd had) other than C9 or Tempo Storm. But that version of the team fell apart (hello again, Erho!) and after that he only had scrubs.

It's hard to tell if he's LeBron James on the mid to late 2000's Cavaliers (a dude capable of leading good players, but who is forced to carry bad ones) or if he's Carmelo Anthony on the Nuggets and Knicks (lots of stats, bad leadership). He's never really gotten the chance with a real team around him.

My assumption has always been that Zuna shotcalled but that it was more by committee in the early days of BRFC. Clearly Zuna or Kenma or both are the sole voice(s) now, though.

kirblar

Shotcalling and the healer role don't really seem to mix in HOTS. The position's too backline-y and reactive.

Mac's competent on ranged, but Zuna looked a billion times better every time they flipped. (And mac looked a billion times better on tanks)

i really can't imagine kenma does anything in games besides call cds, like I'd probably attribute the improvements he's made to his play in great part to him just stepping off ppl's toes in-game and concentrating on his own shit

zuna and fan both participate in calling teamfights for sure, I'm pretty sure that both zuna and fan are the leaders in this operation, but things like map rotations seem kinda more zuna's thing

all conjecture ofc, but it's fun

cant see fan being on a team where he isn't some sort of majority shareholder

yea.. voting doesn't make much sense.. .like if the captain and his brother are gonna vote the third guy out, then how else is #4 and #5 supposed to vote? Against the captain? against the captain's brother? against themselves? or against the dude that's gonna get kicked anyway?

Alur

I think we're all probably overestimating Fan's influence on this team. Fan is pretty quiet by nature and Zuna is, well, obviously not. In 99% of situations like that the louder voice always drowns out the other, regardless of how much respect or lack thereof is involved. I'm sure they talk about lots of shit outside of game that Fan sees and Zuna probably agrees or at least listens, but we all see how he is once he's in game. Between the yelling and the feeding, it's hard to see how he's listening to anyone but himself.

I agree with you that I can't see him on a team for long where he isn't a majority stakeholder either, which is why I'm surprised he is sticking it out.
