Dread was the best shotcaller in the game however, hands down, at the time. Tempo used to win off his shot calling basically - it's how they beat Cloud9 for the entirety of summer last year. C9 had the better rotations and mechanics, but Tempo just outplayed them on every map and knew when to finish the game

Yeah he was super valuable for that, though i do thonk it was a little overstated since his brand is basically him being the spotlighted version of that guy, i think ppl on ts were likely close to his lvl in understanding macro play esp. when zuna joined, but dread was def the final say person during their best moments and that coubts for a lot. I remember on some thh w/ zoia and dunk where they admitted that they werent calling out cds before zuna showed them lol.

I dont really know anything about what dunk did for c9 but since they all shotcalled at the same time i feel like they were all prtty in sync on what to do and when to do it (even tho their macro play seemed kinda lacking when they were w/o zuna; their teamfighting and cd awareness were on point though).

@glau, as far as i can tell the majority of the scene consider him to be a brat, and his teams (like cattle and co.) consider him to be a loveable brat

That's what I've gathered too.

Glau seems to be a person who suffers from "perfect is the enemy of good" and it holds him back.

So for those of ya that Auriel, do you go rez or crystal aegis?

I've heard many top streamers say that rez is more of a "win more" skill. In my experience it kind of is, but it's so damn useful especially late in the game. If someone gets ganked or whatever late in the game, it can completely turn things around if you can rez em.

Crystal Aegis is just..... eh.

edit: I think Infernal Shrines is probably my favorite map with her atm. Her wave clear helps a ton on the objective and with her sustain there's no worrying about running out of mana contesting a shrine. Plus there's tons of confined spaces to knock someone into a wall.

The problem with Rez is that it's worthless in a team fight. You need to win the fight to get value out of it. Crystal Aegis on the ther hand can be used to prevent massive amounts of damage if timed well, and acts a good damage boost / zone clearing tool. The trick to Awgis is to use it to prevent damage - not when they are already at 10% health and going to die.

rez would be cool if it was instant but then put aurial at 1 hp and gave the person she rezzed however much hp she had minus the 1 she got left.

That looks sick, this game has sorely needed something like that since the beginning

even in OW where everyone knows most of those post game stats are meaningless, it still feels really good to always have the positive aspects of what you did that game highlighted at the end. This will be very good for HOTS and breeding more positivity to the postgame in a MOBA can only be a good thing

My friend's daughter that I introduced to the game- the lack of personalized kill messages was something she immediately missed from LoL, she liked getting her name called out/praised.

It's been really interesting seeing a real-life 14yo LoL player react to the game and the differences.

Meh, commends are so meaningless and it'll probably take 3 minutes to load in the hots client.

Ooooh, that does look awesome! I love stuff like that! I've only ever gotten legendary once in Overwatch when all 12 people voted for me as Mercy - totally meaningless but it's still super cool.

I got 10 once, 2 people didn't vote. I was a little salty about it. This looks so good, I'm really excited for this for some reason. I just really like judging people I think

MVP system is gonna be cool I think. It's a feel good moment in OW when you pop up there, so no real complaint from me. Anything with positive reinforcement is good.

On the negative side, damn if we haven't been on the most hellacious streak of shitshow losses lately. So many games lost late after dominating it for 15-20 minutes. It feels absolutely awful.

You must be on Cloud 9.

We played this Cho'Gall group last night. There were 4 of us in our group, and we hit them twice in a row in Unranked.

Dominated them the whole game, and I mean fucking dominated. 4 level lead in first game, 3 level lead in the second game. Just as we were getting level 20 in each game, however, people got too confident and we'd get a death. Then something would happen and stagger a second death. Then our 4th, who was abso-fuckin'-lutely awful and was just a random from another friend's friends list, would pile on a 3rd death and then a 4th as soon as he was back. By then, they were level 20 as well and we just couldn't burst them quicker than they could us.

We played 4 games last night and that 4th in our group died at least 7-9 times in each game but felt he wasn't overextending or doing anything wrong. I was gonna kick him after game two, but let him stay all four games...I won't make that mistake again.

To be honest, that's why I've played more Overwatch lately. If I have idiots on my team in Quick Play, I can just leave. If I'm in Competitive, I can at least switch to some hero I want to work on/learn (and can also just switch in QP). The games in QP are over in like 5-10 mins tops, and if I lose at the end of a game it's often a hard fought contest....not one that we dominated for 99% of the game and lost one fight and GG. It just feels better as something for me to be casually invested in. That's all IMO, of course, but it's kind of where I'm at. The fact that every given night we could feasibly put together a 10-12 person group in OW helps a lot too.

Yeah, you can't be nice. We had an Anub dive back into a battle with 10% hp and suicide (among other insane things), and afterwards I told the rest, I am not playing with him again.

I managed to win all my QM matches last night, but man, the match-making was odd on one of them.

Our team was all ranged: Gul'Dan (me), Chromie, Auriel, Hammer, Tassadar.

The enemy team, however, had Illidan. He could just dive in on any of us and destroy us.

It was a long game, but we eventually wore them down with Hammer's Orbital utl and one quick ninja push. But man, I was really sick of fighting Illidan after that.

Yeah they made an auto take talent baseline and ppl have this mental block playing against him lol. Also i assume a bunch of ppl playing him are playing him w/ the change in mind so they play him more correct (dont siege)

Her.

And yes people never knew to punish a hammer and would just slow ass rotate while she takes out a wall or more for free. That's what makes all specialists such a pain at low ranks.

I won't pretend I'm good with vikings I'd hardly describe myself as decent with them but when your team tells you vikings are bad on towers, tells you play again is the wrong ultimate and harp on you for your hero damage you know they just have no clue how to play with vikings on their team. They'd split lanes even with me there they'd try and defensively cap an altar on the hometurf etc., etc. Makes you mad and not the angry kind.

Man, the toxicity I've seen (in quick match) is amazing. I wonder how many new players this drives away.

How are HotS doing numbers wise?

It's the unfortunate reality of these online games, particularly MOBAs. The vast majority of the toxicity is all centered at the entry level ranks/MMR. I'm sure it drives away plenty. That's part of why they give people the option to completely disable chat as well.

HotS goes both against two common/popular things in mobas, maining heroes/champs and the carry potential. It is no wonder it does so poorly. If Blizzard wasn't so obsessed with
being different
counter picking, then maybe this game would be a bit more popular.
Or not

I think HotS is popular because of the choices it has made. A game doesn't need to have LOL numbers to be a success (as we can see), and I will happily never ever go into a game to hear 'solo mid or feed'.
