Hopefully I won't get dumped on too badly for asking, but here goes...

I really want to get that Genji skin for Overwatch. And I know I'm going to be pretty garbage at this game since I haven't played a MOBA since DoTA on Warcraft III pre-TFT. Would anyone want to power through 15 games with me at some point in the near future? I'd be down to play 30 to get you the HotS heroes (assuming everyone here doesn't already have them :p)

Invite some people and add them to your friends list before you start any games. You don't have to be friends prior, and new friends you add just for those games totally count. Just make sure the other people accept before you start.

I don't think Brawls count, but anything else does.

Most people power through Beginner AI games to do the 15, although I'm not sure how often that's still going on.

Chu8's team isn't going to make it and I'm going to be sad. I think it would really fun to watch him and his team play real pro games and improve over time. Would make his stream that much more fun to watch IMO. Oh well.
 
I think that will depend on whom they'll have to contend with but if they just tighten up a bit they could take out DTS or Vox, the next best contenders for the spot. When they played Srey they drafted a melee warrior less team with Azmodan game 1 and where structurally and in levels far ahead in the 2nd when they threw.

Not having iokona in the league would be super weird considering he's a contender for best support in NA imo. Faye and Srey are oddballs and Goku and Prismaticism middling players but iokona is just a great support player.

I just read this really great article on Gosu Gamers about the failed Nazeebo re-work. If any of you are like me, and love Nazeebo, its a good read.

I'm actually really impressed w/ this website. I found it through the HOTS subreddit, and its constantly updated with pretty interesting HOTS topics and opinion pieces... do recommend!

Yeab gosugamers is the best (only?) hots website and team liquid used to have good guides and forums too. Masterleague.net is useful if you like esports and want to keep up w/ current drafts

Yeah, I tried to play Nazeebo the other day. Didn't end very well for myself. He is definitely one of the worst/least fun heroes in the game, although he has a healthy winrate on hotslogs. I think that alone (since it seems pretty similar to what blizzard has internally), will lead to him not being changed.

Nazeebo is fine tbh

He's awful. The rework has failed completely, and as the article says I cannot think of any situation where you wouldn't be better off bringing Gul'dan or Lunara.

He has one of the hardest skill shots in the game to land, with minimal pay off. His toads now lack burst and still feel like a short range weapon on a hero who can't possibly ever be short range. Zombie wall is great but easy to avoid.

They really need to look at him again, particularly some of the spider talents.

He's definitely not fine IMO. Balance wise he may be alright, but they pretty well did a number on what made him "him" for better or worse with the rework.

The double whammy on the spiders, as I believe Maledict has said previously, was a real killer. The over-reliance on hitting zombie walls when they are so easy to skirt is another. Seems strange that it's harder to land a zombie wall reliably due to all the mobility when there's so many easy point-and-click stuns/roots in the game already. Obviously it works because that's his main build now and the winrate is dece, but you basically spend your time post 16 fishing for two or three really good walls and if you don't get em you're just kind of meh.

Even before the rework, when he was around 53-54% winrate and they just kept continually messing with Gary and so forth, it never really made sense when you see how out of line some other heroes were and their stated "45-55% winrate" sweet spot.

Even if you can land a zombie wall, so many heroes can go unstoppable, teleport, burrow, dash through things, or encase themselves that it has become truly worthless. The game is just too active now so maybe they should change the "uproot" talent to be what it does straight off and add more slow to them clawing at you. Right now I mostly use it sparingly as a barrier to micro the flow of minions/mercs.

As for his other talents, he went from powerhouse ambient damage to okay ambient damage. You have to just kind of hang around throwing stuff into an area of fighting and pray there isn't a Lunara or Nova around. He totally blows for 1v1 and his siege and merc capacity has fallen off so other heroes can do those jobs better, too. No matter what you want him for, there is always someone else way better at what you have in mind.

There was a time when he was a nice jack of all trades, so if you applied your skill you could be generally amazing so people were just glad you were around, but now he only tries to be and comes off dull (same generally happened to Tassadar but at least he's still useful for fights). If his voodoo curse could hijack Lunara's ability to "activate" those poisoned by toads for an added effect, that would change everything.

While not an AoE person, in a lot of ways Rexxar has taken over Nazeebo's old roles. Fuckin love Rexxar, got him to lvl9 yesterday.
 
I disabled allied chat and it has done wonders. I get the odd pinging and that's it but I miss saying GG or gj

Holy moly Malf is straight broken and the difference in talents picked between masters and generally hilarious.

Eh, I guess Twilight Dream is the exception there. I didn't pay any attention to that one because that's what everyone takes in our games in diamond. The rest are pretty much verbatim. It's pretty much one build bar some choices at 1 and 7 or if you wanna go damage I guess.

Im taking a guess but i expect higher lvl to pick up ice block more often too. He's a pretty straightforward character though with most of his power already there before talenting. Higher lvl might take moonfire more often too but i dont recall what the choices are at lvl 1

Chromie's early talents are now TWO levels earlier instead of one. YAY TOXICITY.

your guess is correct. Ice Block and Blink are 2 more talents that are considerable outliers.

Artanis shields now activate at 75% instead of 50%. That sounds like a buff.

That Blink jump is considerable, you're right. That seems...strange.

I've never understood picking Ice Block for any hero. Unless you get the whole kit dumped on you immediately and catch it all, you're still dead unless your team makes massive gains in the interim. Seems like such a backwards talent and I rarely see it work. It's more an annoyance than any real kind of preservation.

Still need to position well, but malf's biggest weakness is his lack of escape, ice block allows mitigation of in-the-bag cc like judgement and the like and blocking one or more cds usually lets him walk out w/ his e

There were some great ice blocks in the no tomorrow vs. dts set last night

Yeah I guess I could see the use of it in blocking Judgement or something of that sort, but mostly I see it used as "oh shit I went too deep" or "oh shit we have no frontline" and it's just riparooni. I guess I'm looking at it from pleb level standards. I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen it used to effectively escape a CC/combo. It's kind of like Cleanse in that regard, though Cleanse does get picked more even if it's not used or not used properly.

At least in competitive Bolt TD is a devastating engage. Ice Block seems more about not dying to dive, not getting gusted away, it can be buying time for essential CDs, it's definitely a skill gap talent

Yeah in practice id assume cleanse gets taken more often as you go up but it's effectiveness doesnt really go up too much due to ppl being booty all around. A reason ice block could be more effective higher up, even if used improperly, is that ppl are prob more likely to understand they need to walk forward if someone blocks in a bad spot, the duration is deceptively long.

Oh that's a crazy bloodlust buff

Vs a Zeratul, for instance, Ice Block is invaluable. Its definitely not one size fits all, and its better in coordinated play.

In general that opens up Artanis for more opportunities, but the lowered shield amount lowers the deceptiveness that allows him to clutch peel. I think it takes away some of his unique extremes that increase his value in desperate times but guides people to wiser general play.

Developer Comments: Li-Ming’s Calamity is being used just as much as a minion-clearing tool as a Hero-killing tool, which was never the intention in her original design. By limiting this to Heroes only, it helps highlight one of her intended weaknesses which was low wave-clear potential.
There goes a massive chunk of her passive play, which is actually good because she was amazing at everything. Going with free teleports plus calamity I felt bad dominating kills AND siege (even over siege characters) AND wave clearing for XP. Using it against heroes still poses a risky dive so it's nice as a cleanup maneuver at the end of a fight that didn't quite finish matters, but isn't a ridiculously strong tool that effectively makes her an assassin-specialist instead of just assassin. That said, is it really telling that they gave her this apparently without even considering the implications on minion and siege at no mana cost?
 
Her wave clear never was that bad. Just unusual since you have to position to the side of the lane to hit the wave just right with your orb. Calamity just made it easy mode.

They released her with Ass of Johanna...

Her waveclear is pretty bad imo even w/ a perfect w. Kinda wanna call bs on calamity waveclearing being a mistake (how many months has it been?) and say that the change is to have chromie compete w/ her
