Hollow Knight: Silksong |OT| It’s SHAW-time!!!!

So was Sony just like, fuck it, we'll launch it later?

If this fucks up PSN and I can't download my saves in 9 hours I'm gonna be pissed.

Steam should have a pre-order option, especially knowing the game will be played by millions.
Yes, this was silly. Reminded me of WoW expansion launches where the realms would just shit the bed and either you were playing alone or had a 3 hour queue.

Purchased on the web version of steam, no issues. Maybe give that one a try?
Nintendo no issues.
Xbox purchase no issues (didn't try gamepass).
Purchased on playstation but when I try to play having a license issue.

The absolute corposlop that was Concord wasn't played even by their closest relatives, meanwhile a 2D indie game made by a bunch of dudes that runs on a toaster is selling gangbusters. The world is healing.

Cannot get it to launch via gamepass. License issue. Unpacked properly now but still license.

I repaired and verified files and it works now.

Fuck Steam I'll buy it on GOG, that hasn't crashed it seems.
Can't believe it's been down for half a hour, what a fiasco.

Team Cherry set the steam page up on their end, no pre-order/pre-load is not a Valve decision.

This was to drive day 1 visibility across all online stores for the title. *IMO

Looks like I could grab it on switch. But I have soon to leave so I'll when I return if still nothing on psn I'll take it on switch

As someone who never really followed this series, can anybody give me a quick summary why it's so insanely popular?
I played a bit of the first. Widely regarded as the pinnacle of Metroidvaina's. I got so far, dropped it for a bit, then couldn't remember what the fuck to do when I went back to it so it got dropped forever.

I suspect a similar fate awaits this game.

GamePass is completely fucked too. Getting an error code 0x803f8001 saying I need to sign in and verify the license (am already signed in and re-signed in too)

Wasn't into the first one, but I'm happy to see it crashing everything and doing gangbusters. Awesome stuff. Definitely going to jump into this tonight just to be apart of it. Awesome to see hype like this.

Lore-Rich
Atmosphere
Art Direction
Content-filled
Bargain Price
Great Game
Exploration
Setting

That's my guess. Had to stop myself 34 minutes into the first game otherwise I'd probably not be thinking about Silksong at all today.

I thought the EMMI stuff was great. But yeah, my point is that this is how thin the line is. With Hollow Knight you think it's fine and are defending the lack of signposting. With Dread, there are lots of people that trash it and say it's too much handholding and you'd be on the other side. It's usually a very slim line that determines whether the signposting is successful in guiding you and making the levels and progression make sense, but while hiding that they are signposting so you feel the joy of discovery.

I get what you're saying, but the difference between Dread & HK is not a "thin" line... Dread (as I know you are aware) literally gates you from going back to certain areas until completing the "appropriate" section, doesn't it? So that's like on the opposite side of the spectrum in terms of design principle, and you literally cannot get "lost" in the same way you can in HK, it just won't require the same level of interest and attention into the map/environment. Which seems very purposeful.

And I'm not even saying that's bad... I think it works for Dread, I really enjoy Dread. There's room for both experiences.

Its a good/great game with a lot of content at an insanely good price.

Fan bases of indie darlings can be quite offputting so if you're at all interested it's best to play it before engaging with the community. Undertale and its developer is forever ruined for me because of it's obnoxious fanbase.

If there was no pre-order or preloading it's because Team Cherry didn't want to. Probably to prevent spoilers, maybe there's actually something of a story that can be spoiled 👀
Bought the original but never played it so not going to buy this one right now, will wait for a sale even if it comes in 6 months, my backlog is even longer. However it's fun watching fans struggling to get the game.

thats why i dont engage with "so called communities" , 99% are just people who are either obcessed ,cant take a different opinion and are just plain morons

Still can't buy it on the PSN app.
I guess it's good I won't be home for another 8 hours.

The first game is considered by many to be the best Metroidvania and one of the best indie games.
The sequel was announced 6 years ago so there's been a lot of time to built up anticipation.
Fans eagerly awaiting news about the game before every event (TGA, Nintendo directs, summers games fest, etc) only to be disappointed became a bit of a meme. I honestly though the lack of updates and communication from the devs were going to sour some people on the game, but it seems to have had the opposite effect lol.
