Its a very satisfying Metroidvania with a great art style, atmosphere and ost. But it has an absolutely batshit crazy fanbase who for some reason parade it around like its the jesus christ of video games. I love the game, but the fanbase is borderline undertale-like.

It's the reason I gave Hollow Knight a try. The fanbase. I found it severely overrated, but don't you DARE tell them that. There are SO many other and better Metroidvania games. I put in a few minutes of Silk Song on GP.......and yeah, its definitely more of Hollow Knight, isn't it.....

Okay what is the general consensus so far?

Beautiful, great atmosphere, superb tight controls, similar to Hollow Knight but tweaked gameplay mechanics and different drops. I want to play more NOOOOOW but have to wait for the rest of the family, everybody want to see this (unfortunately!!!)

Criticism - It's zoomed in a bit too much, I want to see more of the world. Noisy main character but can fortunately be silenced in the menu. 45 degree diagonal down attack, can hopefully be replaced with a regular down attack later.

In all this excitement I just want to remind any souls haters here that this game will filter you and you will grow resentful.

If you hate masocore but love SotN, you probably won't love Hollow Knight. It isn't that the game is hard, moreso the game requires commitment from you and is a very arduous journey. It's super fun but you have to enjoy hard games and not really have much fomo because it will be a barn burner getting thru this thing, it just is how it is.

For many this sounds like a perfect game but there is no doubt in my mind this is also why it has detractors.
