Hollow Knight: Silksong |OT| It’s SHAW-time!!!!

I never finished the first one. Is it suggested to play and finish the first one? The hype is kinda getting me to buy and play this now, and I'm not usually a victim of fomo. Very intrigued to just buy this now.

4k/60fps docked unless you turn on tv framerate mode, then its 1440p/120fps. Despite my initial concern, handheld is always 1080/120
Now I debate if I want achievements/trophies or not….

This is super impressive specs.

THEY MAKE YOU WASTE A FUCKING EQUIP SLOT JUST TO SEE WHERE YOU ARE ON THE MAP. AGAIN!

I'm furious. Fuck this game.

Could finally pick it up on PSN.
Already downloaded and ready to go on the Ps5.
Can't wait to get home, I'm going to break my "eat healthy during the week" rule and pick up some beers on my way home.

"B...but it's only some annoying loud minority that likes the first game. E...everyone know it's shit compared to: game I played when I was a kid so I have nostalgia for it"

Someone will probably have a map up soon if it's not up already.
Going to wait a few days since I still have some other games to finish.

I don't understand hype for this game, is just another 2d platformer.
having played an hour I dont relly either

It is not bad - but it is basically the same game as Hollow Knight 1 with a different main character and new areas/enemies

Is is nowhere near the differnce between Ori 1 and 2. This is an expansion pack

Ahh. I got my answer now. Guess I will use whatever is needed first chance I get, as I do want to see where I am.
It's super annoying, because right off the bat they make you choose between seeing where you are on the map, or having more money drop from enemies.

Which you went with?
I'm begrudgingly going with money for now, since there are only two areas available to me. But I know I'll have to switch over to the compass soon.

I have an absolute retard-brain when it comes to remembering locations. I have aphantasia, so I can't visualize anything, and I have major memory issues from years of chemo. I won't be able to get through this game without seeing where I am on the map.

As far as i know it started as an expansion to the first one but they decided to make a full game out of it.

Later on can I get the more money deal? or now or never? same for map?

Yeah, you can just swap what you have equipped at any bench. It's not the biggest deal, it's just incredibly annoying.

I hate that the devs make you choose between a standard QoL option and actual gameplay boosts.

Fair point for sure lol Metroidvania's in itself it maze like to me anyhow

2+ hours in and it's good and feels good to play a high quality Metroidvania. My only complaint so far is the stupid down attack which goes either to the left or right instead of straight down. Seems like they were bored and just wanted to come up with something new, as it's mechanically stupid unless they make something out of it later or there are upgrades that change it, but early on if I want to reach some secret places or higher places by jump attacking enemies, it gets annoying real fast.

Anyway imma go back to playing it.

So happy for this team. When you price your game for $20 instead of getting greedy & take your time making it, you should be rewarded big time.

The best part of these games is the growth and build options as you unlock more upgrades, movement options, and charms. No one can get close to understanding why these games are loved in an hour. You literally spend the first hour with nothing but D-pad and some basic directional attacks. I just finished playing an hour of Silksong, and it literally starts the same as the first game except you can sprint right off the bat now and the down pogo is diagonal.

Hollow Knight 1 alone had more size/biome diversity, mechanical complexity, build variety, and better boss fights than both Ori games combined.

I'm enjoying the game so far, beat the Bell Bug, though annoyingly it did double damage for no reason which when you start with 5hp is kinda hard to start, but I beat it in like 3 tries

Couple of things I'm not 100% on:
  • The lack of the Charm system, so now I pretty much have to keep the compass on, this may change though as I play
  • The lack of the Pogo, instead its a diagonal spike down, this could be good later, but theres someting about the switch 2's buttons that make it harder than it should be, HK was similar thinking about it

Buckle up guys...We have another BG3 and ER situation....Other devs are not happy with Silksong cause is too cheap.

I love seeing these idiots sweat. The fact that they willingly post inflammatory shit like that also just helps spread the good word. Keep it up lmao

Good games will sell.

If this guys game is good (which, let's be honest, it probably isn't) it will still sell at $20. HK:S is a finite experience, people will eventually want a new metroidvania to play, they're not gonna completely ignore a good one because it's the same price as HKS but a little worse.

AAA games have been priced the exact same of each other regardless of quality forever. I didn't skip out on buying a game at $60 because it's not as good as BOTW.

Devs are retards. News at 11. 90% of them have no clue how they made a successful game and lucked into it. Lightning in a bottle. Rarely can they keep delivering the sauce or one upping themselves.

If you're questioning what should I price my game st because something else in the genre went with $20, you're in the wrong industry. Make a great gMe, charge what YOU want to, and if it's good it will sell no matter what.

Plenty of us here would've paid $30 or $40 for silksong sure but team cherry made a decision that they were good with for what they made.

They'll make money no matter what, but they clearly wanted as many people as possible to get this into their hands.

Then this clown adding its a disservice to other devs to price it $20? Fuck off loser. They can price it whatever they want. Same with GTA6. Quality is subjective. The game could've launched for $5, and people find it shit, or Free to play and it's amazing. It's irrelevant.

Make a good game. Don't worry about what others are doing. Focus on your craft.

Ah yes I knew in part the low price was to fire shots at the Games Industry as a whole. Even after the HK community WANTED to pay more and Team Cherry said lolNO.

This! Focus on your game and if it is a good game, it will be noticed. I see no reason they can't still charge $20, assuming it is a decent game, it's still near impulse buying price. Also the clown saying it's a disservice, shit I hope that idiot was trolling or kidding. If not, he is a wacko lunatic.
