Why would they hold back a release date pending the release of a game on another platform? They are probably aiming for November but might have to slip to December. Or more If they just can't squash some big bugs.

It would be a bigger shock if a big Sony Studio AAA game didn't get some sort of delay. I think they're on 7+ year run right now?
 
If its true Sony will wait until the last minute to announce it. Won't want anything to affect the momentum they have right now.
 
Going by past release Horizon was supposed to launch in 2016 but it got delayed to Feb 2017, so it could be the same case with Forbidden West. Forbidden West, GG said they are targetting 2021 window, but due to bug fixes/polishing/fine tuning things could have the game miss 2021 and launch in 2022 and this is perfectly fine. I just don't get why this is being made a big deal

I'm not sure it was ever a question of money though. It's their flagship franchise surely they have, within reason, had as much as they needed from day one. It's either lack of talent or vision or both (not as XGS as a whole, just within the group making this Halo title).

I think so too. Tbh I think most <insert game name here> will get a delay, because it has happened A LOT for the past 7 years. Some games like Uncharted 4, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 got multiple delays.
Deathloop got delayed, Kena got delayed, TLOU2 got delayed, Halo Infinite got delayed, God of War 2022 got delayed, Hogwarts got delayed, I could go on, but we all know what is happening.

Honestly I would be much more surprised and impressed if anyone would dare to predict a game to be released on time actually.
 
It doesn't take insider knowledge to realise that the likelihood of the game coming out this year is slim.
I'm expecting Feb/Mar 2022 and fine with it.
I believe the disappointment for some may be negated by another surprise fall announcement.

For sure, but when a game is nowhere even close to done you can give it a long delay window and not have to pump a shit ton of cash into it and rush it. If 343 turned round now asking for more time it could be a different story since another delay to next year would be a PR nightmare.
 
I really don't expect any implemented major franchise from Sony to release something this year on PS5.
They really showed almost only unfinished games so far and the corona times did not make the situation better.

But maybe they get it out before x-mas. But they should really communicate it if the game get's a release date this year or not.
And GT 7 ... I don't expect it to be released in the next few years .... they always needed much longer than expected since Gt4.
 
He also heard and said Scarlet Nexus would be day one on GP. This made Namco Bandai officially shut him down and tell it was fake news. He is as dishonesty as any person in MS pockets.

Also this "news" is coming exactly in the first good week for Xbox Series since launch with Flight Simulator, Coalition's showcase, Halo Infinite beta...

Horizon not coming this year is a possibility and not because he knows something.
 
When they didn't give a date at reveal and said might slip till 22 I assumed it would. Everything getting delayed, wouldn't be surprised if Halo slips too.

Except that wasn't started or leaked by Grubb, many others in Eurogamer nad Gematsu had already said that they had information that corroborated that.

i agree, they also need to stop lying about release windows. If they hadnt given a 2021 window to any of these games, folks wouldnt care if it gets pushed internally to next year. The reason they wait to announce these things is because delays affect their forecast, and stock prices. They usually wait until they need to update their forecast to announce a delay, or the end of a fiscal quarter.

publishers need to stop lying about release windows. I dont want to hear anything until they are 150 percent certain they can hit that date
 
Dude's a clown and in the same league of "LeAkErZ iNSiDeRz" as this Tidus dude was for Sony leaks.

But if the game indeed ends up getting delayed, I won't be surprised. He's probably taking an educated guess because Sony and Guerilla are radio silent after that gameplay demo, and without a release date.
 
Would be odd for Sony to have nothing big this holiday season. Unless they want third party stuff like COD and BF to try and carry things. Or they just feel the momentum will continue to carry them even if Horizon is delayed until Feb/March. It probably will. MS has two big hitters in Halo and Forza and Nintendo has Metroid and Pokémon.

It doesn't matter, it's not like they are going to release these games on PS4 first and then PS5 later.

We already know GT7 and GOW will be released next year so it's not a crazy prediction that Horizon 2 might come next year also.

Yeah, I mean Sony themselves said they are uncertain if it will make this year which is pretty much a confirmation of a delay.

If Horizon does get delayed then Sony first party is going to have a rough 2021. Only ratchet and returnal.
