Horizon Forbidden West Delayed to Q1 2022 (broke by Grubb, verified by Schreier)

He was also hearing that PS5 would cost 599$ and that Microsoft was waiting to undercut their price with Series X.
He was also hearing about Starfield in 2021 and Gold becoming free :messenger_tears_of_joy:
So lol 🤷 I guess we'll find out when an official date is announced.

THIS!

I don't think it's unfair to say Sony first-party never release on original release day. Maybe once in a blue moon.

it is part of their strategy. Keeps the momentum going and allows them to dangle carrots and sweep up pre-orders.
They aren't the only ones, but they should really be setting a better example.

These insiders throw out guesses left and right, of which half turn out true and the others not. Then everybody thinks they are credible.

And yeah yeah, some of them surely have actual sources.

Anyway, I thought Horizon 2 would be delayed before Grubb even said anything.

He also said Starfield was coming this year ... and Battlefield would be on game pass day 1.

And he said Xbox Live would be free.

Oh and he said Nintendo was gonna put out 4K Switch Pro this year lol

He said XBox live was being discussed as being free. He was right. It was.

And if it did?

We already have a banger of a year this year with Returnal, Ratchet & Clank and other smaller stuff coming like Deathloop, Kena, Ghost of Ikishima, Death Stranding DC and the multiplatform stuff..

It just makes 2022 extra crazy with GT7, Horizon and possibly GOW along with Ghostwire Tokyo and other games like Sifu.

They can't keep PS5 in stock so it won't affect there sales at all.

For the fall they will just have Battlefield, COD. They also have already had alot of big games in the first year of PS5 so they can hope for sales boost for some of there already released games such as Sackboy, Returnal, Miles, Demons Souls and Ratchet. They also have upcoming ports like Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding. I think if they are worried about lack of games in the fall is to turn around a port for Last of Us 2 for PS5 with some extra features added into the game.

They should also have a State of Play before all the big hitters come in November so atleast people know what's coming if they are not getting anything this fall.

Now it's all over twitter and youtube, with mainstream gaming channels picking up on it.

Are everyone basing this story on Grubb's gut feelings?

Seems like nowadays people are just expecting to much.
If a company releases a release-window people expect that it get's released in that time.

If I may point to the history of video games where it was really rare that games were released at their designated release window.

Forespoken is slated for 2022 as well. Not sure about FFXVI, but I understand it's progressing smoothly.

Will be gutted if this game gets delayed but not necessarily surprised. They were never sure it would make this year & now the covid is messing things up, yet again.

It will be worth the wait though.

hopefully... no reason to get a PS5 until it comes out so the longer it takes the easier it should be to get hold of a console. actually, if it's not coming out until 2022 then i might as well just wait for the Slim/Pro model in 2023. i guess it doesn't make sense to buy a console for just one game.

It's amazing how this dude has managed to build a reputation based mild and predictable guesses.
Yep i can almost bet you jeff grubb literally took the recent jim ryan interview where he talks about game delays and wanting the best product possible - and then making an educated guess that it applies to horizon forbidden west.

Not saying anything I think we don't all already know. Horizon will be spring 2022 and I'm calling it now God of War spring 2023

If you guys don't believe him, why reply to the thread? Just to state that you don't believe him?

I could see it slipping into 22, I don't think it would make a significant difference to console sales.

What is with you defending these cunts? First Schreier, now hobo dipshit Grubb. They are jokes and should be treated as such.

I just don't get the vitriol for a bunch of people whom have such a minor role in my and assume your lives. Save that anger for more important people in the world. If they are jokes, as mentioned ignore them.

The writing's on the wall. We have the reveal trailer and one 10-minute demo to show for it since it was announced and yet people really think it's coming out within the next 5 months lol. Wouldn't be surprised if making the game work on PS4 is the main culprit for the eventual delay.

He makes predictions (official, vague, off the cuff etc) in just about every one of his podcasts. The only "insider" who's hit rate is better is Jason Shreier and he only comes out with something two or three times a year.

With this one, why are we even caring about it? Sony themselves have said they are "working" on making Horizon 2 a 2021 game. So it'll be no shock if it misses.

We'd know if it was coming out this year by now. Hopefully they make Q1 2022. If they don't, it'll be Q3 2022 so they can market for the holidays.

Can't believe a word that fat cunt says. Believe nothing til it comes from Sony HQ.

Thats more than we got for starfield and people thought that was coming out this year or early next KEKW.
Back to horizon the game looks like they are well along in where there dev cycle is, with a full 5 months left before years end.
The game isnt delayed until GG says so, putting any stock into what grubb says is just weird at this point.

The FedEx simulator was his worst game since the GBA one with the solar sensor.
If you think so....you're entitled to your opinion....

I thought it was quite original and enjoyed the thoughtfulness, slower pace and some of the innovations.

There were parts where the cutscenes went on way too long, at the start and near the end but most of the games (10's of hours) were very enjoyable to me.

Of course it's not a mainstream type of game.

PlayStation need more studios....

Square is a great price right now, they should just pull the trigger and pick up Arc System Works or MiHoYo too.....

Then they can have some flexibility with releases and more regular games dropping.

Sony Corp. has delayed the upcoming PlayStation game Horizon Forbidden West to the first quarter of 2022, according to a person familiar with the matter. Previously it had been scheduled for release this holiday season. Horizon Forbidden West is an open-world action-adventure game and the sequel to the critically acclaimed PlayStation 4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn, which sold more than 10 million copies following its release in 2017. The sequel is planned for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.

The setback is the latest in a year that has been full of delays across the industry, including one of Sony's other big PlayStation exclusives, the untitled sequel to 2018's God of War. Covid-19 has caused production challenges, forcing developers to work from home for months, but the pandemic has also provided a cover for developers to bump games that were facing obstacles regardless.

In June, PlayStation Studio head Hermen Hulst said the game's holiday release date was tentative. "For Horizon, we think we are on track to release this holiday season," he said on the PlayStation blog. "But that isn't quite certain yet, and we're working as hard as we can to confirm that to you as soon as we can."

Sony didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. News of a possible Horizon delay was first mentioned by video game reporter Jeff Grubb on the podcast Giant Bomb.

Must be confident to get this out before Sony. I'm bummed but not unexpected tbh.

according to a person familiar with the matter.

I mean, we need a little bit more than that really.

If this is true there's another Sony exclusive delayed. And out of GT, GoW and Horizon 2, this game was the one most pigeon-holed for a 2021 release. I can buy the argument some people had about the other games being 2022 as they barely talked about them.

lol I don't think its that that bad.

If Horizon Zero Dawn indeed is delayed, I feel it will suck, but this year had some gems Returnal, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Bravely Default 2, Scarlet Nexus, and the rest of the year as some solid releases

Far Cry 6 is still coming out, that Left 4 Dead successor, Dying Light 2 etc.

Not the worst, but could be better.

BF2042 will likely also be my most played game this year by a lot lol
I have a feeling Far Cry 6 will be getting delayed
