Horizon Zero Dawn |OT2| Red Head Redemption

I think I've tried all possible ways to get a heart to drop from machines but it just isn't working.
Used tear arrows to rip apart everything.
Only get chilled water lol.
Used just spear.
Get nothing.
Avoid shooting canisters.
Nothing
Is there a way to guarantee 100% heart drop from the machines?.
And why is not boldly written before I sell machine hearts to merchants that "HEY BRUV YOU CAN ALSO USE THIS SHIT TO BUY WEAPONS AND OUTFIT, OH! YOU CAN'T BUY THEM BACK!"
There's a Buy Back option at all merchants. Are hearts not included in this for some reason? I never paid much attention to it.

Finished it two days ago. This was the best game since Bloodborne for me, no contest. What an AMAZING game. I always was a big Guerilla Games fan. I really, really love the Killzone franchise but they outdid themselves with Horizon: Zero Dawn. And I am very glad that they get the praise they deserve now after all the shit they got for every single Killzone game.

Great story, great main-character, great world and amazing graphics. Easily the most impressive game there is today on all platforms. I made so many screenshots.

And the most important part for me: Finally another open-world RPG with a truly fantastic battle system. Very intense fights with lots of possiblities. The last time I had so much fun with an open-world RPG was Dragon's Dogma.

Another great thing about the game is that nothing overstays it's welcome. It seems to have just the right amount of content and the world isn't too big nor too small. I never ever felt bored for one second doing all there was to do. It was fun and motivating.

I'd be surprised if the final games looks exactly like that.

Scenarios and performance might change dramatically. This is a vertical slice put together for presentation purposes.

You know what happened between the first reveal of GOW3, the playbale demo and final build?
You don't know. Let alone that GOW4 base game is finished and the tasks left are just refining the whole game and not downgrading it.

The credits are the longest I've seen since MGS4! It's been like 20 min and it's still going!

I loved that final scene. It's been a long time since I liked a long solo game like this, I usually drop them pretty fast these days. I hope GG ditch Killzone and use Horizon as their main franchise!

Edit : post credit scene! Hype + 100!

I would love for them to take everything they learned in telling a story and building great characters and apply it to Killzone. I always loved the KZ aesthetic.

It will look exactly like that or even better. It's Santa Monica and God of War. They always deliver and they always made the best graphics on PlayStation. No room for concerns.

40+ hours later and two things have become quite annoying to me:

1) I hate being limited to only four weapons. Most of the time I'm too lazy to jump into the menus to equip a more scenario-appropriate weapon and simply use whatever I already have at my disposal.

2) I also can't stand the limited resources. I am pretty much maxed out with every resource and it's just annoying to constantly be reminded that my inventories are all full. Bah.

You don't need to carry that much crap. Sell, sell, sell.

The thing is I don't have anything to purchase. I have all the Shadow/Lodge weapons already. The only thing I can think of buying are outfits, something I haven't done yet. I'm still on the second outfit given to you early on because I haven't seen another one that looks better. :/

But you're right, it might be a good idea to sell just to clear up space and avoid the capacity error for a while.

Yeah I'm not talking about selling for money, just sell to clear space. Or hell just drop the items then.

Thinking about just putting this on easy to try and finish. I gave it a fair shot, but I just hate everything about the game besides the story and the environment

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Thinking about just putting this on easy to try and finish. I gave it a fair shot, but I just hate everything about the game besides the story and the environment

Damn this is probably one of the top 3 best controlling open world games on top of the incredible combat. I don't think putting in on easy will really alleviate the issues you have.

Probably right, but I'm determined to get some value out of it haha. I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like it

So I've finally been playing this for the last week and now really enjoying it. The game says I'm around 49% complete but I'm trying to do all the side quests errands etc along the way too, so I'm not sure exactly how far in the story I am.The last 2 story missions I did were the
missile command (which was great)
and
The assassination attempt on the king (not so great. More on that below)

Anyway I had pretty high expectations and after a bit of a slow start everything started to click. The combat, especially against the big stuff is so good. I love setting up a stupid amount of ropecaster traps and luring stuff into them. The story is also getting really interesting and I'm keen to see where it goes. One thing though that I gotta mention that's been bugging me

It suffers from the same old mistake that 99% of other games with conversation wheels suffers from. That is the old 'you stand exactly there, and I'm a stand right the fuck here, and lets just chat yo'. Seriously this irks me, especially here, when everything else is so immersive, and then I have to go have another unnatural sounding chat to learn about some of the admittedly interesting lore. The only games I can think of that I've played that got this right are the Witcher 3 and to a lesser extent Mass Effect 3 (haven't played Andromeda). People do things while they are talking and move around etc, which is kinda what people do in the real world. Anyway its prob my main gripe, and one of few I have overall

Also just regarding the above midgamish mission
the assassination attempt
,what was up with
this guys dramatic backup plan involving calling in 6 Glinthawks. Like, for real bro? I thought they missed a good opportunity to have the city swarmed by them, and you would have go around helping defend areas etc. It could have looked visually very cool. But nope, just 6 :(
Regarding the standing still while talking, it's fine. It's the modern game version of character cutouts next to their text.

When I'm summoned to the office at work and tasked with a new job, that's typically how the conversation goes: my boss sits right the fuck there while I stand the fuck here being told what to do lol.

My little cousin whos 8 takes down Thunderjaws, Snapmaws, and Stormbirds like nothing, the combat is so well done

Have you tried different weapons? You don't have to do everything with the bow.

I tried the trip wire and the tie down thing, as well as the traps. I just get annoyed having to gather resources and craft all the time. What's funny is normally I love a bow character. Oh, and I'm not saying it's hard...it's just I find it tedious

Game is SO GOOD. I have no clear idea how many hours I've put in already, but it's been quite a while. Much longer than I anticipated to be honest, but it just never gets boring. I think this will be the very first game which I will get the platinum trophy for, even though I'm not all that big on trophies at all. To me that really speaks to the game's qualities.

Just finished my first Cauldron. Man, that was intense!

It's weird, the game just keeps getting better and better without really needing to do anything. The core gameplay loop is just so satisfying, I go out of my way to get into fights.

Also, I'm sure it's been discussed plenty already, but the health system is really a nice touch. Such an ingenious tweak to avoid wasting health potions and that.

See that right there would even be different for this game, (and most games like it to be fair). Maybe he/she might be flicking through some papers or going through their computer, or they might get up and walk around, but they wouldn't be standing a few feet away from you having a chat, intently focused on nothing but you for a few minutes.

One of the few times in this game I can remember where a chat didn't didn't take place like that was around the beginning when you were lying in bed the night before the trial, talking to that other girl. I got to lie down and chat instead of stand there.

Anyway not to harp on it but the witcher 3 did such a good job of this. Anything that wasn't a quick chat to an npc with a couple of line of dialogue was generally really well animated, with characters doing more then just standing a few feet away from each other having long deep and meaningfuls.

Despite that, as mentioned, it's a minor if annoying gripe that just takes me out of the experience a bit. Otherwise game is great

Really happy with how the platinum is set up. It ensures you experience almost all of the game without any needless padding. After completing the story and getting the collectibles I only had one left which was straightforward (knock over the training dummies).

The credits are currently rolling, and I only have a few tasks left for the Platinum: finding 3 more training dummies, and getting all Suns on the remaining hunting grounds (ugh - the timed challenges are probably the only think I don't particularly care for in this game, and it's why I left them until last).

The plot and lore was way more engaging than I had expected it would be before the game launched.

I went in with high expectations, and Horizon still managed to surpass them. I've always enjoyed Guerrilla's games and it's good to see them getting the acclaim they deserve.

Upgrade you skills that drop more loot. Also, it does tell you. It says something to the effect of 'trade with merchants' and 'sell for shards'.

That's true but for stuff like hearts it doesn't explicitly say you can use them for outfits. I think they should have clarified that a bit more. For stuff like Blaze it clearly says you can use it for fire arrows and ammunition, it doesn't do that for everything.

There is a merchant that allows you to buy hearts. They are located in
Meridiani
.

Lmao. It's the division all over again

Yup hearts aren't included.

I haven't gotten to meridian still exploring the east side of the map.

There's a merchant in Meridian that sells specifically machines hearts.

Edit: Oh, you didn't reach the city yet, my bad.

The gate is locked, I am 70% through the game - do I ever get back in mission wise?

That special armour from getting the power cells needs the final one which is in the above

Am I f00ked?

Relax, you'll get there eventually.

Edit: Wait, that shouldn't be your last power cell, if that's the case then it should be open. I think you're either missing one power cell and is not in the temple, or you're missing two power cells.

But I didn't realise there was one in the place I mentioned until after Ieft and the gate was locked

About 100 hours in now, Level 40-something. Great game. The core mechanics continue to be very enjoyable, even after all this time. I love the lack of padding, too -- every mission or objective seems worthwhile.

I am not using fast travel at all, and it's added a lot to the game for me. Sometimes it's a long journey from one side of the map to the other, but it's always an enjoyable one, with plenty of beautiful sights and interesting encounters. And it adds to the immersion.

I suppose my only complaint is that I've gotten to the point where my skill tree is pretty much maxxed out. I've got a few more slots to fill, but they aren't abilities I think will make much difference. I suppose my lack of fast travel has caused me to level faster than an average player would, so maybe I've gone through the skill tree faster than normal.

Otherwise, though, no complaints. Fantastic, beautiful, very well-done game.

You guys did know you can go back to
Rost's grave
after major events and Aloy will talk to it?

Also, I'd wouldn't be surprised how many people missed out on extra NPC chatter during or after missions. For example after Erend and the Sun Priest make their first appearance you can talk to both of them even though the game doesn't indicate anything.

The Hunter's lodge has a fair bit of this as well.

Also, there is an extra scene after talking to
Sylens
if you go to the
Sun Ring
without the disguise. It's great.

Made a semi-interesting discovery today. There's a hidden cave beneath the spire. I was scrambling around the base of it and fell in.

It's fairly large but there's nothing inside.
33209197434_7c17152d39_c.jpg

This is the way I got in. I could never manage to climb back out. Had to fast travel to escape.
34011161436_d7238bb337_c.jpg

There's another hole right in the front, the east side of the spire, but an invisible barrier keeps you from entering or exiting that way.

33209174834_9544515e3d_c.jpg

I went back but so far haven't managed to find the original entrance I fell in. It's somewhere along the spire's base around the southwest side.

Is it worth playing the end of the game on very hard?

I've been playing on hard but haven't died in forever. I find most enemies now bring no fear when I come across them. I'd like that to change to how it was in the early game, where every enemy encounter felt like life or death.

I'm lvl50, have completed all collectibles but only just got back to story missions. Just finished Grave Hoard.

Horrible feeling this will be left behind for me now, Zelda scratched the open world itch and Persona 5 and Nier will have my attention till 3rd quarter.

I'm confused.

I've found all the flowers. I've found all the vessels. I've found all the banuk relics.

When I go to each person in meridian there's no mention of a reward ?

You just go into their merchant menu and trade them for a
terrible
reward box.

Thanks.

Is there any mission you do that means you can't go back? Like if I do a mission does the game end and I can't go back and do all the collectibles?
