At this point, and unless Edge is given an absolutely outlandish weight, i don't see an 8 dropping the MC under 88. Or a 9, even maybe a 10, pushing it to 89 tbh.

A 6 or 7 though... :/ but I don't really see that happening.

With it in the upper third of the 88's now I don't think a seven would drop it, and I think a ten might just knock it up to 89. Don't see an 8 or 9 having any affect.

Why though? Because it lower the overall score of something people put so much faith in? Seriously those who reviewed it and didn't like it gave it the score that they felt it should have. From what I seen so far the game is getting a lot of praise and have a overall good impression. A lot of people are excited for it, including me and I think it's going to do well despite those low scores, so please don't be petty and insecure and put a petition to remove other people opinions because it doesn't align with yours.

Also if you was just kidding this comment is for those who are really considering of doing it.

Edit: Please don't make this into another Uncharted 4 situation.

You haven't touched the game yet, how would you know how boring the games world is? Have any reviews mentioned that the game world is boring or did they say it's dynamic and exciting? Did reviewers actually indicate that the dynamic nature of the world is one of the biggest pluses in the game or did I imagine it?

Opinions are opinions, but they have to be based on something.

So the extra costumes/weapons you get with the preorder psn version, anyone know if they can be unlocked during the game? Anything been said about if they are worth getting?

He watched the stream of some dude on azubu I think. Have u read his comment regarding the fog in the impression thread?

Edit: I think he even uses 4chan as his evidences.

I respect Metacritic and Opencritic as analytical tools but the worry about the meta score saddens me. It is nice to see that validation when that favorite game goes into the 80's and 90's range. Sure. But if a few additional reviews push the score up or down it shouldn't be a worry, right?

If a critic I respect gave the game a glowing review I am happy about my purchase. When a chorus of critics write glowingly about Horizon then the reputation of the game is secured. One or two more or less points on Metacritic won't change the fact that Guerilla has created a wonderful new IP that gives them the option to continue the IP if they wish and thrive as a studio. 87, 88, 89 just doesn't matter really.

Also, I know sometimes publishers tie bonuses to meta score, but I'm just speaking to the attention it gets over a score of a game that's already been reviewed as great or amazing.

Read that whole fog thing decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, but seriously making baseless claims is frustrating. At least post some evidence, maybe I missed where a reviewer said the game world is boring, indicate it in your post so we can have a discussion. Don't just throw stuff out there and cover yourself behind "it's just my opinion I guess"

I wouldn't really call it worry but more curiosity (well, at least on my part). I just want to see where it lands. Whether it goes down, up or remains the same, it has been made abundantly clear to me that this game is very legit.

Thanks! Exactly what I was hoping, re the lights. I've been on minimal media, and it occurred to me I hadn't seen or heard anyone talk about night fights. But fighting robots at night sounds deadly cool ...

Is not important at all but it entertains us while we wait for the game's launch (and are stuck at work). It's irrelevant but a little game some of us like to play.
At least that's what I do.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a great game and lays the foundation for something special. It could be so much more if it doesn’t fall into the open world trap that most open world games (especially Ubisoft) fall into. A great story, a great character, and great delivery of it. The gameplay leaves something else to desire at times. I do hope there is a sequel or another story in this franchise that polishes the game and addresses the complaints I had.

Sure it's fun but when it crosses over to fanboy fodder it's off putting. Like the comparison to Zelda meta scores I saw earlier in the thread. Or when discussing the finer points of reviews devolved into which number is bigger and so on and so forth.

Don't mistake interest for worry though.

88, 87 or 86 etc... are all great MC averages. And reviews overall (including the not scored ones), as well as the number of "perfect" scores have already told the story.

The only reason a 90 (certainly out of reach by now) is of interest is if the Devs get a bonus for it (as has happened in the past, making MC a sword of damocles above too many dev teams). The label "universal acclaim is also a nice one to have, but is purely subjective to MC. If 90 is Universal Acclaim... what about 89?

At this point in time, the MC score discussion is just a game to see where the final score will settle. All in all, and in the "real" world there's practically little to no difference between a 8.87 score, an 8.9, or a 9.

With basically a 9/10 overall, it's now up to everyone to check reviewers they trust and read about the game if they are still interested but undecided as per a buy.

By pretty much every measurement, the game is a critical success, period.

Oh yeah no, that's dull. I'm only interested in well thoght discussions and if a new review elevates or drops the meta score or if x site it's on metacritic or not, but as interested as someone that's watching a Jenga match while blocks are being removed and he's thrilled by the outcome of the match.

My usual spot may have this tomorrow or on Friday. Already have the collector's edition on the way though. May need to pick it up regardless and just sell one copy. Haven't been this excited for a game, especially a new IP in a good while.

If ND fails to release a new IP this gen, then it's safe to say that we have a new king as far as first party studios goes.

Entire gen without ND new IP...... so fucking depressing.

they should have that scifi game. They're done with uncharted and I think they have 2 studios now that make games concurrently.

TLOU2 + one more currently being made. I wonder if Chloe DLC is taking the efforts of an entire team. :/

considering games like farcry only have humans and maybe a bunch of enemies. How many different enemies in fallout4? supermutants, ugly robots, humans, crabs, dogs.

this one has plenty of robot enemies + a variety of humans. I think the complaint about repetition of enemies and boring world is ridiculous myslef. The world looks fantastic. If this is boring I wonder what he think is fantastic.It looks better than skyrim Remastered, far cry, fallout etc.

To be fair i expected 1886 to be a turd (thats why i rented it and didn't buy it) and i expected NMS to be a turd (never understood the hype or interest in an exploration indie game) but I'm stoked for horizon. Looks like I finally have a good reason for buying my PS4 years ago. been waiting for a game like this to come along. 5 days away
