How Nintendo could repair the Switch 2 drama!

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
***None of these will happen, it's going to take for Nintendo's stock to drop for them to get the message****

There is a difference between being a fan and being a fanboy. For example:

Fan example: I like Nintendo games and believe they are some of the most talented developers in the business. With that said, I will call them out on their bullshit like charging for a demo game, raising prices to crazy amounts, putting a fucking Button on the controller behind a pay wall "C" button, confusion around the whole Key game vs physical copy, and other anti consumers.

Fanboy Example: They believe that Nintendo was right for raising the price and it's justified. Nintendo only did these things to make it a better experience for you. They defend almost every action of Nintendo and often times will blame it on Imaginary shit like "tariffs" but ignoring the price was set before the fucking Tariffs. They blame all the backlash on everything but Nintendo.

Fanboys are going to announce this thing as a massive success because it "sells out for launch" but it reality it's not that big of a deal. Hardcore Nintendo Fans are like Disney fans and are fanatical. They will buy almost anything Nintendo. I guarantee you if Miyamoto took a giant shit in a box and put it up for Auction, Nintendo hardcore fans would be losing their fucking minds trying to get a whiff. There will be enough Fans and Scalpers to keep this thing sold out for the near future but I question the long game. After the Hardcore fans have their units and the Scalpers can no longer take advantage of idiots, will this thing remain a success 2 or 3 years down the road. The WiiU proved NIntendo is not too big to fail and just wonder if the Casual fan is willing to pay these kinds of prices. My issue is not with the Hardware but the Software, accessories, and other ways they nickled and dimed the consumer.

How can they fix things to please at least the Mob on the internet and maybe put a better light on things:

1. Unit Price is fine but accessories are not. I think for the tech it's worth it. Compare this to handhled pc's that cost around $1000 and the Switch 2 is a better value. They are find with that but the accessories are insane. $90 for a pair of Joysons without Hall effect sticks? $120 for a dock that is just a plastic housing with a fan built in and an hdmi port, SD express card prices, etc.
2. Vow that all of Nintendo made games will be on a physical cartridge and not a key. Scummy companies like EA and Ubisoft will no doubt use the whole "key" system but if Nintendo came out and said all of their games would be a Physical cartridge, that would help things.
3. Free Switch 2 upgrades with a Nintendo Membership. Even if they had to raise the price of the Membership $20 or whatever. If I own the Switch 1 copy of the game and pay for the Nintendo premium service, I get the free upgrade patch.
4. Give a clear explanation on why games like Mario Kart are $80 digital. What is the justification? The real answer is probably they saw how many copies sold and know they can move enough units to justify it. Their "Various Pricing structure" shit isn't enough for most of us.
5. Roll back the software prices! If they continue on this path and Sony/Microsoft are offering better experiences of games for $70 and they are $80+ on the Switch is a bad look. People will notice
6. Embrace the digital crowd and go all in on a switch box. I felt a major missed opportunity that Nintendo had for the Switch is make a Cheaper TV only unit. Some of Us play almost always on the TV anyway. Make a set top box version of Switch 2 only with no screen just a box. All games are digital and they could even sell you cloud storage. Gen Z had yet to experience their digital library vanishing so they do not see how harmful an all digital future can be. There is enough consumers who are willing to go all in on digital only.

Super unpopular opinion right now, but I don't think the game prices are as outrageous as people are making them seem. Don't get me wrong, I don't LIKE THEM, and I wish they weren't happening.

But adjusting for inflation, $60 in 2017 is about $75 today. From what I've gathered, 1st-party Nintendo games are gonna straddle that line, with some being $80 (Mario Kart World) and some being $70 (Donkey Kong Bananza). How they decide which game gets which price is a mystery, which is super annoying.

The piece of hopium/copium I'm holding onto is the fact that Nintendo doesn't not have a history of adjusting their retail prices based off of economic changes, whereas Sony/Microsoft/Apple/Nvidia/etc. generally do. So my hope is that once Nintendo sets these prices, they'll be locked in, regardless of inflation and tariff shit.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo's prices end up being the "cheap" options in a year or two.

Again, that's some copium talking. But I very well could see the PS5 getting a price increase due to inflation/tariffs (happened in some countries last year), as well as game prices across the board jumping to $80-$100 in the next few years.

It sucks, but that might just be our economic reality. I hope I'm wrong, and I hope this isn't an industry trend, and instead just Nintendo with some Nintendo greed.

But I feel like Nintendo might just the canary in the global economic mine right now.

Please stop making Switch 2 threads.

1. By showing clearly and directly, console warriors will take care of whatever they don't say to create false narratives as we've seen these days

2. Not charging for the tutorial game, it's too cheap and would be better just giving it away, all it did was just give them bad PR

3. Stop omitting good information: Free game upgrades coming, Zelda upgrades coming as NSO+ EP benefit, Pro Controller improvements, MKW having 120fps, etc.

Like they were overwhelmed by all the stuff they have to offer and couldn't give it proper space to everything... For which a 2 hours direct would have been much better

😂

I'm definitely not defending anything, and I'm just as pissed as everyone else about it. I'm just not surprised it's happening. And I think we're gonna see it from all companies moving forward.

With how unsustainable the gaming industry has been in the last four years, are we really all that surprised that this is the tactic companies will employ to try and maintain sustainability, profits, and jobs?

GTA 6 is gonna be $100. Just wait. :(

Unpopular but obviously correct opinion here.

1. $449.99 is the majority of the guessed price years before launch. The Switch 1 was always going to continue to sell. There are only two prices it would be, 399.99 or 449.99. Only uninformed lames thought it would be 399.99(sorry guys, but it's true). Everybody already knew it was going to be $449.99.
2. People who complain about the price of the console are pile-on-ers. The only reason people are complaining about the price of the console is because they live in different places where the price is not $449.99. However, many Americans don't understand these things but they see people whining and like to jump in. If the legit whiners could get this at the American price they never would have whined. Ignorance personified.
3. Every big console or device that releases now has this huge "uproar" about the game. In fact, PS5 Pro had an equal uproar very recently.
4. Everybody thought Sony needed to do something to "repair" their rep after the PS5 Pro launched
5. It turned out that the people whining were actually not the fans. The fans paid the price happily and love the console. Sony lost nothing and the vast majority enjoy their pro as evidenced by our poll here.
6. So like Sony, Nintendo should do nothing. Your whines will eventually go away and they will be left with a successful product.
7. Remember who is criticizing Nintendo fans and calling us fanboys. These are the people who made AC Shadows a success and made a post on here talking about how AC Shadows was the pinnacle for PC gaming and the reason to own a multithousand dollar gaming PC. AC Shadows. We are out here playing Bloodborne 2 and listening to the opinions of AC Shadows enjoyers. Remember who has the high ground here.

Show a new AAA Legend of Zelda game next year with a brand new style and a better art style similar to the art of Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask.

Show a new Mario Party World game next year.

Show a new 3D AAA Mario adventure game next year.

Release FFIX Remake in 2026 on it.

2 years later, release a second new AAA Legend of Zelda game, Metroid Prime 5, a new Super Smash.

Another 2 to 3 years after that aka the final years of the Switch 2 would have Metroid Prime 6 and and third new AAA Legend of Zelda game. Also a 2D HD Metroid game and a top down 3D Zelda game as a bonus. And another new Mario Party

And not only saved but also the best Nintendo console ever, even surpassing the N64!!!!

Games in the UK went from £49.99>£74.99>£44.99>£29.99 in a matter of 5 years.
How? We didn't stand for the price increases and even when corrected we knew they could go lower and still be profitable and we didn't have the internet to complain either
When I worked for PDQ in the 2000's I got new releases for £22 and that was with PDQ taking a cut
These days people just accept shit and it needs to stop.

Option A: Do all of this dumb shit to appeal to a minority of nerds on the internet.

Option B: Do nothing and sell out just fine because the average person isn't sitting there worried about $10 extra for the MKW that was already bundled with their purchase.

I remember the scalping of Animal Crossing during the Pandemic, I didn't like the switch and people were selling New Leaf at £100+ and the switch at 600+.

I listed mine in refurbished condition for 500 with a pack in on Gumtree in 2020.

Sold in 5 minutes.

In summary I think the pricing issue is severely overblown and this will be at least sell 60 million.

Edit: Although the tutorial should be free.

Wouldn't it be nice if Nintendo built their consoles to be simple to repair? They could be honest with us that they are able to offer us a lower initial MSRP by not springing for things like hall effect sticks but also make it exceedingly simple to replace them. Need to replace your screen? Simply use the included Philips head to remove four screws, pop the broken screen out and click the new one into place. Been using the switch for its intended purpose and thus have a loose USBc port? It's modular! Just slap a new one in there! What got me thinking about this is the absolutely beautiful new joy-con and gimmick, mouse capabilities. I keep looking at the pop out with the ZL and ZR buttons and thinking that they need some kind of replaceable rub pad because those stock pads are going to get scratched up and gummed up right quick. Any thoughts on the mouse capabilities? What do you want to see Nintendo do with it? I noted during the direct that it seemed the cursors on screen were moving as if by analogue control and not 1/1 the way a true mouse would. Am I mistaken? Will this feature suck or will it usher in the future of console gaming?

This will only happen if they cant sell well. If people are happy to pay these prices, then nothing will change.

I understand your frustration and I feel the same about GPU prices.

Its important to note bashing Nintendo over product decisions issues isn't new. I'm not pasting "the video" but the above picture is the thumbnail of a 2008 YouTube Video bashing the Wii.

I also don't like the Wii but I do like the Wii U which means my opinion doesn't count.

The "drama" is a storm in a teacup, it's just the ragebait economy doing it's usual thing, just like before the Switch's launch when people were insisting that $300 was outrageous, that $60 for "portable" games was unacceptable, etc.

The general audience doesn't care and will buy it anyway.

Gamer79 Gamer79 missed that the Switch 2 is sold out almost everywhere 😂😂 They don't have to fix nothing.

Listen. I'm not taking sides here but the whole "it's sold out" argument is a little premature … let's wait and see how things trend over time.

ahahahaha switch 2 almost harv more qualificimation lotteries in jarpan then wii u ltd

considering how much gaf cried about nintendo having the audacity to charge $60 for their games it will now never end the constant poverty whining.

Here's the perfect movie for you complainers to get over it...

Nintendo should implement a policy that third party publishers can use Game Key Cards for games over 64GB. Otherwise they should have to put the game on the cart.

Bring back that seal of quality. Don't let the third party publishers fuck over your install base.

I dont see a problem with the price of the console theyre basically giving you a new game half off at 500 and 450 for base console.

My issue is with the 90 dollar carts if nintendo games actually went on sale id be ok but my god i saw wonder still for full price the other day. Like give us deals on digital at least.

Mario 3d all stars is what like 120 now used thats insane

I also don't like the Wii but I do like the Wii U which means my opinion doesn't count.
I personally liked the Wii U, but I said back then the name SUCKED. Nintendo seems to have addressed that marketing blunder by simply slapping a 2 behind Switch. At least they didn't go with 360.

Lol at anyone who thinks there is ANY drama Nintendo needs to be worried about. Get out of your delusional bubble Gamer79 Gamer79

Switch 2 will be the fastest selling consoles of all-time without changing anything. You can't manifest drama into existence. They don't and shouldn't give a damn what you think.

Get a job, hippie. And a haircut.

I mentioned this a few times but the $70 price increase that went into effect last gen was IMMEDIATELY gobbled up by inflation and supply chain issues. This is why people hate inflation so much.

Listen. I'm not taking sides here but the whole "it's sold out" argument is a little premature … let's wait and see how things trend over time.

The Switch 2 is going to outsell the WiiU LTD in the first 6 months… and in the first year probably 5-6 million more.

There is no drama. Unless you count meltdowns on niche internet sites and YouTubers with very few subscribers and views. This is faux outrage at best.

I just wanted to quote it in full again, because HOLY FLARKING SCHNIT that's some manifesto.

Market still sets the price, and people will buy it or not.

I don't see a problem insight. And I'm not being a fanboy and I'm not blindly defending any company, but I don't see a problem here. Yes the system is more powerful than the original version so it was going to be more expensive. The price is justified plus you're getting a game at a discount included in the console box. It is cheaper than the steam deck. It is the cheapest of the new handhelds on the market . Even though it is going to be the newest on the market. There's a tariff situation taking place in America right now. All console manufacturers are raising prices for their consoles and accessories. The other companies have already dipped their toes in the digital market. They even have a digital version of their consoles on sale. Nintendo's way of going about it is fair because the choice is up to the third parties if they want to use those game key cards. Nintendo is not forcing it over their heads. At this point if a third-party wants to save money they're going to use the key card if they want to please the consumer they will just put the game completely on the cartridge just like Nintendo is doing. At least nothing is being forced upon the third parties. Nintendo was leaving the decision up to the third parties and rightfully so. And no Nintendo can't force third parties to put games on the cart, otherwise they'll risk damaging third-party relationships all over again because no third party wants to be forced into something. We have to remember that Nintendo's relationship with the parties is still on shaky grounds. So Nintendo is trying to accommodate the third parties to the best of their ability. If you don't wanna buy the console then don't buy it. A lot of people prefer Nintendo first party games over third parties anyway so why are you complaining. And a lot of people tend to buy third-party games on other systems so what is the problem here. This is just an attempt to make Nintendo newest console a failure and not a bona fide success. But I don't think this attempt is going to work this time because the Japanese market has a strong love for Nintendo nowadays. They're going to make sure that the NS2 is a bona fide success. So much so that Japanese third parties is going to be putting games on the system. And from what I see American third parties are putting games on the platform, even EA. The launch lineup is OK. It is no different than the PS5 launch lineup. The only console that launched spectacularly is the original NS. The other systems did not have a launch title that blew consumers away. At least this system is launching with the grand theft auto equivalent which is Mario kart, one of the most successful franchises in the history of gaming. And I understand it may not be your cup of tea, but donkey Kong should be more than enough to please gamers. Because that game looks like it's going to be a sleeper hit. Just like Astrobot was a sleeper hit. We really have to stop trying to turn the NS2 into the Wii U. That's not going to happen. Anybody can clearly see that from a mile away. Every day I see more more games being announced for the NS2 and for that I can see that the launch is going to be fantastic. Now if you don't like buying your games digitally then that's fine. Just support the first party games since that's what I strongly believe 90% of the consumer base is going to do anyway simply because Nintendo games is just that good and consumers have been trained to buy the third-party games elsewhere. Oh another problem I have with a topic like this is that if Nintendo wants to price their games as high as the moon then that's on them. People need to stop asking them to drop the price. If they want to price themselves out of the casual market then you guys should let them do as they please. No one complains about Sony when they raise prices no one goes on PlayStation YouTube channels and scream "drop the price, lower PSN subscription fees!!". Listen this is a choice that Nintendo has made, the same way Sony has made their choices. These two console manufacturers want to raise their revenue and their profits and they have to do it too because of the tariff situation. Because these companies want to make more money and expand. Like I said, nobody complains when Sony does this so let Nintendo do exactly as they want. If anything there will be a new company that will enter the industry to occupy the lower end market. If another company sees that there's a space for them to enter, I believe they will. But with Microsoft slowly dropping out of the competition, Nintendo sees that there is a space for them to compete in the upper end market. Although the NS is a hybrid and the PS is a home console these two system really aren't supposed to be competing directly. But we all know Sony wants to release a handheld now and I guarantee you it is going to be more expensive than the NS2 so people need to stop complaining about what Nintendo's doing and let them do what they wanna do. They know their business inside out and they know exactly what they're doing. Once again, I'm not making excuses, but I don't think there is a problem with what they're doing I never seen it as a problem. I just see it as people wanting to complain in order to prevent Nintendo's newest system from breaking records and to continue with this false prophecy of Nintendo "releasing a system that is a success and then the next system is a failure, and then the next system is a success and then the next system is a failure". People just want to see Nintendo fail again, but like I said, I don't see that happening with this system so try again.
