Alright, I was laying in bed last night when all of the sudden glimpses of this movie I watched as a child passed before my eyes and I just had to know wtf it was.

It was futuristic sci fi where the main character was a human who fought in some sort of arena. In this arena the fighter's powers were regulated by this blue or red beam that shined down on you during the fight. Being he was a measly human he received 100% bonus against these freaky often several appendage baddies. I think during the climax the main character's power gained from the light was sabotaged and brought down to 0 and yet he somehow wins out against the champ. (or something along those lines.) I think the movie was late 80's or very early 90's, not 100% though. Anyone know what this movie is? I think I encountered it on HBO sometime in the 90's.

I believe that would be ARENA.

Okay, I posted this in another thread some years ago. No dice. Thought I try again.

There's three memorable things about it that I remember from a movie. A couple of scenes and a cover. The cover could be different and I could be wrong on the year.

80s or late 70s horror flick with a bare forest in the background with a girl in a victorian/settler outfit (bonnet, dress, leg socks) almost in a b/w setting but more like a drawing. Spooky cover but great enough to remember it, but yet can't even remember the title.

Two scenes were strange enough; one was a face on the bark of a tree. Almost blended in with the color but obviously you can outline a human face since this is done with make up and non-cgi effects. The plot supposedly covers that the missing settlers? were cursed or turned into trees? I could be wrong.

Then there's natives that lived among the forest, but they're not your usual Native Americans we'd know, they're more like... Mayans that worships the dead/cursed what have you by wearing white powdered make up and black crude tribal markings on their bodies. In this scene, one of them was drinking from a cow's udder. Like literally straight from the udder. As a kid this freaks the fuck out of me because I didn't know what the udder was and thought they were drinking blood or urine or lol whatever from the cow. The plot also hints that these natives are killing the cows by doing this somehow. Again my kid mind probably didn't understand this better.

Its possible that its not even a horror movie but again, the dark deary atmosphere was something else and was consistent throughout the movie. I'd love to remember the dang name of this movie again. The atmosphere of the movie impressed me enough to remember this movie for a good while and to post this at least twice.

okay there is this movie that I have been wondering about for a long time. I watched it as a little kid on tv. Basically its about this guy who as a kid has some sort of wooden harness strapped to his neck and shoulders. it seems to be punishment for something. also there is this mongol looking guy who torments him. later somehow he gets free and becomes some sort of great warlord and is even leading 18th century looling armies into battle complete with cannons and what not. later in the movie his tormentor is wearing the harness but he taunts the protagonist about how wont wear it long or something along those lines.

i really hope someone knows what movie im talking about.
Never mind, It sounded like Mongol for a second, but that came out in 2007.

OK... this is going to be hard... I'm really not expecting this to be remembered, but, GAF has surprised a lot.

Well... I saw this movie about 15 years. It was on TV. It was some sort of horror movie.

I only remember two memorable things... the setting was in some sort of abandoned hospital. It was daylight.

And the other thing I remember is that somehow, someone/something kills a person, and it is converted into a cube of meat, with some organs, the eyes, etc. visible on the cube of meat. It looked kinda goofy.

I know the name of a show, but I'm gonna ask this here.

Have you guys heard of Animalympics and is there any place I can actually buy it on DVD?
Yes, it's amazing. I think it's in rights hell though? Used to be uploaded in yt with the creator giving it approval but I think it ended up being pulled. Some crazy good quality version went up after though.

I heard a good new song hiphop the guy sings very fast you gotaad do do dandaodawjdowajdoa very fast. The song starts slow and goes fast other singer hip hopper starts the song. It is stuck in head but i have no idea what he was saying :(

This is from an old cartoon.

It has a baby owl singing something and it was VERY catchy. I believe he was walking around and had a cane too but I'm not sure.

I have this song, I thought its ''something something'' in Japan. I thought there was something with a season infront of it but it wasn't.

I know it isn't Love in Japan by Cold Play so that one is ruled out.

While I don't remember much about it I know GAF can sometimes be fucking psychic with these things.

It's an animated scifi movie I watched at some point in the 90s maybe even early 2000s. I think it was kind of CGI; whenever I think of it I get images of Gears of War, Too Human and Titan AE.

I remember the main character wearing some kind of heavy duty body armor, there was also a female lead who I think may have had red hair. For some reason the villains keep coming to mind as something similar to the Drej from Titan AE.

I'm uncertain if this show actually existed, or if I just jammed some other show together with Titan AE in my mind.

I almost wish it was that shitty movie just so it would stop bugging me. Unfortunately I'm pretty certain I watched it before Spirits Within even came out.

I remember not too long ago there was this video on youtube with a bunch of japanese people moving toward the camera doing stupid stuff in slow motion and it was set to this really chilled out hip hop song. Man I want to hear it again but I cant remember the name of it.

Heavy Metal 2000?

Umm mine is an 80s cartoon, British tv, shown late 80s or early 90s. Sort of like a variety show type thing? Similar animation style to Ovid and other french cartoons. There were...children who were all a different colour and a short about an echidna.

Alright GAF, this is from a nearly twenty year old memory and is lacking in detail...

It was very late one night, and I was flipping through the channels in search of quality late night programming when I crossed a channel that was showing something animated. I feel like it may have been USA, but Sci-Fi could have been a possibility? This was in the early nineties, sometime around 1993-1994.

All I can remember from the show was seeing a hero-type character... sword and armor and cloak, that sort of thing... and he was trying to rescue a girl who was trapped by something that appeared to be a giant ribcage. As he began to move to rescue her, he was suddenly ripped to shreds by a hail of bullets (or energy?) and I believe he died. I remember being very shocked as a kid to see the hero getting chewed to pieces like that, but I can't remember if it was some sort of mechanical trap or if there was a character with a gun.

I feel like this might be the most obscure request yet in this thread, I went through the entire thing hoping that someone else might have already brought it up, but I didn't see anything similar.

You may be misremembering a scene from THE NEVERENDING STORY.

Nope, I remember specifically stopping on the channel because I was surprised to see something animated on television at such a late hour. I can kind of see the correlation, though.

Could you describe the style of art?

Is it WIZARDS?

Nope. It was more of a 'serious' style of artwork, if that makes any sense.

This is extremely fuzzy, but I think it had an 'anime' style to it. 'Realstic' looking characters, as opposed to super-deformed or child-like styles.

A song.

Might be the Cure.

UK - early / mid 80's.

The chorus is... "there telling me lies"

The video had military bandspeople (redcoats style) doing drumming.

And that's all I can remember.

The lady trapped in a ribcage sounds like Inhumanoids to me but that's more kids action adventure than fantasy.

Describe the characters a little more?

Would like someone to ID this movie from the 80s or possibly earlier, I saw it as a kid so I'm not sure if I got it right, *I think* it's about aliens disguising as humans, I think at some point they would take off the outer human skin and inside they were humanoid glowing existence, I remember a shower scene where a guy was peaking through the keyhole of the bathroom door and the woman stripped naked and took off her skin.

Edit:

GAF please help me find this song.

It's a dance tune from the late 90s/early 00s, most likely european, probably from the UK.

I can remember parts of the music video: it concurrently shows a guy and and a girl heading out to a party from separate locations (via splitscreen) and as the guy leaves his apartment building, he urinates on the nearby bushes or the side of the building (a bit hazy on this detail).

Parts of the lyrics might go something like this: "I've got to let you go, I've got to let you go... ", and "holding me, holding me..." repeated several times.

I've had bits of this stuck in my head for years but sadly my google-fu has failed me so far. I'm counting on someone maybe actually remembering it? Thanks.

I'm looking for a movie I saw on cable television way back.

It was about a woman who lived in I believe a city apartment who became more and more increasingly fearful for her life throughout the movie because she believed (or maybe even kept seeing) someone in her apartment. I'm pretty sure she was so spooked that she bought a pistol for protection.

The part I remember most about the movie was when it finally did come for the intruder to be revealed it was this human like monster. I'm also pretty sure her friend came barging in her apartment at the last second to shoot the creature dead.

I know my description is a bit vague, but that's all I remember. I do remember it being more of a suspense movie than a straight up horror movie.

Edit: Most likely a 90's movie. Maybe a late 80's movie but I doubt it.

This is going to be a hard one..! It's an 80's early 90's movie.

When I was a kid I remember seeing the trailer for a horror movie..I think it was about someone who ressurected his girlfriend who died in an accident.

On one scene, a kid was going trough a hallway and bellow the carpet there was this big lump, that revealed to be a grotesque burned up human monster thing.

Only stuff I remember :|

Return of The Living Dead 3.

Check out the 1st movie though, it was much better.

I've got two, and I don't remember much so these will probably be hard.

Years ago, probably when I was in middle school, I was sharing a hotel room on a school trip with some friends, and we of course took the opportunity to watch some racy movie on HBO or Cinemax or something. All I can remember are a couple of specifics: the main character was a dark-haired female, she was pregnant with a monstrous child that was going to be dangerous if born and probably wasn't entirely human, she decided to keep the baby at the end, and there was a sex scene (between the pregnant woman and I think her husband) with some mild nudity (I want to say a rocking chair was involved, but I can't be sure). It definitely wasn't Rosemary's Baby, though that fits some of the points very well.

The second movie I remember from when I was very young. It was about killer ants that were, you know, killing people. The only specifics I remember are a male/female lead who share a kiss or embrace in what I thought were the final moments of the film after they've fallen into an underground... I guess a cavernous ant hill, with ants all around them. I have asked about this one before, but I don't remember getting a response.

Any ideas?

I'm trying to remember the name of a sci-fi choose-your-own-adventure style book from my primary school days. It wasn't a CYOA book, but similar. You were some sort of helmeted space marine-esque character with a jetpack (two nozzled), transporting three space felons somewhere. If memory serves me correctly, one of them was some sort of plant-like woman, another was made from some mineral substance. The ship crashed, or there was an escape, and you had to track them down on the planet or through the environment or something.

It was a great book, one I borrowed continually from the library. I wish I could remember the name...

Any help?

I'm trying to figure out the name of a cheesy horror movie I saw as a kid. It would have been released around the late 80s to early 90s and was a total low budget affair. My memory on it is very sketchy, so some of these details may not be exact.

It took place in a lab where the main character was most likely stranded and looking for shelter (I want to say his car broke down, but I'm not sure). Something in the lab was causing him to have either nightmares or hallucinations and it was later revealed the hallucinations were caused by the monster they had created or were testing in the lab. It was a brain like blob that could not walk on it's own, so it was kept on a little cart with wheels. There was also a female lab assistant named Vivian that had a topless scene (I'm positive about her name). I'm pretty sure the topless scene was a hallucination where the main character thought she was seducing him. He was imagining her opening her shirt for him. I don't remember much about the finale, but I think the brain monster went mad and the lab was being trashed. Lots of electricity flying around and all that.

I'm pretty sure the exterior shots of the lab used a building called Allied Skylights in North York, Ontario Canada because it had a fairly futuristic look. Here's a pic of the real building:

So, I was in American Apparel this weekend, listening to whatever music was playing over the PA -- which, from what I understand, is actually streamed from some AA employee's desktop? -- and heard this catchy song. I used Shazam to identify it, which spat back "R U In" by Kruse & Nurnberg.

http://www.last.fm/music/Kruse+%26+N%C3%BCrnberg/_/R+U+IN

Unfortunately, that's not the song I heard. :(

I *do* know that it was catchy, kind of dancey, but also a little sad. It had a laid back beat (not high energy dance), a female vocalist, and I remember the chorus lyrics being something like "[but i am] invisible." Yes, I realize what a long shot this is.

I'm guessing it's a recent/current song, so it strays a bit from the OT. Anyone know this one?
