I have Series X and this year I have completed many games. Even yesterday I finished Arkham Knight. Why the dislike towards Xbox, I don't get it. It has access to so many games, and have the features that enhances the experience - like Quick Resume. Why it's not simply seen as a hardware where you play games?
I'll bite.
I loved the original Xbox and 360. The controller was nearly perfect for me, the hardware was more powerful than the competition (early PS3 sucked), and they had a bunch of great exclusives. Ninja Gaiden Black and Halo CE were more than enough for me on the original, and 360 got great exclusives like Gears, Bioshock, Mass Effect, etc. early on. I always bought all the consoles, so I got to see what the other ecosystems were like. Over the course of the PS360 generation, I saw Microsoft lose it by focusing on Kinect and not investing in new IPs that would replace Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable as their flagship exclusives. Sony did that work with new IPs like The Last of Us, Horizon Ghosts of Tsushima, Death Stranding (which was originally a PS exclusive), etc.
360 was clearly the beter console in 2005-2007. They forced Sony to overhaul the network and OS of the PS3, which was great for the players. We all benefited from their competition.
I moved to PC in 2011 as my main platform because I wanted the best performance. PlayStation had enough exclusives that I eventually bought a PS4 and then a PS5. Xbox was more expensive, not as powerful, and didn't have the exclusives. I still love their controller and have used it on PC since I switched, but that's not saying much.
I wouldn't say I "dislike" the Xbox brand. I'd say I'm disappointed they couldn't keep up the pace of interesting exclusive games. They didn't focus on building new IP that would keep me hooked and playing their consoles. Instead they decided to spend that money on Game Pass, which I had no interest in. It's more disappointing than anything.
