The Year Without An Xbox: How will Xbox not putting forth an effort to sell Xbox Series consoles this year affect the gaming industry going forward?

Can you expand on this? What objective data are you using?
"According to data from IDC, the Quest 2's lifetime sales exceeded 14.8 million units by mid-2022. In contrast, the Xbox Series X/S had sold 11.4 million units by the end of 2021."

Now things are worse for xbox than before. The portal also sold around 2 million. We have no concrete data for xbox, portal and quest except a couple of countries that release sales data.

Spain for example has sales like this
Meta Quest 3: 1000
Xbox series: 700

Xbox actually has a large following but I think that following turned more people away than added to it.
That following is going to break records initially like Xbox series when they run out to buy it but the overall number is too low to sustain them based on that following alone. They still need to convince people that aren't the diehards clinging on. They might just do it.

And I believe that was before the holiday sales which is going to amplify Portal & Quest sales a lot while Xbox isn't putting much of an effort to push Series Consoles.

They just expanded into India, which is the largest gaming market, over 500 million gamers.
Both PS5 and PS4 outsold Xbox in India, 10:1. The PS5 Digital Edition costs as much as Series S in Amazon India and they have stopped selling Series X in India.
Even the respective Xbox and PS5 subreddits

Playstation really is a global brand.

For what it's worth, that was Bethesda and it was long before Xbox owned them
That's what a lot of people think but it's not true.
Microtransactions were planned as a systemwide feature for the xbox in 2005:

And this

"Microsoft itself offered a winter-themed outfit for Kameo: Elements of Power for $2.50, alongside new maps for Perfect Dark Zero and new cars for Project Gotham Racing 3. None of these early microtransactions took off in a major way, but it was all about Microsoft showing a proof of concept to other publishers"

Bethesda were just the first to listen to MS and release one for their third party game (2006) with MS' recommended pricing for these things. It was popular and people took the piss out of that DLC but the concept and system behind it was made by MS.

India is the new 1% of China 😭

Even the Middle East. Playstation probably has presence in any country with a decent gaming audience. Its cheaper than building a gaming PC in most countries.
Yes that's the reality but I was talking about the meme from when a Xbox fan said that Xbox was going to win thanks to being available in China and only needed 1% of China 😭

You don't say.
Concrete as in weekly/monthly or yearly totals provided by MS, sony or Meta but the IDC estimates and limited retail sales figures show what OnQ is saying is true. That:

"Even Portal & Meta Quest is gaining ground from under Series consoles feet."

Trust me they know this but just wanted to be a distraction.

IDC quotes from 2022 using Series X numbers as a comparison doesn't tell us anything.

Portal is an accessory, not a platform. It's not gaining ground on anything with 2 million sold, nor is it in direct competition with consoles. The Quest headset is obviously in completion with other headsets like PSVR2, which it annihilated. Your console warrior gaslighting doesn't on me, Three. Sorry.
