I don't understand the dislike towards the Xbox consoles

It's because it's American. They're already mad that we Americans have the biggest dicks in the world, they can't let us have the best console too.

I get it though. I'd be pissed if I was a non-American.

All the American guys I had were a disappointment in that area.
Average to tiny mushrooms...

French and German guys have been much more interesting.

Thew console is fine, its a great piece of tech but it doesnt matter when you software is shit, and when your games are Mid tier. They now have no SYSTEM seller, people will wait for other consoles to get their games, and the fact that Microsoft unlike Sony seems to steer the ship every few weeks in a different direction has an effect on gamers perceptions and spending habits.

Xbox has always been an American thing. Even though PlayStation gradually shifted its focus and became americanized, there are still remnants of Japanese exclusives like Gran Turismo, Demon's Souls, Kojima Productions, etc. I don't like modern American games, including those from Sony's first party studios.

Besides that, the brand is bad, Phil and his team are ultra woke and incompetent.

I have Series X and this year I have completed many games. Even yesterday I finished Arkham Knight. Why the dislike towards Xbox, I don't get it. It has access to so many games, and have the features that enhances the experience - like Quick Resume. Why it's not simply seen as a hardware where you play games?
It's not hard to see dude. No exclusives despite promises of "they're coming" since launch and buying up a bunch of publishers with nothing to show for it other than a bunch of disbanded beloved teams. They used to at least have the strongest console, but that's dead in the water after the Pro launch. Even when they were the strongest, most devs really never took advantage so the difference was negligible.

What does Xbox bring to the table that other consoles don't do better? I say that as someone who only recently ditched the brand after being a life long supporter. I've never been a sony pony,

Xbox/Microsoft deserve all the hate they get.

Maybe talking about how good are perfect dark and everwild and kill them some months later makes the head of the studio Phil like a motherfucker.

Saying that gamepass has profit and then increase the price.

Kill tango when they made an amazing.game...why did you buy bethesda?.

Moving the industry to cloud service shit.

No gears, no state of decay, no a good halo

Hardware is ok, all systems are pc now so.

This gen is shit for 3 consoles

Hardware (outside of dated xontroller) is mostly fine. Series X is a brilliant console created with care and talent.

Bur platforem is more than the box. An Microsoft is failing at making a platform at every turn possible.

I'll say this, it's not like they're not putting out exclusives. Because whem they have in recent memory(Hellblade II, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Starfield, etc.)...a lot of them are not well received...at least commerically.

You are asking me why I hate Xbox?

I didn't before this gen. I have XSX on launch. Bought one for my brother as well.

My fondest memory is of a time when I was young and out of work. I was playing my Wii because that was all I had. My bro bought me an Xbox 360 because he had a job and felt sorry for me. It was one of the greatest days of my life. I was an Xbox fan for years. I had an Xbox before that as well.

Then, Xbox went the way of the kinect and I went Sony. I came back to Xbox the beginning of this gen.

The gamepass/no exclusive thing fucked me and wasted my money. I bought the console to play games I could not on my PS5. You see how that turned out. I spent 1000+ dollars on 2 consoles and we have never played them because none of the games are good and if they are they are on Playstation. Why don't you already know that? If Xbox will buy back these two pieces of unused shit and give me a full refund I'll be glad to no longer hate them. Reason 2 is the astroturf marketing people on twitter. I just can't stand seeing someone repeat a lie when everyone even the person clearly knows it is a lie just to make a trap for fools who may overhear it in the background, hoping they don't actually know enough to smell the bullshit(or actually worse, agit-prop for cool-aid drinkers to make them feel warm and fuzzy). It is very frustrating to watch shills pretend to be organic. How do you not know these things though, that is what is confusing me right now? Everyone in the industry already knows this shit...

Nothing wrong with that.

It's pretty expensive to own all 3 consoles, you know?

Sometimes a choice has to be made.

I mean, you can own 1 console without being a fanboy of the entire eco-system.

It was funny in the early days of the internet and when it was the old school Halo/CoD lobbies, but now it's just sad. Lol

Bro, think of it this way- u defending xbox series mentioning u played over 10yo AK game, now show me similar to that game that is series x exclusive, aka reason to buy the console.
Not about buying the console, but rather the ongoing dislike, which drags along the actual gaming hardware that plays the games more beyond the exclusives. I think the dislike is so heavy that the hardware suffers for no reason

It's a lesser piece of hardware with fewer games, running on the worst UI I've ever seen. Everything in that ecosystem is breaking its neck to nickel and dime you further, and nothing seems to be getting better for users actually playing on Xbox. And now all of the exclusives are gone, with those titles going to other platforms and running better.

But the bigger issue is that Xbox used to be so much better than that. They had an actual positive trajectory, they were trying new things with their platform ranging from ideas like achievements to an honest-to-God initiative to spotlight indies, and there were still good games that were exclusive to the platform that gave the systems some semblance of personality. They've run absolutely everything they could into the ground. If you've been into gaming for a while and used their systems, how is one not going to dislike them after that?
I really like UI on X

The controller is nice, I guess

To everything else, I ask you: what is there to like?

Pretty much all of its games are also playable on Playstation.

PS5 is cheaper than the Series X

Game Pass is all they have going for it, but if you already have a capable PC, why buy the console?

Lots of factors, political, commercial, operational, just loads of shit backed by loads of people from all directions are against Microsoft and by extension Xbox right now.

They personally pissed me off by raising GPU prices, enough to quit the system. You're better off not getting too defensive about Xbox on any English speaking platform right now though, unless you're willing to catch heat.
Did you quit because you were using GPU? Or simply left

Xbox consoles are barely a part of the conversation anymore so there isn't anything good or bad being said about the hardware itself. The problem with Xbox consoles is much worse than negativity. It is irrelevance. That's Microsoft's doing.

None of us would be Nintendo fans without Link to the Past or Metroid Prime. None of us would be PlayStation fans without Bloodborne or The Last of Us.

The games that MSFT has been delivering haven't been culturally relevant in 15 years. They are not a creative company and don't really "get it" in terms of making great games. Never have.
The only time I was a Nintendo fan was before any of that stuff. It was when Wild Gunman and Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda made their debut redefining what a game could be. I did not even like A Link to the Past much and found it horribly paced and Link's sprite clownish. I am still puzzled by how games as generic as Metroid Prime and Halo have rabid fanbases.

I was never fully a PlayStation fan as it was almost always third party titles that captivated my interest. That changed slightly during the PS3 era as Sony had some real fun titles commissioned out of which I found Last of Us particularly handholdy and dull. I stopped buying games on their systems after beating Second Son (when Last of Us Remastered showed up). I only pulled the system back out for Marvel's Spider-Man and gave Bloodborne a whirl out of curiosity. I keep hoping for a PC release of Bloodborne to mod out FromSoft baggage (stamina system, locked 30 FPS, chromatic aberration, awful anti-aliasing, and delayed responsiveness) and make it a full-on action game. If anything, it being stuck on PS4 is a tragedy. At least Days Gone was freed from that prison and made available on PC with benefits of patches and higher fidelity.

The hardware is great, it's pretty much always superior versions, no issue with it

The issue is how Microsoft manage to always make sure we hate their products with all the communication around it

No one dislikes the Xbox consoles. Well, maybe the series S... but definitely not the X.
I dislike the damn thing.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say that I think XSX gets a free pass.

Having owned one myself I have a few qualms

First, I dislike the controller layout and feel the QC on the base controller is lacking, but I admit this is something only I would notice and normies and even hardcore players would not notice these things like how sometimes I can still see the dye marks on the shoulder buttons and have had one One X year controller I had to shave down for clearance.(I have my own problems with dual sense)

The thing hasn't been played much but has frozen on me when I did play, specifically Halo Infinite. Specifically early on during the intro when the explosion happens that blows you out into space. The game froze during that intro sequence.

This is a nitpick but my PS5 and I assume PS5 Pro had vacuum holes to get the dust out and for the XSX I have to blow into the device to dedust. I have the device vertically and it is just a dust magnet since the top is open.

It's like if I collected things, my collection case would not have a open top with holes because dust would get all over everything. So why does my Xbox hardware have no top and holes in the top. If you say "well the fan should always be running" bullshit. They patched in the bullshit super low power mode and I can't even feel it then but also when the console is completely off, it needs to be covered or it is collecting dust internally.

Now let me talk about the lack of ability to save scum. On Sony or Nintendo consoles you can manually upload your game, fail, redownload, and save scum. In The Quarry there is a late game decision that changes the ending tremendously. Without save scumming you would need to replay the entire game but with save scumming you only need to redo the last 3 chapters. What is this world that MS says I can't save scum in it? Honestly, it is crazy disallowing this. That is a HUGE disadvantage when I can't save scum on my games because MS I guess thinks its cheating. Sony and Nintendo 100% allow this with cloud saves. Steam allows it. Xbox console does not that I can find.

On Xbox Series X your game auto-uploads when you close it out(you hope) so if you are going to your bros house to play, better pray it uploaded since manual isn't possible. Also because of this your console save state is always the same as your cloud save state. So NO, I repeat, NO save scumming on Xbox Series consoles unless someone has figured out some new shit since when I played on it.

In fact, if anyone here knows a way to save scum for Hades on XSX please post it here, because until I test it out I do not believe it is easily possible. It may have been made possible since I tried or I fucked it up, I do not want to spread misinformation....but this hurt me bad when I could not figure out how to do it. It should be important to everyone.....but I cannot find a way to do this on XSX.

I don't think many people own the XSX.

I don't think many people who talk about it like they know it, own it. They assume it is good hardware, but how many actually have been sold. Do people really not have these same revelations as me when they play on it?

I think they just want to shit on XSX and it is impossible to do that to the hardware without owning it. It is easy to do on the corpo side, but if one does buy an XSX there are things to hate here as well, they just aren't publicized because of its unpopularity. How many REALLY have had a full several years with XSX as their main gaming platform to determine if it is missing features?

Edited to add: I was just reading on the save scum thing and it is convoluted as fuck but I think it is possible in some scenarios. I will change my criticism that it isn't straightforward or as feature rich in save scumming as the other consoles, but should be possible especially in games that may have manual save uploads. It's just not the same. MS should revamp the way online save data and local save data is managed imho and it would improve their next console.

Thanks for your post it reminded me to continue Tales of Arise, want to finally continue playing it
Are you sure it won't be on Xbox after some time?
I dont know it up in the air but big reason Falcom chose not to release it on Xbox because to them its not worth it, most their audience are on PC, PS5 and Switch 2.

If I have PS5 what reason do I have to get a Xbox?.....Switch might not get all big 3rd party mutiplatform games but they have enough exclusives that I dont want to miss out which makes it worth owning that system.

Xbox in other hand has no exclusive that appeals to me that I'm willing to pay for the system.

It's a nice feature, but not enough lol. The SSDs make up for it.

Not to mention, more often than not it introduces bugs. Even in games that are designed to use it. In Borderlands 4, for example, every time I've had the guns not showing in my inventory issue is because I launched the game through Quick Resume. I have never had that issue when I force close the game and then relaunch it later. I've reached a point where I've run across so many bugs or crashes from Quick Resume that I simply never use it. I'd rather take the few extra seconds to reload the entire game.

Though talking about SSDs did make me consider one thing Microsoft did this generation that was boneheaded from the start: Proprietary expandable storage. Absolutely asinine. Made it cost more and literally no one I know who has one uses the "hot swappable" function of it.

The consoles themselves are OK (except the xbone, it was bad... but it could still have succeeded if MS knew how to handle consoles).

OG xbox: it probably jumped in too late to catch up to the PS2, still, its library is amazing and full of under rated games, or best version of a given game for its generation
360: let's not talk about the RRoD episode, it had a great indie scene, tons of exclusives\timed exclusives, many "better" versions of this generation's games. However the second half of the gen was mis-handled and a preview of what was to come.
xbone: bad launch, a few corrections, then years of distractions and focus on the wrong things (branding, business models, studio purchases... without vision), no stand out titles
series: by that time MS had given up on their platform

What's save scumming?

You save the game before making a major decision/choice and then go back to that save if you don't like the outcome, or want to see the outcome of the different choices before deciding how you want to move forward.
