No one dislikes the Xbox consoles. Well, maybe the series S... but definitely not the X.
I dislike the damn thing.
In fact, I'd go as far as to say that I think XSX gets a free pass.
Having owned one myself I have a few qualms
First, I dislike the controller layout and feel the QC on the base controller is lacking, but I admit this is something only I would notice and normies and even hardcore players would not notice these things like how sometimes I can still see the dye marks on the shoulder buttons and have had one One X year controller I had to shave down for clearance.(I have my own problems with dual sense)
The thing hasn't been played much but has frozen on me when I did play, specifically Halo Infinite. Specifically early on during the intro when the explosion happens that blows you out into space. The game froze during that intro sequence.
This is a nitpick but my PS5 and I assume PS5 Pro had vacuum holes to get the dust out and for the XSX I have to blow into the device to dedust. I have the device vertically and it is just a dust magnet since the top is open.
It's like if I collected things, my collection case would not have a open top with holes because dust would get all over everything. So why does my Xbox hardware have no top and holes in the top. If you say "well the fan should always be running" bullshit. They patched in the bullshit super low power mode and I can't even feel it then but also when the console is completely off, it needs to be covered or it is collecting dust internally.
Now let me talk about the lack of ability to save scum. On Sony or Nintendo consoles you can manually upload your game, fail, redownload, and save scum. In The Quarry there is a late game decision that changes the ending tremendously. Without save scumming you would need to replay the entire game but with save scumming you only need to redo the last 3 chapters. What is this world that MS says I can't save scum in it? Honestly, it is crazy disallowing this. That is a HUGE disadvantage when I can't save scum on my games because MS I guess thinks its cheating. Sony and Nintendo 100% allow this with cloud saves. Steam allows it. Xbox console does not that I can find.
On Xbox Series X your game auto-uploads when you close it out(you hope) so if you are going to your bros house to play, better pray it uploaded since manual isn't possible. Also because of this your console save state is always the same as your cloud save state. So NO, I repeat, NO save scumming on Xbox Series consoles unless someone has figured out some new shit since when I played on it.
In fact, if anyone here knows a way to save scum for Hades on XSX please post it here, because until I test it out I do not believe it is easily possible. It may have been made possible since I tried or I fucked it up, I do not want to spread misinformation....but this hurt me bad when I could not figure out how to do it. It should be important to everyone.....but I cannot find a way to do this on XSX.
I don't think many people own the XSX.
I don't think many people who talk about it like they know it, own it. They assume it is good hardware, but how many actually have been sold. Do people really not have these same revelations as me when they play on it?
I think they just want to shit on XSX and it is impossible to do that to the hardware without owning it. It is easy to do on the corpo side, but if one does buy an XSX there are things to hate here as well, they just aren't publicized because of its unpopularity. How many REALLY have had a full several years with XSX as their main gaming platform to determine if it is missing features?
Edited to add: I was just reading on the save scum thing and it is convoluted as fuck but I think it is possible in some scenarios. I will change my criticism that it isn't straightforward or as feature rich in save scumming as the other consoles, but should be possible especially in games that may have manual save uploads. It's just not the same. MS should revamp the way online save data and local save data is managed imho and it would improve their next console.
