The Razer BlackWidow Ultimate was delivered to me less than 2 hours after ordering it online.

First impressions: typing is great, very responsive compared to non-mechanical keyboards. Nowhere near as loud clicking noises as I had feared, in fact I am not bothered at all.

How the fuck?
How can you get it so fast? :O

I've tried my friends BlackWidow and i was definitely impressed. I will pick up a mechanical keyboard at some point down the line.

Some games still rely on CPU power (i.e. Bad Company 2, Starcraft 2). Having a mediocre CPU can hold back your fps count.

Obviously, but the jump in FPS thanks to a GPU upgrade (8800GT->560/6950) would be much more significant than a CPU upgrade (E8400 -> I5 2500K).

Hey guys. So it looks like my uncle liked the idea of having NCIXUS build the rig for me and I have the go ahead to place the order for my rig. Anyone care to look it over for me to make sure I didn't forget anything or do something stupid? I think I may need to get a network card for wireless still so I'm open to recommendations.

would rather choose Silverstone FT02 or RV02E or Lian Li PC8FIB or Lian Li V1020.

Silverstone = better air cooling
Lian Li = classy looks

If a guy is looking at $90 cases, you don't recommend a $250 case.

As for my suggestion: whichever you like better. The 922 cools a bit better and is easier to work with, but the 690 II Advanced looks better (especially the black internals).

The company I ordered it from is local and they have a deal with the parcel service to do same-day-delivery if you order before a certain hour. So if the item is in stock delivery can be extremely fast.

Getting really really anxious about building my computer, but I know I'd rather hold off until closer to Battlefield 3 and Skyrim to get the biggest, baddest stuff at that time.

What's down the pipeline? Prices aside, is there a really compelling piece of hardware launching later this year that I should hold off for? I'm looking to spend around $2k or so trying to build a more than capable rig.

Ok, I have "semi" revamped by build from the last time I posted:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition

MoBo: ASUS M4A87TD AM3 Socket AMD 870

RAM: Kingston DDR 1333 2GB x2

HD: WD Caviar Blue 500GB 7200RPM

GPU: Zotac GTX460 1GB SE Destroyer

Case: CoolMaster RC-430-KWN1 430

Media Lite On 18X DVD Drive

However, I still need a bloody PSU. I seriously have no idea how to determine the correct PSU. Much would be appreciated if the PSU isn't extremely overpriced. Gaf, please help. On another note, how fluid or compatible the parts are with the components I have chosen.

Thanks :D

New intel procs, new Amd procs, new nvidia and amd gpu's near the end of the year soooo...you can wait or build now, does not matter really.

I'm building a low-powered desktop to supplement the gaming machine I plan on building. It's going to be used for web browsing, listening to music, word processing, etc.

Here's what I'm thinking right now:

$49.99 CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 245
$63.00 Mobo: Asrock 880gm-le
$39.99 RAM:G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB
$40.00 PSU:Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D
$80.00 HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 2 TB

I have a case lying around. Is there a cooler out there that will work with this that will sufficiently cool the CPU without the need for multiple fans within the case and without much noise?

New Intel/AMD processors, and maybe new GPUs. Nothing is confirmed at this point, though. I wouldn't be surprised if GPUs were further delayed into 2012.

Get a 550 or 560 card really, price dont differ that much....rest looks ok, for the PSU, most brands are ok, if you get a 400 to 600 watt you have more then enough (you dont want to go to low because you will harm yourself if you want to upgrade something in the future)
These PSU's are good pick one that suits your budget -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...007657 50001333&IsNodeId=1&name=Cooler Master

Also if you are in the U.S newegg has a lot of combo deals with cases, might be worth checking out - > http://www.newegg.com/Store/ComboDeals.aspx?ComboStoreID=5&name=Power-Supplies-Cases

Also, avoid Zotac. They're cheaper than everyone else for a reason.

Asus/MSI (with DirectCu or TwinFrozr cooling) would be my favorites, followed by EVGA and Gigabyte.

Actually...if going with a lower airflow case like that Cooler Master, I'd probably go with a stock EVGA card. The better cooling cards dump a lot of hot air into the case, so they're reliant on having good airflow.

Ah, I will definitely check out the 550 and 560 GPUs. So, as long as the PSU is in between 400 to 600 watt it will be enough? I mean are there other "components" I should look into because I am trying to minimize the cost of the PSU. I'm currently located in China for a few months and will be purchasing most goods from newegg.com.cn.

The 560 Ti is a lot faster than the 550. A 500w PSU is just fine.

Ah, I see. I know I sound like a complete "noob," but I really want to make sure because this is my first build. The 500w PSU does not have to be crossfire or SLI enabled, or anything complex?

Yeah the CX430 will be a good choice, see the upper post. Also you dont need stuff like crossfire or sli enabled.

Nice. I have a Black Widow as well (not the Ultimate). My first mechanical keyboard and I love it. The keyboard itself is very solid and packed with features, and I love the clicking noise :p. When you get on a roll typing something feels really good.

Maybe we'll see nvidia/amd refreshes on the graphics card front, but I don't think Ivy Bridge is scheduled to release until next year (AMD's new CPU line Bulldozer is due in a few months) If you're gonna build a new comp I'd say right now is a very good time to get in.

There's an issue here. You have a 1156 board i believe for an 1155 CPU, you need a P67 chip board, not P55. Something like Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4-B3 or Asus P6P67 PRO

Think my VC died.

Went to restart my PC and no screen appeared after the restart, I tried it a handful of times, but got nothing. I'm using a 27" Apple Monitor witht the adapter, so I thought it might of been that, but I tried my regular 22" monitor to check, and it said "No signal detected" also it's been having problems, the drivers have been recovering from time to time and stuff. I might need to RMA it. It's a GTX 580SC only 5 months old too.

Microcenter is currently selling the i5 2500k for $179.99. Decent memorial day savings. I was going to hold off, but I think I'll just jump in to save $40. Still looking at motherboards, any suggestions? The one in the OP is sold out at newegg, and I'd like to get one closer to $100 than $200.

Get one that uses a P67 chipset and doesn't have a terrible VDROP.

A popular one is the ASUS P8P67 Standard/Pro/Evo/Deluxe. Do not purchase the ASUS P8P67 LE as it's not a good overclocker for the i5 2500K. There are Gigabyte, MSI, ASRock, and Biostar alternatives as well. Be sure it's B3 or Revision 3.0 as the previous motherboard versions had problems for the P67 chipset.

Better than a 580? Link?

From what I can tell they are comparable but not overall better in performance. The performance per dollar blows it out of the park of course.

Main Anandtech bench site is down atm. This will do for now.

Not better in performance but the performance to price ratio is waaaaaaaaaaaay better.

460s aren't the hottest cards on the market. Two of them shouldn't be a problem as long as the case has adequate ventilation.

And why go for GTX 560 Ti, I'm barely going to play games. Like I said before, a GTX 260 is fine at work I'm guessing it would be fine for what I need it too. I might even go for that. No problem for me, I don't need the latest card. I can upgrade when it becomes a necessity.

If all you do is mainly gaming, I'd go with a 2500k as well. With that money saved, you could use it on a better gfx card.

Unless you plan on doing crazy video editing, the 2600k's hyperthreading won't do you any good in games.
