It's just going to make me look like an idiot, but okay.
My old monitor was starting to dim noticeably. I'd had it for about six years, so I was ready for an upgrade. I did the research and decided I wanted an IPS panel. Like with all other hardware, I ran the filters on PPP to get an idea what my options were to begin narrowing things down. I am CERTAIN the IPS option was ticked every time I did this. I'm thrifty (cheap) and only wanted to target 1080, so I settled on the Asus VS248H-P. You should be laughing now, because this is not an IPS panel. I never really noticed, I suppose, because my old monitor had faded more than I realized. The colors and brightness are a huge improvement over my old display. The viewing angle is good too. In my ignorance, I assumed everything was as I believed it to be.
So today, I got some new hardware and I decided to update the build profile I keep for my pc on PPP. I hadn't put the monitor on yet either, so I run the filters to speed up the search and couldn't find it. I thought it was strange, but then I found out that I was living a lie. It wasn't showing up because I was selecting IPS in the filters. Some more I investigation and Amazon also doesn't say it is IPS (anymore?), but does still put up the IPS glow warning. I'm not sure how I misread something so many times in so many places, but I made a huge mistake.
