So, even though most of my games are located on my D drive, Steam is still on my C (my SSD), and so a few save files and such still go there.

My SSD drive is running out of room fast. I'm wondering if moving Steam will also cause those tetriary game files to move?

You can right click your documents folder and select properties. There will be a tab that lets you select a new location. Select your D drive. It will still show up as it always has, the data will just be on the D: drive instead of C. (assuming your save files are in your default documents folder) You can do the same for your video, photo, download, and music folders. This will free up a lot of space depending on how much you have in them. Also, you may be able to free up space by cleaning out you download folder if you haven't lately.

Are there any 120-144 hz 1080p monitor screens with G-Sync available in EU without breaking the bank ?

G-sync is optional but would be a giant + .

So should I get some good IPS 27" 1440p panel (that hopefully has scaler and use it for all my needs until I can get a good and cheaper 120/144hz secondary screen which I'll use mostly for my PC games, or when I do enough research about Korean monitors order one just for PC while I keep other one for rest? Is this the best course of action? And if so what are some good ones?

P.S. Want to use it for games, multimedia, consoles.

Lots of people like the PB287Q.
I configured this, after next crash there was no dump file. The crash isn't registered in Windows, it just thinks someone did a hard shutdown.
Sounds like a hardware issue, probably PSU or Mobo.

Thinking I may just go ahead and pick up my new monitor sooner than I thought since I have the money. Should I go with the BenQ XL2411Z, the ASUS VG248QE, or a different 120/144 Hz monitor? The Eizo is unfortunately out of my price range.

I'm actually curious about this too.

Those 2 use the same panel. I think the BenQ has better strobing (not 100% sure). IMO go with the VG248QE if you're interested in modding it to support G-Sync, otherwise go with the BenQ since it's normally cheaper.

This might seem off topic, but what are your thoughts on the rumoured specs of Witcher 3,and that a 780ti would give only 30-45 fps at 8 MSAA? I know know if it sounds like a stretch. Maybe it's fake.

Nobody evens know what AA method TW3 will be using...Could be SSAA for all we know. Come to think of it, SSAA will probably be there in the form of ubersampling. But it's all just such wild speculation. Nobody knows anything yet. Not even CD Projekt RED, cause they're probably still optimizing.

Ignore the rumours and just wait for release for actual grounded performance results.

Speculation leads to disaster if you're basing consumer purchases on it. If you're just trying to pass the time with guessing for the fun of it, then ZOMG IT CRIPPLES EVERYTHING.

I kid.

Slightly OT, but how does something like Witcher 3 get performance tested? Do they have multiple PC setups with various mixes of hardware? And what kind of hardware do they run it on a day to day basis and what sort of framerate and resolution would they be using?

You mean like the developers? Or the people who test performance after the fact?

Guys, as some of you know, I build my own PC this April thanks to the wonderful help and professional tips from this very community.

I now got Plex running for my whole movie library and is running it on the HDTV, but what do I need if I want to use a remote for it? Can an Apple remote be used?

Should it be somekind of bluetooth dongle or an IR receiver?

How about using your phone with an iOS or android app?

If your board has a CIR port I can help you build an IR receiver which will even turn the PC on from shutdown and offer full Microsoft media key support.
Otherwise go for a USB infra red dongle and media remote (RC6). Will do the same as the CIR, but only put the PC to sleep not full shutdown.

Or could use something like Logitech dinovo mini.

I can use the Plex app on my LG G3 and then stream it to the Chromecast, but others in the house don't know how to do it (as simple as it may be) and we don't have an Apple TV anymore.

So the best thing would be to control it on the TV. :)

I have been thinking about the DiNovo Mini for a long while yeah. But it was just so comfortable to navigate with the Apple remote, that I hoped there were a similar alternative.

I'll look into the USB infra red dongle.

EDIT:
Do I have to point the remote directly at the infra red usb when navigating?

IMO remote is the best way. I use Logitech harmony for my living room equipment and it's very convenient. Also means the whole family can use it without complications.

The IR range works just as your other appliances such as TV, Blu Ray player work. It usually needs line of sight although it reflects too. You may find some IR Receivers work better than others, that's where CIR comes into it's own since it works like a real appliance in terms of range.

I just impulse bought a ...factory refurbished... Corsair H100i on Newegg for $65. I have a 4670k with a 212 Evo. Will I regret my decision?

Small little detail I missed.

No way. Water cooling is awesome :)

I kind of want one just for the cool factor. I wonder if its any more efficient or quieter than the 212 though. Report back!

My 3570K running at 4.1 mhz for the past year on my Sabertooth mobo with a Corsair 860 just failed to post with a warning that my system OC was too much. I've never had one problem in over a year and this happens.

The only change I made to my PC was to move it slightly while it was turned off. I just checked all of the connections and dusted it out. I'm now running it on stock and will run Prime for the next 24 hours to test it out.

What could have caused this? Could a torrented video cause this? My volts were at stock FYI too and I have a corsair 212 and 780GTX TI in SLI. Please advise.

Ok guys, I don't know where else to ask this and I'm pulling my hair out so here goes:

Situition: I'm trying to get my Vita to play nice with my PS4 on my network for remote play. I have a small place and I'm in a very remote area so interference is probably not an issue.

Things I have tried:

-settings a static IP for both PS4 and Vita
-port forwarding the necessary ports for both
-direct connect between Vita/PS4 and internet connect

It's shit connection even when I'm 4 feet away between the devices and I can't figure out why. i started tooling around with more network settings to see if there was something I could clean up and I suddenly realized I know far less about networking than I ever thought so now I have some questions. First, I just realized that BOTH my modem and my router were broadcasting wireless signals but I can't figure out how to shut off wireless on the modem if that's even possible. I also realized that i don't know whether i should be port forwarding on the modem or on the router. On the router the settings for port forwarding seem to be greyed out and I've been doing it on the modem itself all the time.

For reference, I have a wireless Netgear MODEM (DGND 3300) and a Netgear Router (WNDR 4400v2).

I have some basic "I'm dumber than I thought about networking" questions that I'd appreciate any answers to that could help me out:

1. It seems that my model currently occupies both 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 on my network. Is this normal? Maybe this became a thing in recent years but it seems weird to me.

2. My router meanwhile is apparently 192.168.0.2. Is this how I should have it set up?

3. Which device should be handling my port forwarding? If the modem, does it matter whether I forward to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 since both seem valid? Should I be setting the Primary DNS to my router address instead of the modem?

4. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn off the wireless signal from the modem's internal wireless in the settings as far as I can tell. Am I missing something?

5. I'm assuming I actually WANT to use the router's wireless because I believe it's a newer/better model but I could be mistaken.

6. Would I be better off just getting some new hardware altogether? Is there some good all-in-one solution perhaps? Are my router and modem potentially the problem? I don't think they are that old tech wise but I could be wrong.

Depends if your case can spare the double 120mm exhaust without hurting overall airflow.

Fractal Design R4 w/ lower bay removed. CPU temps are the only ones that have alarmed me. I plan on getting a GTX980 when it is released (if it is below $500) and replacing my GTX770.

Damn, video cards are getting huge. The R9 280X I bought doesn't even fit in my case. :/

And I thought my HD4870 and GTX 660 were big. Not sure what I should do. I could RMA and get something else but that's working under the assumption that I'll find a card better than my recently deceased GTX 660 that's the same size or smaller.

Oh man, how is this case? As someone who lives the in desert where the ambient temps get to 90F when i dont turn on the AC, a case with this much room sounds great

Hi all in the "I need a pc!" thread. Thanks to the extremely well done op I was able to get some decent information for my first build.

I had originally tried to register on Gaf to post on this thread for some answers and advice but the time frame for that was a lot longer then I expected. I ended up purchasing and building just from googling and now I am a (mostly) satisfied owner of a pretty decent gaming rig. Not to say there wasn't mistakes. Thanks to the posters on this thread for the information and resources.

Also first post hype!

Are you talking about the replacement plans? All you do is bring it in if it's defective and they refund your money with store credit. You can get the same product or buy something else.

http://www.microcenter.com/site/customer-support/protection-plans/replacement_protection_plans.aspx

Yeah, I have an unfortunate history of killing motherboards and I'm willing to pay for the ability to walk in with my dead motherboard and exchange it without questions for a new replacement or credit.

Let's hope it is just a one-off and not indicative of larger problems. I haven't had any issues with my X99 Deluxe so far personally.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm almost done selecting components, except for RAM - can't decide if it's better to get 16 GB in 4 GB sticks or 16 GB in 8 GB sticks. I want to upgrade to 32 GB of RAM eventually when prices drop.

I am at 4.3 now. Anything higher produces very high temps and occasional BSODs. I would like to get to 4.5 and keep things below 65c. ????
I went from a TPC812 to an X60 (even more cool in than H100) and got .1 GHz more 24/7 after a LOT of tweaking.

It looks nicer though

Link to the imgur album I just created. The actual rig is nothing to look at it being that the case is a generic 200r but it games.
Here is the pcpartpicker list for my setup along with the inaccurate prices from the site. I also have a Msi R9 280x and XFX 550w psu that I purchased brand new that I am not using so that was kind of a waste of money.

It's missing the case (Cooler Master ATCS840), the PSU (Seasonic M12-600W) and the soundcard (Auzentech X-Fi Prelude) which doesn't work...

The PSU is enough for the entire rig but I'm not too sure if I begin to overclock the CPU/GPU.

What a change from my past computer (S939 : X2-4800+ / 8800GT Sli...), here are some pictures for you Gaf, thanks. :)
