Hell, if you're just web browsing, etc, maybe a cheap Kabini build?

Something like this? Or buy used for more performance/$. It won't be a gaming rig, but if all you're doing is browsing/watching videos/etc, you should be fine. A plus is that you get building experience so you're more comfortable when you decide to build a gaming rig.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/yZZ7Mp

That looks interesting though more expensive in Europe for some reason. Could I fit an AMD A4 in a small case like that?

Looks like the 700 series is on for sale to clear stock. You can get a Zotac GTX 780 with a copy of the new Borderlands, 5 year warranty and a triple fan cooler for £224. I'd still recommend the 970 over it if for nothing other than the extra 1GB of memory but if your budget doesn't stretch that far it's a great option to have:

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-...es-2304-dvi-d-dvi-i-hdmi-disp?ProductId=95983

Overclockers have a 770 up for £180 as well and while I'm not a fan of the 2GB GDDR5 on them there's no denying that it's a lot of performance for the money.

So, right now I'm at:

Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz
Gigabyte GeForce GTX760 Windforce 2GB DDR5
Corsair TX650M 650W Reais ATX/EPS
2x Corsair 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
HD Seagate SATA III Barracuda 7200 1TB
Kingston SSD 2.5´ 60 GB V300 SATA III
Corsair WaterCooler Hydro Series - High Performance H60

Does it all fit in a CoolerMaster Stacker 915R? Or is the Silverstone RVZ01 better? It's really hard to find the RVZ01 around here...
And I also need a Motherboard recommendation. Anyone?

Yep.

You want an ITX form factor FM2+ socket motherboard.

You need to stick to the PSU choices in the build sheet. They're specific sizes to fit in the specific cases. RVZ01 only takes SFX form factor PSUs, for example.

Where are you looking for the RVZ01? The ML07 is the same case as well, with a different aesthetic.

I'm in Brazil, and I could import it. But I think I'll need to get a different case, a bit bigger. Probably the Haf Stacker 915r or 915f. Do you know any other not-so-big Cases that I can look for?

And about the motherboard, isn't there a substitute for the GA-Z97N-Wifi ?

If you want something similar to an ML07/RVZ01, check out the Silverstone GD04-GD10 series.

They are from tinitiny - pretty huge, but all in HTPC-optic.

Best tool for checking HDD health? After that transfer this HDD's been humming loudly whenever it first starts up.

Better put an HDD on my Black Friday shopping list anyway.

Is the 5930K a worthy jump from my 960 to justify the buy? My mobo is going and I don't really want to buy another LGA1366 board this late in the game if I don't have to, but if the CPU world is still as slow as it has seemingly been I will if there's nothing to justify the 5-700 bones for a haswell e i7 + a mobo.

Help GAF!! I'm in the pits of dispair.
I finished my build last night, posted just fine. In windows 7 now and it's working great. But, there is one issue that is pretty serious. When I shut down my computer, windows closes and then all of the fans in my computer ramp up and stay that way. It stays like that forever. Also my DVD drive still works. The only way to shut it off is with the power switch on the psu. When I flip the psu switch to turn it back on again, it stays off until I hit the power button on the tower. When I do hit the button the fans turn on but nothing happens with the computer besides the fans. Then if I press the power button a second time it comes to life. I need some help :(

5930K over 5820K if you're planning a 3-way SLI./crossfire setup. Otherwise, the 5820K is where it's at.

And yeah, it's worth the upgrade.

Ok, how's this rig:

Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz
Gigabyte GeForce GTX760 Windforce 2GB DDR5
Gigabyte p/ Intel GA-Z97M-D3H LGA 1150
Corsair TX650M 650W Reais ATX/EPS

HD Seagate SATA III Barracuda 7200 1TB
Kingston SSD 2.5´ 60 GB V300 SATA III
Corsair WaterCooler Hydro Series - High Performance H60
CoolerMaster HAF Stacker 915F

Will it all fit the case without a problem?
Or is this going to explode if I don't change something?

Just an idea, instead of a monitor with three inputs, how about an HDMI switch (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003AQD5W6/?tag=neogaf0e-20) this one is 3 to 1, I am only linking as an example, I am not endorsing this product. Better yet, use a receiver to connect your consoles and PC to one Monitor.

I never knew these existed. What's receiver look like? I'm still in the market for a monitor but perhaps this is a better solution in the mean time

Eh, 3 way is a little extreme, but I'm probably going to sli my 780 once the prices dump due to the 9xx series launch. Will I still be alright with that on the 5820k without bottlenecks?

Aaand it's done.

i7 4790K
Asus Z97-A
16GB
2x Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
Sound Blaster Z
2xSSDs and 2TB HDD
Noctua NH-D15
NZXT H440
Corsair HX750

Everything fits pretty much perfectly and it's very cool (as in low temperature)! Not too sure if the thermal compound is properly applied (as I had some issues with the installation of D15) but I'm gonna wait it out and see how temps are when I'm overclocking.

The H440 is great. Easy installation, good possibilities for cable management, great airflow, quiet. Some nice extra features as well. Thinking of getting a few extra fans though (or just one, not sure). There's currently 3 fans in the front (intake) and 1 in the back (out). 2 CPU-fans, and 6 GPU-fans, 1 PSU fan. Works fine at the moment.

CPU is currently ~33°C @ idle at stock.

D15 is bloody huge.

Both 970s are 35°C idle at a 1523 boost clock, and the performance is simply amazing. Even Dead Rising 3 is playable!

One thing I'm rather curious about - when I disable SLI, the temperature goes up ~10 degrees. What's up with that?

So currently I have this in mind:

Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini ITX Tower Case
MSI AM1I Mini ITX AM1 Motherboard
AMD 5350 2.05Ghz Quad-Core Processor
Crucial 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Corsair Builder 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (CX430)
Samsung SH-224BB DVD/CD Writer (SH-224BB)
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (already have this)

Should be about €250 total. Anything I could improve with only a small price increase?

Don't come out of the gate aiming for something. Just work it up and see what your specific card can achieve.

True, but there's got to be some average of what people are getting to. For the core boost clock, it seems to be between 1500 - 1600. Memory I have no clue what people are getting. Lol

Alright. After 6 months of window shopping and hesitating, I finally ordered my mini itx build.
Some of these parts I already had lying around, but:
Pentium g3258
Corsair h80i ($45 refurb @ Newegg)
MSI|Z87I AC ITX Z87 R
(Free 8gb Kingston hyperx ram)
Rosewill legacy w1-s
Asus nvidia 660
Corsair gs700 PSU

Looking to get a modular PSU somewhere down the road, but I'm just happy to get this thing started.

I was thinking about a 120Gb SSD, but I'll only use it for the OS. But it's not so much of a difference in price, so i'll probably go 120Gb.

But can anyone confirm if this specs will run everything well and will fit the case well?

Ok, I think I decided what I want.
I just need to double check to see if it will work:

Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz
Gigabyte GeForce GTX760 Windforce 2GB DDR5
Gigabyte p/ Intel GA-Z97M-D3H LGA 1150
Corsair TX650M 650W Reais ATX/EPS
2x Memória Corsair 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
HD Seagate SATA III Barracuda 7200 1TB
Kingston SSD 2.5´ 60 GB V300 SATA III
Corsair WaterCooler Hydro Series - High Performance H60

Will this specs fit in a BitFenix Prodigy case? It's small, pretty, and looks like it has good ventilation!

I feel like you should either bump that 760 up to a GTX 970 or wait for the 960 that's coming in a month or two. A 760 is about to be an outdated card.

Did I make a mistake ordering the Bitfenix Shinobi cooling-wise?
It's definitely more quiet-oriented than cooling oriented. Totally fine for a single GPU setup.

I'd go for a physically smaller, higher quality 500-550W modular PSU. It'll make PSU installation a lot easier. But that's totally preference, and not necessary.

I'm thinking about it, but it all depends on when I'm getting it.
But even if the GTX760 isn't that strong of a card, it will run games for a little while without a problem, and when I upgrade I'll be able to use it as PhysX dedicated!
__

And guys, the price difference may seem small where you live.
But here in Brazil, the GTX970 is comign out almost $250 more expensive than the 760. And the 780 is, believe it or not, more expensive than the GTX970!

Is there any downside to getting a full tower? Apart from the obvious (cost, how much space it takes up).

I was thinking more in terms of whether it is harder to manage airflow because there's a greater volume of air or something like that.

(x-post because I got the wrong thread last time.)

I was hoping to do a full rebuild, but my financial situation has changed and so has my budget.

I currently run a 2600k OCed to ~4.5ghz. That is still a very viable gaming chip right?

Thinking about just swapping in a 970 gtx for my current 580gtx buying a 27inch 1440p monitor and hopefully getting at least another year out of the rig. Doable?

I already ordered these parts, but If I switch out my 760 for a 970, what else should I change? Is a 970 overkill for a 1080p/60hz monitor?

Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
ASRock Z97 PRO3 ATX LGA1150
G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866
Asus GeForce GTX 760 2GB DirectCU II
BitFenix Shinobi ATX Mid Tower

Almost exactly what I'm doing.

I have a 2500k OC'd and I'm replacing my 660ti with a 970 first. Then at the beginning of the year I'm getting a 144hz monitor.

There are improvements to be had upgrading the CPU but it's not nearly as significant as the GPU upgrade.

We'll both be very happy with that GPU upgrade.

Anyone know how to scale different monitors at different levels? Just picked up a 3840x2160 monitor and want everything 2x but my other 1920x1080 and 25610x1080 I want to keep at 1x, I can not seem to figure out how to do it independently.

1) You can't run two cards on an ITX motherboard. There is only one expansion slot.
2) You would not want to run a 760 as a dedicated PhysX card. Waste of power, and barely any performance gain. You'd be much better off selling the card used to get what you can for it.
3) An overclocked Haswell i5/i7 and a 970 would use around 300W maybe when taxed in games.

So, I better stick with a 550W instead of wasting money on a 750W?
And is the Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H an ITX Motherboard? I thought it wasn't.

I repeat my question from the previous page(s).

I want to get a new case and I kind of like the Silverstone RVZ01, but I have two questions about it, being a case on the smaller side:
  • Can I use my current PSU - Corsair CX 750 W with it?
  • Does the Gigabyte 780 3gb fit in it?

For some reason I was thinking you were looking at an ITX board given the ITX case, and totally missed that.

That is a micro ATX (mATX) board, and will not fit in the Stacker 915.

1) No, you need a SFX PSU, and Silverstone makes the best ones.
2) Reference or with the triple fan cooler?
