This is an amazing episode:

Schpoilers, to be updated as I watch:

Damn, damn, damn - she's the admiral?
There are going to be power struggles all throughout this episode, nice.

Okay, I would like to know how they managed to escape the Cylon virus considering that their ship looks super advanced. I would not at all be surprised by them being replaced entirely by Cylons, though that would be too obvious.

Though by the sounds of it, they might have defected from the fleet - escaped the battle, letting innocents die in the process.

Nope, she is totally going to interfere with the runnings of the Galactica.
"Minister of education?" Yep, she's going to ruin things.

Oh shit, they also got a Cylon source.

God damn, the admiral sounds stone cold. No way that was a joke.

Hoh ho, CAG vs CAG!

I bet the prisoner is that reporter.

Love Adama's attitude to this all, bow to the Admiral.

I like how all the paper sheets have cut corners, but is there even a reason for it? :p

Yeah, there's totally something shady going on, this will all end badly.

Oh shit, they've cut off the arms of the cylon?
And it's Gaius imaginary friend.

Oh okay, not her arms cut off.

There we go, of course the Admiral was going to divide and conquer. I love her actress, she manages to project power without all the gruff Adama use.

Damn, this new crew consists of a bunch of monsters.

Yeah, that particular scene was quite powerful.

Oh shit, this music is amazing. Adama to invade the Pegasus.

I'm totally expecting the second-in-command of Pegasus to shoot Commander Cain.

I re-watched the Pegasus arc a few weeks ago for the first time in forever and it really is just astounding television all around. You're so lucky Squiddy!

Switch Back 9

a lot of my threads involve me fucking up somehow. Perhaps I'm a moron?
Quit while you're ahead! That show got really fucking stupid by the end.

edit: The first 2 (3 maybe? It's been a while) seasons are pretty godamn awesome though.

Haha, you guys waited 4 months for the conclusion to this episode?
Holy shit, I am in luck.

Season 2, Episode 11 - Ressurection ship part 1

Starting now

Daaaaaaaamn S2 E11 already? Man you are flying through it Squiddy

It's like a drug, I can't stop watching it.

Impressions (updated):

That such a crazy intense face-off, and suddenly - number sixes everywhere. I guess each Cylon model have their own mothership that holds all their copies or something.

Love the two commanders and the president in the same room.

Damn, el presidente talking about killing Commander Cain.
I love how riskier everything has become the moment their fleet joined.

Okay, now I'm starting to wonder how many cylons in disguise there are over at the Pegasus.

Oh here we go, Gaius crazy time!

Looks like Pegasus killed all their civilians because they became a liability. Or some, or most of them.
I knew they were baby killers.

Yep, knew it would be a ship that held clone bodies.

Holy shit, at this double-plotting.

tbh, I prefer the shorter version and its nonlinear editing, (Also the music is awesome and plays my faaaaaavorite version of Passacaglia entitled Violence and Variations!)

claplow24ueh.gif

Also the shorter version's opening syncs perfectly with the opening of S1E11 Kobol's Last Gleaming Pt.1, also musically.

Damn.
Flight of the Phoenix, Pegasus, Resurrection ship part 1 has so far rivaled episode "33" (I'd even go so far and call the latter two better).

Alright, Ressurection Ship part 2 - final episode for the day.

Note the song closing the final scenes. It's the first time you hear one of the best recurring themes in the series.

Final thoughts:
Finally, Gaius cried a little. I loved his little monologue with number six. Damn, he can act.
That was a beautiful space battle - I cannot believe this was a SyFy show
The way Adama/Cain squared off - jesus, that was so tense. I cannot believe no one died.
Apollo's "death" scene was beautiful
The music was beautiful, harrowing even. All over the place, so many good pieces of music.
Gaius got himself his personal Cylon assassin now, looks like the baby prophesy will come true.
That Cain death was satisfying. That is all.
Now kiss.
Still bothered by that that thing in the Pegasus episode.
They did touch upon the subject of rape in a rather careful manner fortunately, which gave it so much more impact as one reeled back in horror. I read that they in the extended episode actually had Helos and Chief interrupt a rape that was going on and I must say I'm glad they did not go with that version. After knowing what they had done to number Six, the death of Cain became incredibly satisfying.

I'm quite surprised that they managed to deal with the topic appropriately, so kudos to the SyFy-channel - it could have absolutely god awful.

God damn, still mad at Commander Cain.
This is such a good show.

Experiencing this vicariously with you is awesome, but I think I'm also due a rewatch. It's been, like, two whole years.

This show is the damn best. ;-;

It is such a good show

;_;

I'll take a little break for now, and do a little bit of classic fan speculation.
It's not massive, hyped show without some fan theories.

I've been thinking about rewatching it for a while now. There's just so many shows on my queue that I haven't even seen yet...

Pegasus was the first episode I watched. Back then when Syfy had that SG-1, Atlantis, BSG block still going I think. I was like "Hey, everything is going on mid season break, may as well take a look at that BSG remake thingy!".

What a mistake that was. Despite barely knowing the characters the whole thing left me in awe and now I had to wait half a year for the next episode.....frak me!

Frak me. I just rewatched the whole series like 6 months ago but now I feel like I need to re-rewatch it after reading this thread. Maybe reading Squiddy's reactions will be enough.

Incredible show in every way.

Yeah, that ending to S1. So good. And the intro to Kobol's Last Gleaming pt1 blew my head when I watched it. The cutting, the shots, the MUSIC. That's the Passacaglia, and it's so goddamned evocative.

To this day, I still recall that montage as the moment I went from "Hey, this show is pretty great" to "Holy Fuck, this is something special!" I adore Passacaglia.

I'm certainly not going to spoil this for people, but I think knowing how this show ends actually helped me avoid disappointment. I really like the ending of BSG beyond the decimation of two characters.

I just finished a rewatch two months ago and I almost want to start it up again. Thanks Squiddy. Not going to get anything done this month either.

Just watched the Mini-Series today. Fantastic stuff. But 33? Mediocre in comparison. What is it that people found so good about that episode?

I haven't seen it since I first watched it a couple years back. Everytime a thread like this pops up, I get the overwhelming urge to watch it again. Got the whole bluray set ready to go!

Also, OP I noticed you're chugging along at a healthy pace in season 2. I haven't read the whole thread, but if you're interested there are webisodes and a movie (Razor) that were broadcast between seasons 2 and 3 I believe, and then another set of webisodes in the middle of season 4.

They're not essential, but they all feature the main characters of the show and shed light on some character motivations and behind the scenes events. They were worth watching for me. There's also a movie that takes place after the whole show is done called "The Plan" which shows things from a different perspective. BUT DON'T READ ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Don't even look up the damn box... if you see the dvd case in a store run away. There are some serious series spoilers right in the description on the case. Ruined some amazing shit for myself as I was wrapping up the show and looking to buy it so I could get right into it when I was done.

I was an extra in season 3. I was unbelievably hung over for the shoot. I totally forgot I had to go that day.

33 is my favorite episode in the first season. It's just unbearably tense, really captures what it's like to be fleeing an unrelenting enemy.

I'm usually quite the sociopath when it comes to TV & films but BSG managed to get to me on a regular basis. About as beautiful & honest of a character study on humanity you're going to see.

33 is an amazing episode because it perfectly captures what makes early BSG so great. Humanity fighting against impossible odds, just barely hanging on. The tension is immense.

Also, I agree with the above poster. Leoben was probably my favorite Cylon.

I think 33 is just so good because you expect something more traditional, something less exciting, after the action packed and suspense filled mini-series, but they just throw even more action, drama, intrigue, and suspense at you.

Pegasus/Resurrection Ship 1/Resurrection Ship 2 is the best multiparter I've ever seen on television.

Exactly my feeling when I saw it the first time. I was like, ok cool they got away. I wonder what adventures lie ahead now that they have escaped the threat...

FUCKIN NOPE!!!

Cylons on their ass every 33 min holy shit WTF this is amazing!

Agreed on all counts. Just great television.

Starbuck-focused episode by the look of it!

God, this is a boring ass cat fight.

Nothing more to say really about that episode, guess it was important for her character but I never was a big fan of her when she's in swagger-mode.

S02, E16 - Sacrifice

:*(

Why the heck would Adama put an engineer in command of a battleship?
Jesus, I get the rationale, distrust etc, but that would come back and bite him in the ass - and it did. It looks like they're slowly starting to mend the distrust between the Pegasus and Galactica. Fortunately, the Pegasus wasn't destroyed.

The whole abortion storyline was interesting, just the kind of morally blacks, whites, and greys that makes me love this show. I liked how they showed that Rosaline really, really abhorred the thought of having to ban it, but it does make you wonder why she was so insistent on giving the Cylon an abortion - but I guess it's tied to the concept of human hood.

Gaius, my man, you're going to become the president at this rate. I love he's finally matured, how he takes Six-in-head conversation in without acting like the neurotic wretch he was in season 1, and how has started to act like the swaggalicious dude he was prior to the fall of Caprica.

That speech he had, declaring his interest in Presidency, was excellent.

I stood up and applauded at the final scene.

So in regards to the Season 2 finale and the following
New Caprica
arc in season 3, can anyone who watched the episode when it first aired confirm if people thought
the whole thing was a dream? Especially the way they edited the transition to "One year later." I went through so many episodes in season 3 expecting it to go back to reality. I was fucking shocked when it didn't. So much that I had to rewatch the whole arc over because the first time through none of the things tgat happened phased me because of my misconception. Craziest turn in mood for a show ever. Up there with the mood change in the Toy Story 3 garbage incinerator scene.

Stop at season 2? Haters are nuts.

Should I?
I thought that was released in-between Season 2 and 3.

It was released between seasons 3 and 4 as a movie but takes place right after Lee has been given command of Pegasus in S2 and doesn't spoil anything beyond what you've seen . It'll probably be a momentum killer after Season's 3 finale. I think you'll get more out of it watching it now.
