The protagonist is not necessary Wu Kong and his weapon surely isn't Wu Kong's staff. Lore aside, the combat seemingly requires you to do counter attack or hit certain part of big enemies to stagger them, which can be good design.

And I've stated countless times the reason I don't like the games is because of the technical aspects, and the combat and its plastic feeling/ complete lack of hit reaction and meatiness to it. I love the lore and the art. LOTF and this game have similar art and creature design but with combat that looks pretty good and impactful. Not to mention fantastic looking technically.

Honestly surprised Sony didn't try and get in on this one. Given they've put a lot of effort into courting the Chinese and Korean markets, this one would have been on their radar before most others.

I skipped around a bit, so these are my opinions after spot-watching.

• Screen tearing. not a big deal in the grand scheme, I'm sure it will be addressed.
• Movement feels a bit floaty.
• Not sure if it's due to the player but the combat moves seem pretty static and the moveset seems very small. Same basic attack combo etc. Could just be what the player is comfortable with though.
• Ambiance and atmosphere is top tier. Lots of little details that add up to making each area feel unique and interesting.
• Looks great at 4K.
• Lots of impact effects (leaves getting blown up, huge dust clouds, water splashes, etc) but the actual moves themselves seem to have zero impact, at least on the larger bosses.

I'm curious to see what kind of upgrade system/customization it has. But yea, looks pretty fun.
