My vote goes for 1 for sure.

It’s my favorite game in the series, because of the story, locations and atmosphere.

Also I think with some mods 2-4 are still enjoyable as they are, but 1 didn’t age so well and it’s hard to go back to it. At least that’s how I felt during my series playthrough last year.

But of course 1 would be also the most challenging game, because it would be needed to expanded the most and since it’s so old would require the most work and time.

Meh, it’s not needed. Have them either make a new silent hill, or if sticking with remasters, the parasite eve trilogy.

If they were gonna do multiple, they should have started with no1, then done 2.

They have cronos coming out; which looks great.

Aside from the above, what I’d really rather like instead of any of it, is them to use their recent learnings, to make observer 2.

Bloober should make an original Silent Hill game, but use team silents cancelled silent hill 5 story and concept that was shitcanned for homecoming. "fear in daylight". From what i've seen they already had a story and it was the darkest ever in the series.
"Imamura: Maybe I'll get in trouble for this, so Konami Japan don't fire me, but we are interested in playing with the idea of 'light'... as in 'daylight' and shadows. Ever since the pre-production of SH2, we wanted to start a SH in a normal environment- daylight, people going about their business, just normality. What happens when you make that normality rot all around you? It is possible to make a normal sunny day really creepy. Just look at films like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre or even one of our favorites, Jacobs Ladder."
"Yamaoka: Unfortunately no, since we plan on using it for a future game. (laughing) It was much more along the lines of the second, where the main character was a damaged human being, summoned to the town for a very specific reason. It was, or should say is, the darkest story we have come up with."

The issue with remaking 3 is that if Heather doesn't look EXACTLY how she looked and SOUND exactly how she sounded it's going to feel really, really off, even as iconic as 2 is there's enough wiggle room, but 3's characters and voices are too iconic.

The environments of 3 would be stunning to see updated, but they have a very serious pickle for it's characters.

So I'd rather see 1 next, it's high frickin time we see Paleville in graphics better than PS1.

I voted for 3 because it seems like that's the second-most well-regarded in the series. And, like 2 OG, I've never played it and would likely only do so with a remake.

As incredible as Silent Hill 2 Remake is, I still don’t know that I’d trust Bloober (or almost anyone) with a wholly new Silent Hill game.

I’d love to see a SH1 remake.

Looks like Bloober won't be tackling another Silent Hill for quite a while.

Cronos: New Dawn in 2025

Below is from an older article. Not sure it's still alive. Unless Cronos is the actual game discussed here.

Possible collab with Skybound (the studio founded by Robet Kirkman, creator of the Walking dead)

Interesting that Cronos seems it must have been in development simultaneously with Silent Hill 2 for it to hit in 2025.

I could remember wrong but didn't the first one have a very barebones story?

The story that was there (cult) was very intriguing. Then there was the short story about the nurse, that was so cool.

Oh and I really want to hear a remaster of the theme song, still sometimes listen to it.

Pretty sure they have two teams, considering that Chronus must also already be a while in production.

I don't want a remake of Silent Hill 4, its charm is the inconsistencies and unintentional errors that make the game laugh and fun.

Speaking of theme songs, Silent Hill 4's song is still one of the best in gaming history

Silent Hill 4 or a new game.

1 & 3 are fine. If they are to be remade, so be it, I'd just prefer to see Bloober's own rendition before they go straight into another remake.

I chose 4 because it's the title that could gain the most within the entire series. It is seriously flawed but there's so much potential.

As Silent Hill 1 is a PS1 game, it makes the most sense to start there IMO. Then 3 because of the connections with 1. 4 would be neat too at some point. But it would be really cool to see them do an original SH game as well at some point.

Still surprised that so many people love 4. It was probably my least favorite game of the first 4 games. I didn’t like that everything felt disconnected and you basically have just independent areas.
I also didn’t like Skyward Sword for the same reason.

Let us not forget that we also have Silent Hill F and Townfall coming, which are wholly original games. Konami must now do a new og 1-4 remaster collection whilst we wait. If Bloober makes an original Silent Hill title, they MUST have Yamaoka and Ito on it with them.

Silent Hill 1 makes the most sense, market-wise. But it'd be very difficult to remake without botching it or unnecessarily expanding it. More difficult than SH2, I think. Of course they have the freedom to do their own thing, but SH1 is famous (or infamous) about how confusing the story is and gets throughout the gameplay and its multiple finale(s) and I am not sure "explaining it" or better fleshing it out would be Bloober's strong suit. Plus, they might be tempted to integrate retcons and additions from the sequels (or hell, the movies) and that could get ugly fast.

I voted Silent Hill 4. It's "safer" to remake and, despite having an interesting premise and an actually good horror story to tell, it could really use a gameplay overhaul to be less boring (a challenge for Bloober, but they may come up with something more playable here) and less of constantly acting *aggressively* against the player.
