Yeah I agree. Why can't we all just let the games we loved live on fondly in our memories? And if we must indulge, emulation is always there.

Instead companies keep regurgitating old games because it's cheaper, safer, and nostalgia is a helluva drug. Kind of blows mind that most people wouldn't rather have a new experience, new story, etc. The poll results are very surprising to me.
Low risk, full pay. (If done well)
And it works both for the hardcore fanbase and the guys that weren't even born yet back in the 90s.

Though for a kinda dead franchise (now coming back from death) as Silent Hill, I kinda understand the expectation of a well done remake/reboot. It's been a long time since the Ps2 games, fanbase had to deal with a lot of average-crappy games since then. Or just deal with rumours about nothing.

Then we have things like Horizon Zero Dawn, Until Dawn or Last of Us Part 1 for Ps5. Pointless as fuck.

People are all over silent hill how about we play the first one? We haven’t seen silent hill on store shelves, it’s always interesting silent hill trailer, they should follow the yakuza format. I don’t trust silent hill.

They should remake SH1 as a ton of people havent played it.

Afterwards, they shouldnt remake any of them and release a new one.

SH3 and SH4 are still great experiences, but not sure if worthy of a remake as of yet.

People said the same about RE4 and the remake was still great. I see no problem with that. Even though characters and story are the same, they are new games.

I'd love for them to make new Silent Hill stories, but I don't trust them with the creative direction (The Medium, ewww)

I think they already said that they have no interest in 1 and 3 and they chose 2 because was more in their style.

Maybe the success of the remake is gonna make them change their mind, money tend to do that to people.

If i have to chose, then sh3, i never played that one.

Making the same game over and over is useless.

I'd prefer they would take risks.

If Konami wants to imitate Capcom sooo bad...how about making remakes AND new numbered entries AND rescueing the classics? No, making a remake is not enough to preserving a classic, it's just another version of the story.

SH4 is narratively kind of a successor to 2. Also the weirdest of the 4 original SH games. So I would love for them to start with that and then maybe SH1 + 3 after that.

But my guess is they'll remake SH1 first and then make an original title.

This is a big problem I see when companies make remakes for "the modern audience" instead of respecting the original game. They beliveve they have the right to take out any "rough edges" in the design because they think it doesn't please modern sensibilites. It's like remaking Taxi Driver or other 70's movies and removing stuff that some might consider offensive today. You just water down the original vision and you practically say that the gaming audience needs to have their medium Disney-fied and infantilize them. I understand there's a difference between remakes and remasters, but I still think you should be as faithful as possible to the original. Otherwise, why not just make a new game instead?
