So I've never played any of the metal gear games before. Picked up the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection which has like 4 of the games, although it wasn't on this flash sale it was on Amazon.com.

Should I buy Metal Gear Rising, I dont think my shipment gets here Tuesday so it would be after the sale ends. And what should I expect from the series as a whole? Are they really that good?

Get it, it's one of the best action games of the past gen.

The MGS series overall are quite good long as you go in with an open mind.

Uhhhh WTF

are Crew Expendable and Last Survivor not part of the Alien Isolation Season Pass? Thats the only DLC i wanted.

Nope. That's why I never picked up the season pass.

Man it sure would have been great if they had mentioned this ANYWHERE in the store pages or content descriptions. Heres me thinking a Season Pass would contain all the DLC, since thats how it should be, unless VERY plainly stated

Yeah they (Sega) really sliced up the content for AI in a terrible way.

What time is it?
Is Jamestown+ any good?

Just purchased today and I've put in about four hours. I think I finished the main mode in around two hours. Seems to have a bunch of content between the expansion levels, difficulty settings, gauntlet and challenge modes.

Damn, H. Neptunia is so cheap... plz GAF, deter me of buying this!

The game is bad. There's not a single redeeming quality about it unless you enjoy fan service. But even then you're better off saving your money and looking it up online. <_<

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
I actually dislike bullet hells. I like shootemup games, but not bullet hell.
I think you'd get a lot of mileage out of Jamestown+. It doesn't get super crazy until the highest difficulties. I know I look at what most people call bullet hells and think it looks utterly insane, but Jamestown+ was fun and a fair challenge in my opinion.

Okay so I have Blazblue Chrono Phantasma on PS4, but am a little lost on the story without playing any other games in the series so far. Will Continuum Shift Extend cover me on the previous two games (I think I read something about it having two story modes), or should I buy Continuum Shift II as well as Continuum Shift Extend?

Continuum Shift Extend has a recap of the story of Calamity Trigger (Blazblue Phase 1) in addition to the Continuum Shift Story (Blazblue Phase 2). It's in-depth enough that you should be able to grasp what's going on overall at least, even if you don't get all the details about all the characters.

Continuum Shift Extend is Continuum Shift II with more content. CSII is redundant at this point.

Play through the Calamity Trigger recap in CSE, the Continuum Shift Extend story and the Chrono Phantasma Extend story and you'll be caught up on everything Blazblue. until Central Fiction (Blazblue Phase 4) releases sometime late next year (probably).

Awesome, thank you very much! It doesn't matter if I completely know everything, I would just like to get a better grasp on the series as a whole. I figured the PSP version would be redundant, but I just wanted to make sure.

If you are talking about the ReBirth games, then they are fun JRPGS :).

Just, keep in mind that ReBirth 1 has very odd difficulty spikes at points and that if you don't enjoy the series sense of humor, you will have a hard time enjoying the games stories :(.

My recommendation is to look up the series on YouTube or something to get an idea if you like it or not. If you like it, then get ReBirth 1 and 2 right away :D! 24 bucks for two long, enjoyable JRPG's is a steal in my book.

Picked up the Borderlands Collection and played up to Sanctuary in BL2. It's just silly how much better BL2 is than Destiny. And both games for less than Destiny's next overpriced and underwhelming DLC.

Feels good to walk away from that game.

BBCP Extend has a recap episode built into the game. You should be OK just going through that if you do not want to play through other games.

all good things
So Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack seems to be broken if anyone was going to buy it. Glad I wasted my $2 on it.

totally agree. i made a thread a month after destiny released comparing the two. It wasn't received well, but I think it would be now.

Borderlands 1 GOTY edition is also on sale for $6 for the ps3. I'm going to play through that one again. It's not as wacky as 2, but it is just as good.

The BBCPE recap is the characters in chibi form talking in front of a chalk board, explaining the story in a really lazy way.

It mainly comes down to time and interest. I'd say the best way is CSE and CPEX, but if 20 hours or so of story content is too much to ask then BBCPE at least presents a way to get caught up even if it very barebones.

I skipped out on RoF last sale after reading that the 360 version has a more stable framerate. it was $10 then - at $5, who cares about framerate? bought.
Hmm, this is one of the reasons I've held back from RoF: I got it on 360, but have kinda wanted to just shift it all to PS3. At this low price I could possibly justify it, but if it's severe enough I think I'd rather just stick with the superior version.

So far Final Horizon has been pretty disappointing for a tower defense game. I'm hoping it'll pick up, but after several hours the levels are still way too short to get any real satisfaction from it. The only challenge so far is trial and error for some of the objectives.

What's the best tower defense game on PS4 at the moment?

When people say "fan service"what does that even mean?

Depends on the context. Sometimes it's lewd stuff, particularly in the context of a heck of a lot of anime-style games. Just occasional images of characters looking suggestive or dressed revealingly, usually skirting the border without going into straight-up perverted territory. See the endless hot springs and beach scenes you get in tons of Japanese media.

Other times, it can mean something that is done as a "service" to the fans by the creators. A nod, a call back, a reference to something that might be inside or outside of the source material, or something created by the fans. There are also fanservice games out there like Marvel vs. Capcom, Project X Zone etc. that are usually pretty shallow (Not MvC, but that's one of the few), but sell decently based on all the different characters and universes showing up.

I'm a fan of the second type, at least.

Is the sale over yet?

I'm on the fence about the Borderlands Handsome collection. I already gave Pitchman & Gearbox my money with the PS3 release of BL2 and the season pass. His latest antics, however, have me sort of boycotting his company. I don't want to support a company whose president can't own up to his mistakes and tries to save face with half-truths and slimy, "used car salesman" tactics.

Ugh, but that price....

how is aqua kitty? seriously. it looks kinda good

Hi, its Defender-like at its core but a range of new things:

You can fire whilst moving backwards, dont have to catch falling kittens etc.
Dual weapon fire (rapid fire weapon is more powerful but requires recharge)
Big Bosses.
1080p. 60Hz (GPU actually renders game at 4k internally then pulls down to 1080)
Powerups (item dropped depends on the dropper enemy depth at time of death - lets you control whats spawned and where on the level).
Easy/Normal modes.
Arcade mode which has a Gradius style upgrade system (differs to main game).
Infinite score attack mode (no kittens to save).
kill chain system to push for highscores.
Optional 2 player local coop (which can be done with 2 dualshocks, OR if you have a Vita, then remoteplay with the Vita as P1 and P2 can play with a dualshock)

Hope that helps, there are some reviews and a trailer over on the game site too:

I want the Gradius Collection, but I only have a Vita. Site has a "PSP" tag but no Vita... I think I know the answer but maybe someone here is more knowledgeable. Is that sucker playable on a Vita or nah?
