Also at 9:45 he mentions the impact of the textures streaming. I've run the game hours on medium texture size for getting path tracing in and I've never seen the texture taking time to load. He says the texture quality can be impacted at a distance, but even at a 800% zoom it's barely noticeable stuff.

yeah I am watching it now. honestly, on HIGH it's fine. I can even run on ultra if I do my little trick to unlock 4fps by dropping shadows to low and back to ultra.. that somehow unlocks it.
If there is a way to use PT, I will probably have to drop textures to medium to use PT

Tried a bunch of different things but it’s always choppy here with path tracing.

Everything max with no RT is like this, in Gizeh, on a 60hz TV so this is locked.

And with max RT path tracing:

😬

At best I could tweak it up to 40fps, which is a stuttery mess without VRR.

I also stumbled into a save damage bug… Unable to load the save. Fun. There was an option in the menu to do a rollback on the saves, tried that, it said it couldn’t be undone, but same problem again… Had to go all the way back to end of Vatican before it worked again.

That doesn't make sense.

Did you change texture pool size to high? When the game kills performances like that, it's always VRAM. Disable frame gen for a minute if you had that enabled.

Frame Generation is completely broken, the framerate bop around like crazy and the input latency makes it feel like xcloud on a bad day. Unplayable.

But without FG, I lowered a bunch of stuff to high and got the fps up to 40fps. I’ll try path tracing on the bigger PC tomorrow with a 4090, worse CPU there (7900x) and lower res (1440p) so we’ll see if the CPU hit the ceiling then.

There is a link I posted with a Frame Gen fix.

I'm enjoying the exploration and dungeons, and the story is great, but the lack of consequence for getting caught kind of breaks the immersion. I've stopped even trying to hide when a guard comes searching.

Every guard is just a source of a new weapon for smashing over the head of the next one, and the civilians don't react at all.

Yep. I also have a 4080 Super and it ran poorly on first boot with Path Tracing, but I realized that Texture Pool was set to max so I turned it down to something more reasonable (High or Ultra, not currently at PC to check) and it's been smooth sailing since.

It’s too bad places like Digital Fuckwads are able to shift people’s thoughts so easily with their breakdowns of visuals.

This is one of the best looking games I’ve seen in ages. And I have a nice television and playing on an S.

I realize it’s all subjective but still. It’s a beautiful fucking game and a massive accomplishment for Machine to make it work this well and look this good on this system.

Indiana Jones is an elite boxer. I've punched my way out many bad spots. Loving the game so far.

I'm starting to get the hang of the combat, but still don't think it is much fun. I've depended a great deal on the fact that Nazis all seem blind and deaf.

What did DF do?

just started this evening and the game is gorgeous, strange it's missing RGB rave lights and fog machines i thought that was the trendy thing for all these next gen games.

I just got to Gizeh after 12 hours

This game so far exceeds all my expectations

Tim And Eric Reaction GIF

Still some stuffs locked on top of that and relics not found, I'll have to come back. Voss has just been introduced and ALL his cutscenes are captivating. His mannerism, his dialogues, already the power games within the ranks. It's brilliant. His facial animations are something else. A lot of gif worth scenes in there from his face reactions.

This fixes it.
That one? There is one saying it doesn’t work in the comments but will try, thanks.
Are you getting smooth framerates with that file? And not too much latency?

in your DS4Windows settings, under RS (right stick), increase the Dead Zone setting until it stops drifting.
in the Right Stick display on the left of my screenshot you see a red circle, adjust it so that if the stick is in a neutral position, the center of the white rectangle doesn't leave the red circle.
Thanks. That did it. Though I’m still not sure how to adjust the white rectangle so it didn’t leave the red circle. I tried moving the analog stick but the settings didn’t change. Still, the first change worked so I’m happy.

Now i just have to get used to the motion sickness. Really not a fan of this head bobbing while walking.
Maybe close DS4windows. Just checked and dualsense works fine on gamepass version and has proper PS button prompts. It didn't detect it immediately, I was using 8bitdo before this, but after pressing the home button a couple of times it was up and running fine.
This worked. But started drifting left instead of right lol

Make everyone miserable autists over the most insignificant shit possible when it comes to playing and enjoying videogames.
Not everyone. I don’t watch there stuff because I generally only play in quality modes of games on the device I want to play on. I don’t let others dictate where/how I play games.

I’m a little bummed that there wasn’t an option in this game to play at 30fps with even better visuals on the Series X. But at the end of the day, I’d rather a dev give no choice to the player and only one mode. But I’m not everyone and can only speak to what I prefer.

Any recommendations for settings playing via gfn? I was getting some bad slow down and dropped below 40FPS in some areas. I removed ray tracing and dropped the res to 1440p and it seems much better now getting 150FPS or higher. What settings are you guys using? You playing with ray tracing on?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I’m just past the opening. How genius was that opening though. Introducing us to the gameplay in a moment we’ve seen on the screen numerous times before. I know I’ve seen Raiders at least 10 times.

They got everything, right down to Molina's weird open-mouth scream, so good.

If you like immersive sim style games, you're gonna enjoy this a lot.

No change.
But tbh I’m okay with going without RT for now, no more fiddling with settings, I just want to play this awesome game 👍

Are you bottlenecking your Vram with the texture streaming setting being too high or have Low Latency on in Nvidia Control Panel? Those two are common problems with this game.

real quick:

How do I unequip the camera? This may sound silly but the only way to unequip it is to pick up an object it seems, or choose the gun in dpad left. So if a fight starts and I have the camera in my hand, I can't defend myself melee unless I grab an item? Weird. I must be missing sth.

Also just had a cutscene where the game chugged to like 15 fps during a big breakable. Really weird performance was pretty great this far

What about energy from this one? Because those are the vibes Im getting.

Which isnt a bad thing to me. Im one of the eight people in the world that really enjoyed it.

Last part of your post made me laugh 🤣. I also enjoyed some of it, so maybe I am the ninth. But it wasn't my top Thief game for sure, or basically Thief for me, it worked for me to look at it as a separate game not drawing comparisons to other entries of the series but constant hands animations for picking things up and gush that drawers it was a bit exhausting at the end.

All we need is a 13th Warrior and the cycle is complete 🤣.

Nope, it's way closer to Deadly Shadows. Level structure and atmosphere here is pure magic (and the main mechanics are equally wonky lol)
Well, I've been playing a bit on my new PC. And here's a couple things I've noticed.

There is a lean mechanics in-game but it only works when you are aiming or throwing something, they should patch it to work with empty hands or when you're holding something- would be useful for peaking around corners.

Had a funny interaction in the game because of it, I was "peaking" around a lil wall of bricks while in crouch with only A and D like 5 times and they guy was like "Was it? Nah" "I'm seeing things" "Must have been the wind" 🤣. Which basically was just walking back and forth from beside the pillar because I couldn't check if the guy turned around or not. Made me laugh.

Also I had like this club and I walked up the ladder, and it just fell on the ground. Like guns in Star Wars Outlaws, is it that hard for Indy to just put it in his satchel or something?

Anyways, these are the things they should patch. Otherwise I always liked my share of im-sims and stealth games and I had surprisingly a bit share of fun. And also nostalgic wonky, since I was sneaking all ninja style, and this crutch just fell right beside my eyes and it made me laugh just like the old days, nothing game breaking. I guess Indy has a big bum 🤣.

And it's a bit annoying I can't turn off the stealth shround in in-game options. Is there a mod for it? I guess they should patch this one out too or maybe it is somewhere and I'm just blind 🤷‍♂️. This one reminds me of Thief remake a bit too much... Otherwise more of Deadly Shadows, I guess.

The waypoint system might be the stupidest I’ve seen before. Walking around holding the book covering a big portion of the screen. What a dumb design choice.

Yeah VRAM was maxed but I tried lowering texture setting and shadow settings as the game says, that was how I got it up to about 40fps from 13 like in the pic. Low Latency setting in NV control panel was set to Ultra, I set that to Off but FG is still… galloping… as someone said.

I friend thought I had some other problem with the PC that show itself in this particular game. Not impossible I guess. I have lots of settings set to focus on making it silent so I guess it could be bad prioritizing on something.

The main PC have trouble keeping a stable framerate as well with 24GB VRAM, lots of movements in Gizeh, in main Vatican plaza as well. But happens higher up obviously, maybe around 50-80 idk. Could be settings related, gsync issues, some framerate cap mismatch etc, haven’t really spent any time trying to sort it out yet.

Finished the game. Mostly stealthed the way through, bashing in heads. Ai is dumb as fuck and easy to exploit but in a good way. And gun fights are just okay but way too punishing and more likely than not end up overwhelmed.

Overall its fun and a great adventure. Loved the globe trotting elements and the puzzles were pretty inventive and true to the movies. The story with Indy, a couple of the MC's and main villian are really well done and wonderfully acted - Troy Baker IS Indy! And man.. the ending and build up to last level sublime. This game actually ended up being one of my top games of the year, unexpectedly. It won't top FFVII Rebirth for me but its so, so close.

Its certainly one of those games that captures the magic of video games, and why I love and enjoy this hobby as much as I do. Gives me total Chronicles or Riddick vibes when I played that (this may be a spiritual successor of sorts), and this brings it back to a circle - pun intended.

Yea for real. ID tech since doom has been finicky with VRAM overbloat but the memory allocation setting will make almost all problems disappear. I have 45-60 fps on a 3080 Ti and 5800x3D ultrawide 1440p, DLSS quality, at high settings and medium memory allocation. I used to have memory allocation to high and it worked for a night, then I came back the other night and performed like 11 fps, so set to medium.

The settings are finicky right now, bugs in the settings, such as defaulting to TAA rather than DLSS when opening the game, etc.

Tweaking a bit you should definitely see good performances.
Yeah I was getting not good path tracing performance and at some point I changed something and now it runs path tracing at a locked 60, like it's really stark. I have a 12GB card which you would think would be plenty but dropping texture caching and hair to medium helped I think. I also don't notice any quality hit to the textures from doing that, so it's not a sacrifice.

Damn....should have turned that on from the beginning

It's pretty helpful lol, otherwise you have to keep bringing up the map over and over again.

Why can't I see any objective markers in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle™?

If your Adventure Difficulty is set to moderate, objective markers will only appear if the Journal is open. This can be adjusted in the Options menu under HUD & GAMEPLAY - > Adventure Experience > Objective Location Markers.

I took down a bunch of guards coming at me with my revolver easily and it looked like that. Just a pile of bad guys. It was just before you get to the area you are in though so no civilians. But yeah, no one reacts to what you are doing when you are out in the open.
