I appreciate the effort by Sony to offer this kind of technology to developers. However, we all know how this will play out: A couple Sony exclusives will make use of it while the majority of developers will just go with fluctuating 30fps stutter fests for their "cinematic" experiences. You can't patch out incompetent, lazy and/or ignorant devs and publishers. It won't find broad adoption if it's not as easy to implement as "flipping a switch", which of course it isn't.
They could integrate it in the SDK and make them use in their games as the Upscaling go to solution.
Problem is that they would need to have a Software Based version for the base PS5 models.
Honestly the whole upscaling situation will only be solved with PS6 at this stage, devs will do whatever they want.
It does suck we don’t have a definitive go to solution mandated by Cerny and company, I’m tired of playing Russian roulette when it comes to third party games on the console platform.
That’s why I’m buying 3rd Party Games on the PC and playing them natively with my 7900XTX at 2160p & 1440p.
