When is Froggle supposed to come out? That game looks awesome, like a cross between tiny wings and flower. Please, any info on this game would be appreciated.

Okay, so I highly recommend Lith. This is a polished puzzle adventure, the effort and time put into this evident from the start, from the atmosphere and menu presentation, to the myriad levels and music, to the visuals. You get the first 28 levels free, the rest unlocked with a $1.99 unlock. It's just great, and the visual diversity is easily one of the best aspects. Here's the level select menu as you scroll through

Can't find it.
Did you maybe misspelled it?

I tested it a while back on an android (friend phone not mine xD) and according to the developers is coming soon, but I have no clue when, will send him a message via facebook. My highest anticipated game with SMB:F without doubt :)

Crossposting from the dedicated topic:

Aksys just posted this on their Facebook page:

Midnight. 9/9 only. ‪#‎999iOS‬ for $0.99. #999 ‪#‎ZeroEscape‬ ‪#‎VLR‬ ‪#‎visualnovel‬

I have no plans to buy another idevice since my ipad mini retina serves me just fine but even I am getting a little excited for tomorrow's reveal.

I can't find this in the App Store. Any direct links?

EDIT

Nevermind. Just saw it's not released in US store yet

Thanks a lot! I'm downloading it right now, looks amazing :)

This looks really nice. Dig the art style. Definately need to check this one out.

That moment when you look at the clock and it's 9PM and you realize you haven't looked at your Tiny Tower since 11PM the night prior.

I'm hoping a new iPad Mini is announced with improved color gamut and saturation.

Would really like to get a Mini, but I'm one of those people who immediately noticed the relatively dull colors and that would bug me too much.

Rhythm of Fighters is offering some free music pack(s?) for those who bought it since it's now gone free. Nice compensation! Also ROF is awesome. <3 SNK

Edit: I think I misread. They're offering five original packs to buy that aren't available to anybody else...? Still $2.99 a piece. I dunno, that's kinda sleazy. Oh SNK...

Another great release tonight: Chronology

https://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/chronology-time-changes-everything/id880110462 (Not in US store yet)

In Chronology, you manipulate the past and the future, in order to fix the present. Play as the Old Inventor and his sidekick The Snail, and take advantage of their special abilities - travel back and forth in time, stop time, manipulate objects and solve puzzles.

Didn't even know this was releasing on IOS. Really enjoyed it on PC, a charming challenging game that's much more than a Braid clone like some might expect. The game has a lot of unique and interesting uses for its time mechanic and seeing the world seamlessly switch from past to present and back never gets old. Not sure how the IOS version will control, but I definitely recommend the game itself

Almost title worthy, that sentiment. Actually pretty much how I view the platform. Endless surprises, never know what the week will bring... in some ways it's kinda nice how instead of finding out 3 years in advance what's releasing to only find out 3 days (though there are exceptions of course, like that advance wars clone everyone is so anticipating). Even big companies frequently will announce a port/game to release it in under a month, sometimes under a week.

Even if this takes inspiration from Braid, sounds like something I'd be all over. Braid itself would be nice to have ported.

I don't think it's out yet in the US store.

Not out in the US yet, but if you have an NZ account, you can download it now:
https://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/lith/id897768601

On a related note, it's super easy and fast to set up foreign accounts and really worth it too. Great to be able to check out soft launched games and free games before they release in the US

Thanks, I thought it was out by the time I posted.

I checked the game. The UI is amazing, but it doesn't really fit together with the rest of the game. AT ALL.
Also, didn't like the gameplay. I thought it might be some sort of Monument Valley, but it's not. :(

So I'm getting a 5C for an affordable plan for a year and a half and will finally be able to retire my iPhone 4, which is really showing it's age.

I'm sure I'm gonna be stuck in this same situation 2 years from now, hearing about this new graphics engine Metal for the A7 chips has me a little extra worried. Should I? Or should I just assume that top end stuff will be unplayable a year from now but still manage to play most stuff fine.

So now my parents want to gift me a new iPhone 6 around the holidays, so I don't get stuck with an old tattered phone for a year and a half.
It just feels like overkill personally and I have a hard time feeling comfortable with such a gift.

So I ask again, will a 5c really be so outdated in the near future? I'm sure they'll push firmware updates to kill it but apparently the 6 won't be such an upgrade?

So yeah, is it worth it to go for a mid tier phone? I've been a little frustrated with my 4 (can't play AA5) but still, I'd rather save 600 bucks in the long run I think, unless you guys think it'll go obsolete really fast.

The new ipads probably will be a separate event in October, I think.

If you're doing a 2yr contract then it would definitely be advisable to go at least for the 5s. Regardless of the gaming capabilities, new software and likely hardware pieces (watch) will likely need the 64bit technology to properly function. In two years the 5s will be "old", so a 5c will likely be defunct for a lot of new games, and you'll be in the same spot you're in now. I would definitely at least go 5s, and after today's announcement, the price will likely drop on it

This ^ ... The 5c is the same as an iPhone 5, so you are already getting a two year old phone, in two more years it will be obsolete (for gaming).

People constantly miss the point of the Mikey games. They aren't made to be challenging platformers. They are all about speed running. Improving and refining your times and challenging your friends. That's the real meat of the games.

Which is great with precision jumping and hooking, not so much with this one.

Agreed, this newest Mikey game just isn't quite as fun as the last two. The speedruns in Mikey Shorts and Hooks felt like they were 100% in my control and that I would be able to knock a few milliseconds off my time by doing something a little better.

This game just feels like its on rails and as long as I don't hit anything I'm going to get the best time I possibly can.

While waiting for the apple keynote, I just got confirmation from Trent Oster that the universal build of Baldur's Gate is in review at Apple right now.

Really curious how it could work on iPhone.

Yeah... Change in vertical speed and direction has no effect on horizontal speed. Definitely the weakest of the trilogy. That said I still enjoy it.

Awesome! Perfect timing. Never played Baldur's Gate but I've heard great things about it

Keep in mind it's Baldur's Gate 2 you've heard great things about (most likely, but BG is still great and you can import your character from BG1 to BG2), and I'd suggest reading this at least for a little bit (it's spoiler free as it mentions). Jumping in cold can make for an unpleasant experience, but BG:EE may have toned it down a little, I just feel bad for people who dismiss the game before they even understand the mechanics behind it. Also keep in mind play time for BG1 can be 40-60 hours, and around 80-100 hours for BG2, so plan accordingly. Icewind Dale is also coming soon-ish and is a much more modest 40 hour (or less) experience.

Is the first game a poor experience or something? Or is like an Assassin's Creed 2 thing, where the sequel is just that much better than the first game?

They're different. Some people don't mind the first game, others find it not fun, others enjoy it a lot. It's low level (like 1-10 or so) and has more empty areas to leisurely explore while BG2 starts mid-level and goes very high level. So BG1 is pretty basic, you start out so weak a single hit can kill you (but generally won't), and you eventually turn in to a capable force towards the end, each level is very meaningful, especially for spell casters (even fighters basically double their HP from lvl 1 to lvl 2).

BG2 you start well off, and it just is more interesting combat and better paced (well except for the intro dungeon after the first time around), with an unbelievable amount of generally interesting side quests and things to do.

Still, BG1 is still worth trying, but if you don't find it fun, just move on to BG2 is the general advice (definitely still give BG2 a shot that is, plenty of people love BG2 and dislike BG1).

So take that as you will. It's a low level D&D computer RPG game full of quirks, but still enjoyable to people playing it for the first time today... though not to everyone. If you're unsure, you could always wait for a sale I suppose, there's probably worse things you've spent $5 or on.

I've recently got into old school isometric RPGs, so this definitely sounds like something I'll enjoy a lot. One hit can kill you? Hey, Demons' Souls made a fan of hard games so I like the challenge

First year in the top tier championship and I won both the driver and constructor championship.

edit:

Some things I noticed during all the seasons:

- The game is not very deep, essentially it all boils down to getting enough money to upgrade your factory, test-track and design facility so that your cars are good enough for the tier you are in.
- Every new season I got 2 new drivers, there always were better drivers available than the ones I had, even if I had the nr 1 and 2 of the previous season.
- Young driver bit is not needed at all, I invested 6 times in it but my young drivers never were even close to the abilities of my experienced drivers, I never promoted a young driver due to this.
- In races it all boiled down to pitstops, most of the AI drivers go in too early meaning you will be able to be in the top spots if you just wait 1-2 laps longer than the rest with a pitstop, the only thing that can cause problems are the random technical failures.

Anyway I did enjoy the game a lot and probably will do it all over again.

I was actually going to post something very similar to this - I agree with all these points. Motorsport Manager makes you think early on that there is a lot of depth but after a season or two it becomes apparent that it's actually a very shallow game. A very well done shallow game, but still - I wish they'd added another layer or two.

The AI is reeeeally dumb in races and easy to exploit. I can end up lapping the third place finishers even though their cars are clearly faster than mine.

And yeah, I wish I hadn't wasted money on the young driver thing.

Bought Lith. I haven't even come CLOSE to finish 80 days. Dammit GAF, my commute is 40 minutes long! I can't handle all the magic!

More_Badass, AUGH!
JUST KIDDING! I've had to buy another $100 iOS giftcard because of you but everything you've posted has been a blast, never stop posting.

Just tried briefly Baldur's Gate on my iPhone 4S.
It works surprisingly good and I have to say the graphics are even nicer on the small screen (I had to crank up the font size of course).....hiding a lot the aging.

Have yet to do a big fight with mages involved, so I have yet to test how feasible it is with those small buttons...but seems ok.
I daresay would be perfect on the iPhone 6 Plus (which I'm not interested in).

Icewind Dale can't come soon enough....I can see myself playing some co op on and off with friends even on the go.
Those gorgeous backgrounds will be glorious too.
