Is From Software the last honest big name in gaming?

- No draconian drm
- No milking of franchises; they pursue a passionate artistic vision and don’t sacrifice it… Ubisoft would already be at Bloodborne 27
- No microtransactions, only ultra high quality DLC expansions
- Long and proven track record of outputting quality work and doing the right thing
- No pandering to anybody or anything… they just focus on making quality games.

I know some people might say CD Projekt Red is not too distant especially with GOG… but even they’ve faltered at times… Cyberpunk was a disaster at launch for example.

I’m not saying everything From Software ever released is a masterpiece, all I’m saying is I think they’re the ideal representation of what gamers want and value most.

Ubisoft and Bloodborne in the same sentence makes me sick. I know what you mean, but it's an impossibility for Ubi to make a game of that quality so we don't need to worry about them driving a great series into the ground. I do agree that From is one of if not the last great dev that hasn't succumbed to BS. I'd say Capcom too but they have paid cheats in RE and Dragon's Dogma. I fear it's only a matter of time before From does the same but I hope I am wrong.

Trust is a strong word for a companies that want your money.
Dan may mean trust in quality based on what he likes.

I agree though, all the developers listed are trusted based on their quality of work, but I'd still trust a developer even if a few flops happened lol I'm ok with the attempt.

Their games have never clicked with me. I have finished Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. They were just okay for me. I think I’m out of touch though. Most of the critical darlings these days bounce right off me. Elden Ring, BG3, last two Zelda games, etc..didn’t particularly love any of them.

Their games are great fun. Wouldn’t call them amazing anymore. Copy/paste gameplay in more or less every single one of them.

Not FromSofts fault, but then there are countless of others replicating that. It’s been done too many times and now it’s boring.

Hope their next game will be completely different and hype me up once more.

Rule number 1.

Any massive rich company isn't your friend.

There is no such thing as "an honest company" or "ceo who just hangs with boys and has a few brewskis".

But they take 50 years to make anything and then ignore the community request for single player DLC and instead double down on their online modes which are a rort
Not to mention how they keep treating their pc community like a red-headed step child.

Also why make new games when you can just keep remastering gta5 for 13 years?

Honestly outside of bugs, i put rockstar on the same level as bethesda (which frankly isnt that high)

In terms of adhering to one's artistic integrity and tasteful aesthetics in AAA? Probably. Every other AAA developer/publisher out there have lost their marbles it seems. Particularly the western American part.

Maybe its been like this for a long while, but its becoming glaringly apparent now.

Makes the same game over and over again. Sells fuck tons but invest 0 on their own technology.

Ubisoft of From? Who am I talking about?

I don't like the Chinese government and I hate communism but to be honest it looks like Tencent is one of the biggest name in gaming right now. Well good thing they don't force and push any agenda and there products are free from twisted agendas.

They defenitly milking frenchise. You mentioned cyberpunk was technical disaster on at launch. True but at least it looks good on strong pc and improved significaly with time, elden looks mediocre and still is kinda technical mess on currentgen consoles.

Helldivers 2 is great and they listen to players' feedback. The persistent universe is ever-evolving with new weapons and orders.

If you watch the videos they release with patches/updates you can hear the devs discussing changes and why they did them (usually because of direct player feedback)

Yes there is an in-game currency you can purchase but you can earn it just by playing. I've unlocked everything and not paid another penny after initial purchase.

The reason I put this out there is that they have managed to be this userbase/player friendly despite almost certainly being put under pressure by Sony to make the game less so.

OK theyre not quite From or Larian, but who is?

just my suggestion, I won't die on this hil.

You can't seriously say they haven't milked their Dark Souls fomula though.....Dark Souls was an iteration of Demon Souls, then we had Dark Souls 2 and 3,Bloodborne is Dark Souls without a block button(it's more than that of course but you get my point) and Elden Ring is open world Dark souls.

Considering CDPR is signaling as hard as they can that everything they make from here forward is going to be cold rainbow slop, I would say yes. From is all we have left.
