Is Nintendo going to keep making GBA games until the next Gameboy is released?

I suspect they'll keep making them as long as they keep selling. Of course, most of their support is being thrown behind the DS, sadly.

i dont see the sad side of things. given developers can still make some great GBA games (gunstar!!). stuff like advance wars and castlevania im very glad to see move away from gba and shift into the DS arena.

There is nothing the GBA can do that DS cannot. It is only a matter of time before Nintendo focuses solely on DS and we get the inevitible Nintendo DS SP/Micro/whatever.

Except use most Game Boy Advance accessories and play Game Boy/Color games.

It's become increasingly clear the GBA is near end of life. Don't expect much after this year.

it really is becoming clearer that the GBA is indeed not a "second pillar". The JPN releases are drying up, and almost all of Nintendo's first party big releases are DS only. The big first party releases for the rest of the year are Yoshi: Topsy Turvy, DK King of Swing, Mario Tennis, and Donkey Kong Country 3. Now compare this to DS which has the following as first party:

Kirby: Canvas Curse
Meteos
Advance Wars
Nintendogs
Trace Memory
Metroid Prime
Mario Kart
Electroplankton
Metroid Prime Pinball
Animal Crossing
Mario & Luigi 2

GBA isn't dead. still has some decent 3rd party games coming out, but yeah, DS has definitely taken over in Nintendo's eyes, and it will only be a little while longer (a couple million more units) until 3rd parties switch gears also.

I think we'll continue to see new Nintendo GBA games for another year or so, but none coming out of NCL directly (they've moved over to DS almost entirely). Looking at the software Nintendo still has in R&D...

What the hell...? Why?

bah. I cannot wait until GBA and all its incarnations, die.

bring on the true next-gen Game Boy. I wanna play SMS and Zelda:TP on the go. portable GAMECUBE :D

I see thrid parties supporting the platform for a good while. It's basically a minimal investment to hit millions of gamers. Why not support it? Nintendo on the other hand has a new platform to sell. I don't think that they're going to be throwing much support ot the GBA for much longer. I mean, even Pokemon is making the jump to the DS. The only reason the GBA is going to be around is to make Nintendo more money. They're showcasing their "innovation" elsewhere.

I'm actually pretty excited about Screw Breaker, it looks fantastic. It's been way too long since Game Freak did something besides Pokemon... I wouldn't mind Pulseman 2 either if they could get the IP back from Sega. :)

Ditto! Pulseman was great and SB is looking to be pretty nice to. It's about time Ninty let the freaks do something else again.

Isn't Gamefreaks a seperate company from Nintndo? At least thats the impression I got when I spoke to Fishie at E3.

I thought otherwise...ah well.

And speaking of fishie, he told me how Sega originally passed on Pokemon. And how Nintendo almost passed too. Imagine if Sega had pokemon on the GG...wow.

I'm so sorry, allow me to comfort you through this emotional trauma you've been through.

Haha..Fishie was actually quite a decent person.

This little studio turned behemoth....... who would've thought. :lol

Scary... they make way more money than many larger publisher with just one franchise.
