Is the New Nintendo 3DS the first console with full network share capability?

So, I got my New Nintendo 3DS XL today. Did a system transfer from my UK console, all went well. Decided to have a look at the new functions on the system menu. microSD Management? That's new. Let's try that.

(FBI SURVELLIANCE VAN is the SSID of my router network, if that wasn't obvious)

.... One of my neighbors have FBI SURVEILLANCE VAN #2 as their WiFi...

Is there a way to get my new 3DS to register on my Android phone (or iPad?!)? Might be a silly question, but I would really like to be able to transfer screenshots over.

The 3DS itself likely won't have an issue but it is looking for a specific protocol from Windows.

We may be able to make some sort of app that does it... but likely only with Android or Windows Phone. Fuck if I know what goes on with iOS apps.

Just search the app stores. Android and iOS both have several apps that can read SMB shares.

I've downloaded a few apps now, but haven't been able to crack this. If anyone else is able to make any progress, let us know!

Has anyone done this though? Because I cannot get it to connect, even pointing to the IP.

Thanks. Yeah, on my MacBook Pro. Dammit. And I thought it was so cool that The Legend of Legacy has a built in screenshot taker.

Don't want to boot into windows, haha. :/

I think its safe to say a mac and mobile solution will be worked out not long after the EU/NA launch. It can't be that hard to do.

I'm not really convinced that it doesn't work on Mac at all. SMB is just extremely finicky. You usually have to mess with a bunch of settings before anything outside of the extremely common scenarios will work.

Got my mm xl! Omg they moved the volume slider to the top screen. Now I will finally stop accidentally changing the volume.

Also I cant believe the 3d effect just works now, you can use gyro aiming and 3d stays clear

Bump again as people are STILL unaware of this feature. I've seen so many threads with people complaining about having to remove the back plate each time to access the SD and being unable to do a transfer without an SD card reader.

....that's why this option is here.

Annoyingly, I can't get this to work. It shows up on both my PC and my Macbook, but neither of them can resolve the IP. That's fine, I can find its IP another way.. but then neither of them will connect to it using the IP. They can ping it, mind.

I don't know what's up and why it's not just working. It should be!

And I'm not really a slouch with this stuff, this is my job through the week. I'm just getting no joy on my home network. :\

Edit: The Mac connects, unlike the PC, but the Mac can't authenticate. (The 3DS itself shows a connection, and plays a noise)

Edit: Uh, and now the PC works. Just bruting around for 15 minutes and.. it worked. I did nothing to make it so it should though.

Also got my n3DS mSD to show up on my iMac, thru turning on File Sharing, disabling my firewall temporally and going to "connect to Server" and entering [smb://3DS-0000/microSD] (enter your own 0000 name there) , but for the life of me I can't get access with the user/pass I created on the n3DS mSD management page.
It says I don't have permission after I enter in my user/pass

So freaking close! T_T

Anyone else want to take a stab at it?

Same story here on the Mac. I can see the network share instantly when I turn on the function on the 3DS, but get this error message when I try to connect using my correct credentials. Baaaah.

So no one has figured out how to get the microSD Management working with Mac OS X yet? I've been trying but no luck so far. I'd really like to be able to manage my data without booting into Windows. =P

I've resorted to using Windows 7 in VMware Fusion. Still a ball ache.
