It All Began With... Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep |OT|

Just finished Terra's story...
Gotta say that I'm a little underwhelmed at the ending(it was like 20 seconds long), but I'm assuming there will be a larger payoff when I beat the others and the epilogue segment.

Also, I totally called it that Terra would become Xehanort's next body! Just looks so much like the Xehanort(and explains perfectly) that we see in the portrait in KH2. What's cool is that Terra being left behind in his armor perfectly sets up the fight between him and Sora in the keyblade graveyard in KH2 Final Mix... though I don't really know the context of that fight anyways, or why Sora goes there in the first place. Anyways this has probably all been discussed in this thread so far but I don't really wanna go back and check spoiler tags since I have Ven and Aqua's stories to beat still.

Yeah, I think they made that plot point a bit too predictable. I mean, they show Terra's eyes change to Xehanort's in the original teaser

Those are the worst.

I tried just running up to them and ignoring other enemies once.

I was completely outnumbered(because all the enemies that spawned had followed me over) but still fared better than just letting those things attack from afar.

Almost as cheap as the rabbits.

Way back when I first saw that I thought it was something else. I didn't know that dark heart=orange/yellow eyes... I just thought Terra was gonna have some kind of beast mode. :lol Also, that teaser made no sense because Terra's eyes turned long before Xehanort entered him. I was expecting that to happen when he submitted to his rage so he would have had yellow eyes while fighting the first Xehanort.

Does it end up explaining where the hell Xehanort goes after you wipe the floor with him? I really don't see why Terra couldn't have done the same Keyblade-heart-transfer thing that Xehanort just did moments ago and re-entered his body. It's like he just gave up when he was done. When you start the final fight it even says "Defeat xehanort and take your body back!"

It's not necessarily the dark heart = orange eyes, its just that Master Xehanort, Ansem:SOD (KH1 main villain), and Xemnas all had the same orange/yellow eyes, so when it showed Terra's eyes turning to orange in the original teaser....well...it kind of gave it away.

As to your question, I dunno, I haven't beaten the final chapter yet.

Terra is still in his own body; Xehanort is just using darkness to overpower his heart(which is why he is still in control). The armor only possesses Terra's hatred for Xehanort and some of his memories.

Just started Ven's story. I like how after
breaking the box a dwarf is hiding in with a giant metal key, his response is "You sure seem nice, I hope we can help." :lol

I'm sorry to ask this again as I'm sure it's been asked a couple times, but I'm on my iPhone and I can't cruise the thread so easily.

What play order should I use for the characters? I think I heard that Terra->Ventus->Aqua is the way to go...but storywise it's not the best.

It's what Nomura said he suggests that people did. Believe he said he designed the game in that order for a certain reasons. Other wise I mean there is really no limit to what order you do. You have to beat them all anyway to get the stuff at the very end.

Only thing that works against those leaf monsters is having the ability that makes you keep casting a spell even if hit (case in point, cure) :lol

Man seriously I'm about to go ape on this game,
fighting Hook on Ventus
and he's just beating the crap out of me. My one biggest complaint with this game is Blocking I swear. It's so slow and never reacts fast enough.

Bayonetta has spoiled me.

My quest to 100% Terra continues. What will happen first: completing the game 100% with all three characters, or winding up in an insane asylum? Stay tuned to find out! Spent a good amount of time today split between the Mirage Arena and the Ice Cream mini-game.:lol

CryptiK said:
Its because its bad..

I don't think it's bad or anything (I've heard plenty of truly terrible voices), but it's definitely a weak voice. Both Terra and Aqua are plagued by having VAs who can fall incredibly flat at times.

Okay, I've been to 2 worlds with Ven and both had me collecting stuff. Please don't tell me the majority of his campaign is fetch quests.
Just in Cinderella and Snow White's world. That's it.

And if you're worried about escort missions too, that's it as well.

Aqua's(Willa) problem is she is over acting.

When
Hook
goes into crazy attack mode go on to the submerged bits on land under the water he can't hit you and the thing in the water does nothing to you.

Best news I heard all day.

I was worried about more fetch and escorts. Why do games do this :(

On another note this is a fairly lengthy game for the PSP.

Just started....quick question...

Is there an easier way to use Potions? Or do I have to go in to the menu and change Command Decks everytime I want to heal? Seems like I'm missing some quick/easy alternative.

Thanks!

Man, Terra's last boss makes me so angry.

I know NOW that you're supposed to block and counter hammer (even when I attempted that, it missed him), he just went from combos to kicking my ass around the arena, I only got the timed block on part of the combo and such. I'm on Critical mode running around with two curagas, sonic blade, and lots of spells. It's just really annoying how 99% of the time, my spells are completely worthless, even though I've been fine with how I've done battles so far. Game just went "hey screw that, you have to do this." bahhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm still shaky on the countering so not sure if I'll be able to handle it well.

I leveled up a lot and created/mastered all of Terra's best attack moves and did fine(though it was still very intense and fun, but much more fair). Be sure you have Once More and Second Chance as well! I didn't end up blocking/countering much if at all. Except for blocking his Dark Volleys I guess.

A really useful skill was 'Renewal Block' it heals you when you block successfully.

I think it was Curaga or Esuna with Block.

I didn't even need Once more or Second Chance for Terra's final boss :D

so finally got the game.

I know Nomura said Terra - ven - aqua is the best order to play but does everyone agree? Or do you guys suggest a different order?

I would also like to know this. Just finished Terra. Most looking forward to Aqua but I should probably do Ven next if I want the best experience, right?

Earlier in the thread people were talking about the recommended best order for the storyline.

Just play Aqua last, the order Nomura said was Terra-Ventus-Aqua, and that's the order you get to see the story unfold in sequence, but you can play Ventus-Terra-Aqua too.

Well I guess Terra - Ventus - Aqua it will be then ^^

Too bad because I was looking forward to know why Ventus looks like Roxas, oh well I guess I can wait a few more days ^^

More correctly (implicitly major spoiler)
Roxas looks like Ventus, not the other way around. I'm not trying to be snarky, it's just easier to understand that way.

I did Ven, Terra then Aqua. It seem like it flowed very well. I think it made Terra more interesting because of wanting to know where he is when playing as Ventus.

This game has got excited for KH series all over again. Makes me want to get all the games but, then i remember how crap the DS game was *shudder*. I would love to get the Final Mix versions in a PS2 HD collection similar to Ico collection.

Ive only played about an hour into the game... but does this game's story kinda worth like MGS3/Peace Walker ?

In that I mean, It's kind of stand alone to the rest of the series, but if you're into the fiction the "prequel" explains the events of the future games better than the future games themselves? I'm kinda hoping that is. After Peace Walker it gave me more appreciation for the narrative in the future games because I felt like it somehow cleared up 'the future'. I mostly understood what KH2 was about - but it's been a real long time since I played it and I remember having to really "study" the fiction to really get a grasp on it. Basically I'm asking: Does this game provide better clarity into the overall KH storyline?

Also one more question: What did I miss in Kingdom Hearts DS? Could someone care to spoil the entire game in a few lines for me? Thanks!

What exactly is there to 'clarify'? KH's plot isn't overcomplicated, it's just very, very stupid.

Anyway, you get more information that's not important to prior entries in the series but will be important for setting up later installments.

Also, concerning 358/2 Days:

You play as Roxas from his 'birth' to the time he gets stuck in the Virtual Twilight Town. In the process he makes friends with Axel and the newest 14th member of the Org, Xion, and is tasked with killing Heartless to collect hearts for their Kingdom Hearts.

Over time, it is learnt that Xion is made out of Sora's memories. Somehow. Also, that she is draining Roxas' power by being near him. Somehow. It's also learnt that since she is made out of memories, if she dies no one will remember she ever existed. Somehow.

Anyway, Xion decides to die for Roxas' sake but somehow this ends up with her being the final boss. She dies after telling Roxas that the Org. sucks. Roxas decides to take revenge on the Organization and blow up their Kingdom Hearts because he believes that will bring Xion back. Somehow.

Riku shows up and beats him up hands him over to DiZ. Roxas proceeds to forget Xion, and after DiZ has Namine erase his memory, everything else as well. The end.

So true. :lol

To be honest, I was all in with Kingdom Hearts. It was a cute, simple story with some neat background if you dived deeper (Ansem's Reports, etc.).

Unfortunately, after that, Organization XIII came to be.
