It melts my cold heart to say it, but they haven't made a Resident Evil as good as 4 since

The bear of bad news
Forget Village, this is why they are just straight remaking 4 now. It's better than the other games.

The shooting and encounter design don't feel as good in any later Resident Evil. The shooting and movement feels floaty and weird now. 4's shooting was so satisfying.

The only thing they actually tried adding to the gameplay is running and shooting at the same time and some other movement options but it takes away from the suspense of bumbling to reload your weapon before the zombies get you and makes it feel more action than survival horror.

You're not really saying anything controversial there, 4 is without a doubt the best game in the franchise, and one of the best games of all time period

I'd be hyped if they do a new RE that basically keep the RE2/3 Remake formula for gameplay/graphics but with a completely new adventure.

Since what?

Curious if they'll do 5 and 6.
Now's their chance to right those wrongs.
It's been a long time, but if memory serves, 5 had potential...but 6 was just bad. With the liberties they took with these other remakes, they might have a little wiggle room to change those up drastically. That being said, I don't think they'll touch them.

5 will go over super well in current times with all the black zombies and the white protagonist lol

I want a 5 remake bad tbf, game was fun as fuck in coop

I'd actually like some of the co-op elements removed, especially the inventory system.

But they've made some amazing ones. 4 is a perfect game. I'm okay if "all" we get are some 9/10's after, it's an impossible bar.

That said - RE2 Remake is better I'm sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE4 > RE2 > RERemake > RE2Remake

Resident Evil 7 is the closest for me (ironically, since RE7 is the most different from RE4 design wise), the team is very talented but they keep trying to repeat Resident Evil 4 with mixed results, the next attempt is, curiously Resident Evil 4

We need a new 3rd person resident evil game that isn't a remake of the old ones. I like first person but hopefully they return to 3rd person view for RE9

REmake > 2 > 2 remake > 3 OG.

4 is only an RE game by name, the remake looks like it might be fixing that. 4 IS a fantastic action game in its own right, but it's not what RE is, not to me anyway.
and the 1st person RE's barely fit the bill either. 7 was a decent experience until the boat, then it just shit the bed. 8 was just an utter disappointment all round. Ethan's a crap protagonist and the Chris section was awful. Really hope this rose DLC is an end to all that part of the story and 9 goes back to Chris and the other STARS etc.

why would declaring this melt your heart?...

afa re4 remake, didn't they just finish 'straight remaking' re2 & re3? does this make them better than the other games, too?...

I bought it in sale on Switch and the controls were really throwing me off. And I'm like a veteran in this game. Played it more in GameCube than I did on Wii.

What control scheme makes the most sense to ya'll? I thought it was type 3 that worked for me but they all seemed bad.
