It took 217 days for GTAIV to come to PC, it is now over 200 days since GTAV came out

I thought because of how it was developed a PC port would be impossible. Something about messy code.

I'd love a PC port, BTW.

That's just a rumour. Supposedly R* had to butcher RAGE quite heavily to get the game running acceptably on the PS360 and so a PC port was deemed too much of a bother, but this seems incredibly dubious to me considering the engine was made specifically to aid in then-next-gen development -- the idea that the game would take a lot of work to port over from the somewhat PCesque X360 isn't one I'm inclined to entertain. I mean, belated PC ports enjoying something of a renaissance over the past couple of years is largely because it's relatively easy to port something from the Xbox platforms to the PC.

The OP is looking an awful lot like the question I asked yesterday in another thread. :D

So yes, I've been thinking the exact same thing. Mostly I've been curious to why R* is so quiet regarding it, especially since most seem to take for granted that a PC (and "next-gen") version is coming sooner rather than later. My only guess to this would be that the PS3 and 360 versions are still selling so well that they see no reason to hurt their own sales. I imagine that the amount of double-dipping that will occur will be impressive on its own, but the sooner they announce a PC version, the fewer double dips will occur.

Either way, I'm certainly getting more and more restless each day that passes without any news from R*. And since they never attend E3 I more or less expect no news from there either. In a perfect world they would just come out and announce their plans (and not just "we'll be where the audience is" like last time), even if it means we won't see a port for months...it would at least make me satisfied in knowing. :)

PC version will probably come out alongside the next gen versions. R* are waiting for for the installed base to grow.

My guess:
- summer 14 SP DLC release
- fall 14 next gen announcement
- spring 15 next gen release

Exactly what you wanted to hear, right?
Take up of the new generation has beaten a lot of expectations. It is already at quite a healthy amount, and when you look at game charts it is quite clear that PS4/XBO titles are having no trouble out-selling PS3/360.

I expect PC and PS4 versions and will come with the DLC.

Will release this year.

One question guys/girls, if game comes out this year and if it is 60$ will that price be acceptable for you?
That's why I think it will come with DLC. Adds value, makes the full price tag go down easier.

Nah, unless it comes with DLC. But I've already played it on PS3 so I'm not itching to play it like some of these people are.

I would imagine the reason we haven't seen the PC version yet is because MS or Sony has made some kind of exclusive E3 deal with R*.

R* is pretty much done on PC if they never bring over Gta V, not to say i care that much cause i'd trade it for a good port of Midnight Club L.A.

Meh, if they release it, I buy. If they don't then I don't. I really can't be bothered to struggle through another game that's too ambitious for the 360/ps3, so I'm not cracking. I spend most of the time fighting the game, rather than enjoying it.

They're recuperating from the GTAO flop, still!

I was expecting a May release for it, but i guess, since some major DLC is coming out this year, a "complete version" will be after that, on PC and current gen consoles, too.

Yeah, I thought it was a bit weird that they weren't able to get a barebones PC port done with the 360's development ease.

Probably, yeah. I haven't played either console, so I'd get it at full price. I'd even get the physical release as long as it was Steamworks.

GTAIV is considered to be one of the worst ports of all time, optimization is horrible.

We have mid-range systems that literally put the PS4 to shame, yet GTAIV brings even high-end systems down to a crawl.

Which is why waiting for current gen ports of GTAV isn't so bad, since the optimizations made for the PS4/Xbone will benefit PCs as well, since they're all the same architecture, rite?

This could potentially be true. Wasn't GTAV promoted by Sony the most with exclusive bundles for PS3. Perhaps Sony want to announce the PS4 version at E3, of course it won't be exclusive, at most perhaps exclusive content, but same as the PS3 deal with promotion for PS4 versions the most.

MS did the same thing with GTA IV.

They also did an excellent job with the PC version of Max Payne 3 so they're learning. I think.

At this point I'm betting for a reveal at e3 for next gen versions and the pc version. Probably to be released in the fall with some sort of dlc and maybe some exclusives. Sold at $60.

It's 1419 days since Red Dead Redemption got released and I am still having hopes of it getting a PC release.

I think GTAO changes things up here. My guess is that Rockstar wants a re-release of the game to coincide with a relaunch of GTAO, or at least a significant update to it.

I wouldn't be surprise if they held back the PC version so they release it after the PS4/XOne versions in an attempt to make people triple dip.

Not really. I get it like 70~ FPS @ 1080p all maxed out, on a 780gtx and thats a linear title, imagine a game world 100x the size with more ai more physics and such.

Max Payne 3 is significantly more detailed in every area though and has a lot more going on with the guns and hit reactions.

Your computer might be bottlenecked or something. When I had a 7870 gpu I ran the game at 60fps, 1080p, 4x MSAA. I probably could have pushed the resolution up to 1600p and kept it at the same framerate if these benchmarks I see online are correct.

wouldn't be surprised if we never get one, because rockstar hates us. the game runs like shit on consoles to the point i didn't even want to play it.

You probably didn't have every thing maxed then.

And by maxed out what do You exactly mean? 8x MSAA? If yes, than of course it didnt run over 70fps.

A PC port will take time, they need to reprogram the engine, the console versions were dependent on disks remember, that's why digital versions weren't as good. The game was built to stream from the disc in a way other games aren't.

Why do people even want this any more? Rockstar hates PC and they are bad at the platform. Social club is just terrible and its pretty obvious they just don't care. If you haven't played it, just get it on PS3 or 360 stop waiting for what could never come.
