Ninja scroll? What a film!

And people say Sony doesn't know what they are doing marketing wise. If they had given us a date a month ago no one would be talking about the game now.

They can just sit still and milk this, lmao

Imagine releasing a trailer in November that says this.

So many people would have gone crazy by then.

Works for Nintendo.
Works for MS, works for Konami, looks like it works for anyone. There was clearly more hype about Starfield before it was shown for example and the hype for a Silent Hill game will instantly die when Bloober Team shows their game or something.

In the end you still got to deliver or the hype train will crash but they probably still make more money that way anyway.

Of course. Santa Monica is a studio where there is no pattern to worry about whether they can deliver or not.

Lol people are getting crazy. So much drama over pseudo announcements speculated by twitter insiders :messenger_grinning_sweat: :lollipop_flores:
The most important thing is that the game has been confirmed by Cory Barlog yesterday to have not been delayed and we already know that November will be the month.
Let them decide when they want to announce things and the proper time to not distract the dev team with promotional material and to coordinate PR efforts with other events, start of preorders, and so on.

People getting worked up about a release date... sometimes I forget how grown-up people can react. It's like you have nothing better to do than play GoW....
judging by some of the profile pictures on this site i wouldn't blame you for thinking that way lmfao

lmao so basically the game is ready to be properly revealed and they have the release date ready but they will make us wait just because they are bitter about leakers leaking their shit before them.

Maybe if you practiced better communication you wouldn't have to worry about leakers hyping up your shit better than you

That's not the damned reason. Use your brain a little.

Of course it is. You really believe a game scheduled for release in 4ish months has ZERO footage thats ready to be revealed? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

That is some heavy PR bullshit. The game is near completion at this point, and is CERTAINLY in a state thats ready to be shown off.

No. It's not.

So whats the reason.

And dont tell me its nOt ReAdy. The game is closer to completion than not.
The reason is that was never the "real date."

You are letting these insiders whip you all up into a frenzy and making up some crazy ass head cannon about corporate action.

I don't understand why a game which has been in development for such a long ass time still doesn't have a firm release date or any updated footage.

I'm guessing the game was internally delayed so they could rip off Elden Rings or Breath of the Wild (which would be a damn shame - because the semi linear approach in God Of War is far better than the open world copycats in gaming).

I'm sure they're also adding on tons of meaningless side quests to artificially pad the length of game in the same way Ubisoft games take 50 million years to complete.

Maybe so, I do hate these "insiders" - But I hate the industries secrecy/lack of communication even more so.
Its the only industry thats so secretive in the entertainment business

And the most idiotic post of the day goes too..... OZ9000.

Funny that if we didn't have Twitter any of this would be an issue.
It was simply a game in development that would come out this year eventually.

These so called insiders just love the chaos...

Sony of 2013 e3 would for sure do 11.11 date. As well as they quickly capitalized on off--line games and borrowing games.
Sony today is really slow and secret

Nope the "issue" is them officially announcing the game with an unrealistic date of 2021 then public insisting it will release in 2022 without providing any more information.

On top of that you add the fact that Sony doesn't have a big event in the E3 period anymore, they are operating completely differently this gen compared to how they were with the PS4, by this point last gen Sony was all hype, this time they are quiet all the time.

Tell me that you don't know how game development works, without actually saying it.

So we just adjust to that. They announced TLoU remake 3 months before release. Sony isn't "playing by the rules" for a while.

"Move on and plan the rest of the year seriously"

LOL

Are these ppl serious? Do something else and play the game when it comes out jeez. It's a 15 hr experience and you gotta plan your whole year around that? I'm excited for ragnarok too but damn there's a million things to play or do in the meantime. People gotta grow up

Well It better be longer than 15 hours lol. Supposedly its longer than GOW 2018 which was longer than 15 hours

Which we should be used to it by now. Since, they've done this with several games already since TLoU2, as in not announcing the hard date until a few months out at most.

This is a combination of people really wanting GoW, and Starfield delay breaking people. Then these insider dopamine cucks whipping up the twittardsphere into a frenzy.

Insiders are absolutely not at fault here. 30-40 year old incel virgins who never left their mom's basement are though along with Sony's way of marketing. Marketing from the PS4 was way better. I miss Shawn Layden and Andrew House.

Looks like Sony found out the secret to maximize hype, doing nothing.

If you think about it the most hyped game are always the ones people have little info on for long periods of time.

When crazy fans start to send dick picks to devs you know the hype is getting out of control.
At least they aren't making absurd promises because that's when you fail... like some game did in the past and a certain game is doing right now.

It wasn't the public insisting it would release this year it was people actually working on the game that started that

People have lost their goddamn minds. I can't even imagine what it's like to be a game designer making games for a bunch of man babies like this. They should just release a Ragnarok build that has Kratos shitting on this Tweet and credits roll. That's the game.

Idiotic? Why?

Game design now appears to be influenced entirely by whatever From Software product

You should be aware that Elden Rings features a lot of copy and pasted content with repeated dungeons.

I think it can work either way, there was something about the PS4 early years, the enthusiasm about what was coming Sony is failing to recreate this time (even if they have actually delivered a lot more already in comparison). I guess they just calculated that it doesn't matter at this point due to stock issues and that they can do their thing low key for now.

I was surprise how weak the market push was for the new PS+ as well, the God of War Ragnarok one is also really strange, by now if it's really a 2022 the heavier marketing campaign should've kicked in.

yeah me too. They were so much better. Jack Tretton was actually very sympathetic

Sony is becoming egotistical again and arrogant due to them being a market leader. Reminds me of PS3 days and those were horrible for Sony. Also, not a fan of Jimbo, 0 charisma or energy compared to that of Shawn Layden and Andrew House. Miss the PS4 Sony team. :/

as opposed to GOW copy pasting the same troll boss over and over again? except in that game it's far worse since with elden ring being open at least means they have an excuse.
Look, copy and paste is a common thing in game design. Have you ever encountered a fucking RPG where every enemy and encounter is wholly new with new enemies and new concepts and 0 enemies from the last fight? No. With games being as big budget and overbudget as they are these days it's only natural developers will reuse some stuff to speed up the game development process and get their shit out on time. It's been a thing since the dawn of video games. Take a chill pill my bill, you might not wanna die on this hill.

I haven't been able to figure it out yet, something has changed but I think it goes beyond arrogance, it's like they have a different vision as to what their PlayStation division can be.

Focusing on movies, TV series, PC, e-sports, GaaS, skipping E3, not hyping things up far in advance, a lot has changed. Even the way they market PSVR2 is really weird.

I feel like Covid is also a big factor of that. Also, I remember hearing there was a big disagreement internally between Shawn and Jimbo and Jim ended up taking over as well. I think they had different visions for the company moving forward.
