The insiders throwing out random reveal dates on twitter is what is really causing the hype. That Harry Potter game doesn't have a official release date and no one is talking about that game because insiders aren't.

Yeah 11.11.22 is just sitting there, if it's November it'll be that.

I don't it matters when the game releases in Nov because God of War is big enough to out shine most games besides maybe Call of Duty.

Look, copy and paste is a common thing in game design. Have you ever encountered a fucking RPG where every enemy and encounter is wholly new with new enemies and new concepts and 0 enemies from the last fight? No. With games being as big budget and overbudget as they are these days it's only natural developers will reuse some stuff to speed up the game development process and get their shit out on time. It's been a thing since the dawn of video games. Take a chill pill my bill, you might not wanna die on this hill.

I am not defending the repeated troll boss in GOW - the lack of unique bosses was my biggest criticism for the game. I just don't like the trend of shoe horning open world game design in every game.

God Of War should stick to the same semi-linear approach. It had a good structure for story and plenty of side quests.

It's understood that this announcement was still the plan until just yesterday, with Sony announcing the release date of the game in addition to the God of War Collector's Editions.

It's believed that the original contents of the blog consisted of Collectors Edition details, the release date, and assurance that the game is doing well in development and that gameplay of the game will be at a later date.

Yea, I think it's exactly that, Jimbo's vision is what we are seeing (a PlayStation division that goes beyond consoles and what they were already traditionally good at), Shawn Leyden's was probably pushing for them to stay on course.

I think we'll find out what has really changed once the stock issues have been solved, by then Sony will have more incentives to show their hand.

I haven't been able to figure it out yet, something has changed but I think it goes beyond arrogance, it's like they have a different vision as to what their PlayStation division can be.

Focusing on movies, TV series, PC, e-sports, GaaS, skipping E3, not hyping things up far in advance, a lot has changed. Even the way they market PSVR2 is really weird.

Elden Ring is the first open world Souls game.

And the first open world game with instantly on the spot spawned horse, with double jump.

The verticality is another thing that makes it stand out. Other open world games are flat, even if they can have hills and even mountains you're never in a new area looking down at previous areas like in ER.

Instant horse summon makes the combat varied and fresh for Souls games, it really plays nothing like Demon's or Dark Souls outside of the narrow space areas.

The way you can take alternative paths around difficult areas, and even bosses (some), and go out on long adventures with new content and bosses in no way needed to complete the game is unique too and makes it a ton less frustrating since you don't get stuck in the same way.

If you guys havnt learned that there's no such thing as a firm release date and that any game can be said by a developer to be "on track" and still get a delay right up until when it's supposed to come out, then you havnt learned a thing!

The one thing I'm sure of is that I'm not sure if this will come out in '22 and you guys shouldn't be either. Sony's got a history for changing their mind on stuff. This could become a similar situation as Last of Us 2 which got multiple delays even after they made a big deal about its "Feb '20' release.
