does casting family members ever turn out well? michael chiklis daughter was bad in the shield too

and matt weiners kid in mad men..

My favorite character on Terriers was played by the lead actor's sister. There's lots of cases where it turns out well.

I don't understand how that guy can be so against portraying a character being intimate with a woman, yet have no problem with murder and torture.

You don't understand the difference between throwing punches and firing blanks, and rubbing against another actor's body? Obviously he's not concerned about the actions of the character he's playing. It's not like he's only played celibate characters.

Ah, of course! Sorry, I've only been thinking of the portrayal of the character, not the actor.

Well gosh darn you for destroying two arguments I believed in, in one fell swoop :)

Really good episode. Great GIFs people. Is Arlo suffering from onset dementia or something? Cause that scene makes it seem like he might be. And Wynn is scared shitless of Quarles, I love it.

Also that ending... hahaha, I fucking loved it.

- “When the Guns Come Out” – Writer’s Recap (youtube vid)
You would never have known it, but by watching this week’s episode, you got yourself a bit of a history lesson. Courtesy of Justified.

You see, not many people know about Kentucky’s Coe Ridge Colony. In fact, it was a new piece of history for many of the Justified writers. But when it was brought up in the writers’ room, it didn’t take long to realize that Coe Ridge needed to become part of the Justified landscape. And, thus, Nobles Hollar—home to Ellstin Limehouse—was born.

Nobles Holler shares much of Coe Ridge’s history. Like Coe Ridge, Nobles Holler is a small sliver of country cut out by emancipated slaves following the Civil War. As one can imagine, keeping the people and culture of Coe Ridge secure from outside threats became a constant battle. It was the colony’s willingness to defend itself, by any means necessary, that kept enemies out and ushered in abused and battered women from all over the state, hoping to escape their hot-tempered lovers. After all, no white man was dumb enough to try and chase his wife into a holler like Coe Ridge.

In this week’s writer’s recap video, I sat down with Nichelle Tramble Spellman—one of the writers of “When the Guns Come Out” (the other being Co-Exec. Producer Dave Andron)—to discuss the genesis of Nobles Holler, the history of Coe Ridge, and all the usual behind-the-scenes goodness from the Justified set.

Been following this show since the third season premier.. unfortunately, I watched all of the third season (whats been aired) before the first two.

however, I'm catching up on them now. On the 4th ep of the 2nd season.

God, this show is addicting. I love it :))

Poor ava :( Also, it's nuts to see her in season 3, going along with the planned pill mill boyd is planning and all his other tom foolery to seeing her in season 2 not allowing Boyd to break any laws ... at all.

New episode tonight.
The Man Behind the Curtain

Raylan's feud with Quarles and the Detroit mob heats up; Raylan is put at odds with the FBI.

Ha ha ha ha. Pretty funny ending, but that felt kinda like half an episode. I envy the people that get to marathon through this season on blu-ray.

So Quarles just likes to torture male prostitutes and it cost him rank? They set that up like it was some bigger story.

I think it paints his character as a sociopath (more than he already comes across as). Dunno what will happen when he flies off the rails towards the end of the season.

Pretty good episode, slow, but it is an obvious set up for next week's EXPLOSION filled episode.

It was a good episode albeit far too short. The beginning felt a little disjointed to me, where we find out Raylan is living in a new place above a bar and that he's also a bouncer there...It felt like I missed an episode or something.

I wonder if he also fucks them, or if he just tortures them? Maybe he's secretly gay and has a self loathing complex so he takes it out on the escorts?

When I said "we aren't that lucky" after last week's episode, I was wrong! We are that lucky! I seriously hope that's
Gary in the body bag. Could he deserve it any more? A fucking real estate schemer.
I mean the ending of this week's episode makes it pretty clear who it is, but Justified has punked me before, so...

Did any of you see the next episode clip?

Things are going to get very hairy!!!

As for today's episode, enjoyed it a lot more than last weeks, sure it felt like it cut off soon, but it makes the wait for next week more so unbearable haha.

Love Raylan and Gutterson's interactions, Quarles was great tonight as well, also loved how all the crooks were thinking Raylan was dirty lol.

When did they reveal that?

Specifically when he offered a bribe to Raylan at the bar, and subsequent dialogue relating to why he was kicked out of Detroit.

Its what he had in the quick glimpses of the back rooms, showing he still hasn't gotten over it, and the torture has nothing to do with information, just being a psycho.

Also WHOOOOOO more Deadwood cameos! Ian McShane needs a cameo before the show ends.

He has to play the head of the Dixie Mafia in the show's final season (or maybe penultimate season, as the final season should probably be Raylan vs. Boyd one last time)

Anyway, I liked this episode as ever, it's just such an involving show, even when huge set pieces aren't occurring. I expected Quarles would set Raylan up when he first mentioned he thought he was dirty, but not in the way that it appears he will (poor Gary!)

EDIT: Also loved his handling of Johnny in the back office. That's so Raylan!

That episode kind of dragged for me. It was all setup for the interesting things to come, but due to that nothing interesting happened.

Yost says that Timothy Olyphant came up with the idea for handling Johnny in that manner. Then again, he says Olyphant came up something in all of those interviews, I think he's desperate to justify his producer credit after Sutter's rant :p
