Guys there was a big explosion from the suicide bag because he dove in front of three barrels of gunpowder...

I totally missed that there was randomly gunpowder there. Still, a suicide bag held to his chest setting off barrels at his back is more powerful that bags we've seen thus far.

I hope future characters or group introductions don't require 3 life savings before they trust our heroes finally.

well at this point it's implied that they all understand the contract and the main characters, as seen in the OP, have all agreed they are useful so at least for the main group it should now turn into bonding together. I'm sure Samurai will be the one to cry the loudest when one of these two eventually dies.

Just watched all the episodes this morning and I really like it. I absolutely love the 80s style anime look of the characters. The animation is great, music is great, characters are p cool. Story is alright too!

I know lots of Attack on Titan comparisons are being drawn, but there are a lot of things here that differentiate it enough for me, even if it explores a lot of the same elements.

I thought Ep 5 was going to be a slight lull before the next set of happenings but they immediately got into it. The only thing that I found slightly annoying was Mumei because of the stuff that happens in the first half but it also gave a bit more insight into her situation and her mindset right now that we haven't gotten up until this point.

The most impressive thing about these first 5 episodes to me has been that there really hasn't been a wasted moment at all. They've filled it with action and content to build up the world, story, or characters all without it feeling disjointed or heavy at all.

I'm disappointed and approving at the same time that Ikoma is a jack of all trades. Isn't as useful in a fight as Mumei since she has been training for ages, but still more reliable than the humans in the train. I guess his point of standing out is of the intellectual/science type, but they didn't really make a big deal of his inventions this episode. It was like "oh by the way because of plot convenience I make bullets and sword"

"cool thanks"

and that was it lmao.

Really has been a fantastic job done by all upto this moment, better execution then AoT even though that had a manga to go off of.

Mumei is a beast, but this time I'm not sure what she can do. That is one Titan of a Kabane they will need to beat next week.

I really want to know what sort of scum Mumei's "brother" is. Sounds like he really doesn't see even humans as people, so I doubt he sees Mumei as anything more than a tool.

Fused colony is an interesting developments, reminds me a lot of the Spread comics (light Spread spoilers).
In Spread, those infected by the Spread can fuse into bigger monsters, the biggest being massive Spread worms.

Now all I want is a Spread animated series lol.

The black smoke monster ended up being less cool of a thing than I thought it'd be. I'll just assume they were able to make an educated guess about where the Kabaneri were based on where they fell but yeah that part was pretty convenient.

shhh Graham I'm still compiling this Radiant map
Started cracking up when train girl suddenly pulled off her shirt and she was ripped af. Not that I didn't like that, mind you.

The first half off this episode was a little lame with the weak / strong dialogue, but the second half was entertaining.

You gotta be pretty ripped to run the train. That or Araki likes buff girls (remember Mikasa sit ups)

episode was somewhat slow with the small past flashbacks and the planning on how to take down that colony thing

but it built up to a fast paced ending part of the episode
