I feel you, but not like GKMC, imo. I'm probably the biggest lover of LFTU in gaf hop lol.
Nah man, I'm with you on LFTU. It's a fantastic album. I just think this Kendrick is something special. It was only behind HnC for me, and would probably pass that by the end of the year.

Why are you guys shitting up a thread about kendrick's album by comparing him against other artists releases this year. Don't need to be talking about how much you prefer krit's albums here (nothing wrong with preferring him though, he's great too).
Back on topic i gotta say bsf really grew on me especially after listening to it with the context of the album.

No, but that's fine if you think so. There are about 30 KRIT fans in the Gaf-hop that would disagree with you though and tell you LFTU was a disappointment.

It wasn't for me!

On topic, I'm gonna give good kid more listens. I always thought giving reviews based on a couple listens is dumb as fuck.

In contrast, I've listened to LFTU over 100 times, so my veredict is pretty much final.

After hearing the album, I definitely like the Deluxe cover more than the standard version now. That van has been through so much lol.

Holy mother of fuck at this album. So fucking incredible. This is the best debut in a loooong time. I think as of now, its better than section.80. Goddam.

If it only wasn't for BSF. Fucking fuck that shit for ruining the album. The other song Im not feeling is Now or Never (I know its a bonus) but I think it might grow on me. We'll see.

Also, Compton is awesome. Good way to close.

I was one of the people who liked Compton when it came out, but for some reason i'm feelin it even more now...damn

this is king kendrick lamar
king kendrick

The skits are pretty phenomenally well done. Really impressed with this.

If the new FlyLo was this gen's Endtroducing, this feels like its Stakes Is High.

I wish i stayed dark on this album, would have blown my mind even more.

This is the reason why listening to this a couple hours ago fucked me up. Hadn't heard anything except for a few seconds of Swimming Pools.
Album is amazing first listen.. We'll see how much I like it in the next couple weeks, but damn.

You guys were right about Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst.
Shit's heavy.

Not for me. The Don, Stay, Loco-Motive, A queen's story, etc. are just on another level.

Nas' highs on Life is Good are on Kendrick's level. But LiG has so much filler while GKMD is fire from beginning to end (excluding the last bonus track, which is being replaced with C&C on my mp3 folder).

After a couple more listens, I like this album even more. Yup, I think this is better than Section 80.

All hail the king Kendrick Lamar!

So much filler? No. At worst, there are 2 filler songs on the regular version (Summer on Smash and Reach out). Guess what? You can remove those songs and add the excellent 4 bonus ones.

I disagree. No point in arguing in this thread though. There's plenty of time for this discussion on Gaf-hop's main thread or at the AOTY voting thread. Hope to see you there :)

Life isn't that good either way to be comparing other albums to it

Tied with RAP Music as my album of the year. The album(s) gets better the more I listen to it. To put GKMC on a higher tier is an accomplishment, definitely. I'm looking forward to Monday.

Indeed. I though LiG was good on my first listen. After 50 or so listens of the whole thing, it's a fantastic album. Third favorite album this year behing Live from the Underground and 4evanaday. In terms of Nas' albums, I put it only behind God's Son and Illmatic.

Even though I wouldn't say we're thread shitting by comparing GKMC to Life is Good, there is an argument for this not being the proper venue to hold this discussion. As such I'll temper my expectations on this album to about as good as S.80.

Luckily, most people are saying GKMC is superior.

Um. It Was Written?

That brings up an interesting philosophical question. How do you shit on that which has already shat itself?

People who only started listening to Kendrick during section 80 seem to have a hard time grasping this album. The first half is more akin to Overly Dedicated/Kendrick Lamar EP. The second half is more like Section 80.

Listening to this now. The transition from the track 1 to 2 was flawless.

I really do not like OD/the EP that much and love this album.

I do have to say, though, that the first half feels that he's succeeding in what I think he failed at in those two releases.
