It reminds me a LOT of Starship Troopers, which is a very good thing.
That's the vibe I got from the opening as well. And I liked it. Also about the opening - I really liked it. Loved the art style and eavesdropping on incidental chatter from NPCs. The view from the deck of that spacecraft was beautiful. Even though the conceit is very familiar, the look of the game truly sets it apart. It is a moving work of art in some respects, especially when you reach Helghan - just wow (bugububu it's grey and brown!) .....

dude wtf

Anyway, anyone else think words like 'linear', 'boring', corridor shooter, poor A.I. etc ... this shit needs to start being substantiated in a way that makes it meaningful. Lately it just seems like lazy buzzwords that people have co-opted in order to try and verbalize their dissatisfaction with a shooter. Your so-called critiques of these games has become more rote and predictable than the games themselves.

this needs to go on the back of a box or something.

THIS. This. this.

Before it was 'generic', 'bland' and now that's played out, boring, 'too much detail', too many things happening
at once, not enough things happening on screen. And my personal favorite :

Unfortunately, the game falls into the same trap than many other FPSes : run, shoot, destroy, rince and repeat.

REALLY, i mean really ?

Where do I get the unlockables from the Killzone.com website?

I went to the Campaign stats & unlockables page and I can see them, but I can't seem to download them.

So you're saying there are no sniper rifles in this game? Nothing that has a better range than what you start with?

Are you fucking high or is this game just that shit?
there are sniper rifles - you gotta earn it for mp though

Complaints about the campaign don't resonate with me. I thought it was a great campaign, better than most shooters; even the controls felt fine in single player for what you were doing. Multiplayer, however, I can totally understand control complaints since I share them. Everything about multiplayer (sans unlocking classes) is fuckawesome -- except the controls. I'm still trying to get used to them and I've experimented with slower and faster speeds and all that. It's not completely broken or anything, it's just lacking finesse. I think Shawn Elliot said it best when he talked about how being aware and stuggling with the controls isn't something you should be doing, and that's how I feel playing it online. It's not thing to do with the PS3 controller either since I feel the two best dual analog controls are UT3 on the PS3 and CoD4 on the 360.

How many points do i need to unlock different classes?
I want the engineer but will settle for medic or support.
I think i have about 300points.

FINALLY FINISHED
Everything in the Palace kicked my ass, Radec himself wasn't too bad though.

Epic ending, awesome credits. Cannot wait for the sequel. Story the first 60% of the game was quite slow but by the end they really pulled it together IMO. Hope they use the same characters next time.

Loved it. :D KZ3 2011 please!

Question: Does it feel the same to you in SP and MP? Are you saying the SP feel just doesn't work in MP or that MP altogether feels different and needs tuning?

Just curious.

Has anyone beat it on elite yet?

It took like 5hrs to beat the part before the end guy. I can not imagine it on elite. The end battle has to be the shittiest part of the game.

There are sniper rifles, but the standard issue Hig and Isa assault rifles are all around good weapons. Good long range and close quarters.

Seems better to earn everything gradually.

Yes, and they're worth the effort.

I unlocked it last night and it's obvious why it's the last class: they're absolutely deadly.
Fuck you and your cloaked 1-shot kills.
till I unlock Scout and join the fun!

I don't want to open the can of worms... again but I'm with those of you that have slight issue with the controls. I am loving the game, single player is great and the bit of MP I played last night (got to Sergeant and 50 points away from the next rank) is a lot of fun too. However the controls aren't perfect. Perfection for a MP FPS is CoD4 PS3 controls. KZ2 will take more getting used to but once you do it will definitely be manageable. Though, I will probably suffer again making the transition from KZ2 to Modern Warfare 2 whenever it releases later this year. :\

"Guys, I was just about to come in here and threadcrap about the controls (especially aiming) sucking nuts!

THEN, before threadcrapping, I searched around for a solution, AND I FOUND ONE!!!

These controls are 10x better IMO:

X axis = +1 or 60%
Y axis = +4 or 90%
Zoom Hold = Check the Box
Button Mapping = Alternate 2

Omg it's SO much easier to play like this. The problem with the default aiming system is that the x:y axis ratio is not 1:1. This is ridiculous to have by default IMO. The y-axis setting must be 30% higher to have it approximately 1:1, and the settings above reflect that. Also, Alternate 2 simply makes L2 "Zoom" and R3 "Close Combat", which is much more logical and similar to most FPS's on the PS3. When "Zoom" is bound to L2, you will want to enable "Zoom Hold", also reflected in the above settings.

I hope this helps guys! It made a world of difference for me!! I'm a hardcore FPS player, and the default controls nearly made me puke they were so disgusting! No exaggeration!!!"

Taken off AVS Forum

Try it and see if it helps. I'm using it now just for the hell of it and I like it but I never had any issues with the default setup either.

the controls I use in single and multiplayer are the same, but it's the scenarios where you use those controls in single versus multiplayer that are totally dfferent.

This is what I don't understand. Its perfect for that game but if it was like that in this game it would just be COD4 re-skinned with classes.

I like it when every game feels different... I have never played an online FPS over long periods like most so maybe thats why they don't feel weird to me. I just find it awkward that everyone seems to want a game that plays like COD4.

I kinda agree, the aiming feels very slow at first, i'm personally having a very hard time aiming with L1. It's a lot less responsive than CoD, and there's less aiming assist than CoD (although aiming assist fucks me up more than anything else). But it's like with any other game, you just need to get used to it. Also, CoD is 60fps and that helps it a lot.

I played this on a full surround setup last night at a buddy's house....the audio is almost overwhelming! It really is an amazing piece of work.

Sidearm Specialist is a bitch. The gun is incredible weak for some reason. If you don't hit someone straight in the face, you will either die first or someone else will kill your target.

Multiplayer is fucking awesome though, the variety in the classes, the leveling system, but most of all the intensity of the battles. 10 hours invested already.

Anyone else have the problem of their DualShock 3's motion sensor not working properly for this game? I have to plug the controller in every time I play to get it to start working, works fine with other games though.

Interesting game so far (somewhere in Visari's Square, currently).

An extremely minor quibble is that I am apparently a midget compared to my NPC homies. I barely approach shoulder height with them or I'm just always hunched over.

So far, the game moves you from encounter to encounter well and it is pretty.

Finishing regular player before I play multi.

Seems weird but I don't notice that much of a difference. I was on +6 for both slots before. Is this for SP or MP by the way? SP I crank them up to +6 but I leave them on default for MP.

If this is true this explains a lot. It should be 1:1 by default. I would love to test this but I can't because this piece of crap hardware had a YLOD. So gaf, go go go!

so how does the game look in sd?

I don't even want to think about it. I feel ashamed playing it on my 32inch 1080i. I couldn't imagine playing it on a 65inch high-end Plasma with surround sound. *drools*

SnakeXs

about the same metal capacity as a cucumber
My main issue with the controls is the acceleration. I can't find a perfect sweet spot between turning speed, and (lesser) sensitivity while zoomed in tracking and aiming at someone.

Ah well.

Has anyone here bought the game from shopto? I've never had a problem with them but I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive. -.-

I'm just making the point that "I LIKE THIS GUN, THIS IS THE BEST GUN EVAR U STFU" is fucking retarded.

I like taking my time with my shots and I'm not a run and gun cunt.

Controls feel better to me than they did in the demo. Maybe I'm adapting, I dont know. I haven't played to much thru SP (At the square) but I'm not really pulled in yet. Is there a moment for anyone that made the game turn around for them? I'll stick with it and play it thru, but I'm really hoping to hit that moment when the game hits it's stride and picks up.

Haven't tried any MP yet. Souns like I'm gonna get rocked for a while at it. :lol

Because COD 4 played beautifully. I'm all for the idea that different games play differently, but some control better than others. Sure, you can get used to it, but that's pretty much the worst excuse for the seemingly sluggish controls that a person can say. OF COURSE we can get "used to it", but in the best games, controls aren't even a consideration.
