The reality is, you're wrong. There is a definite aim-assist. In fact, in the single player there is more of this then online. Try hiding behind cover and clicking the right stick. It will center on the heavy. Now move your cursor "near" an enemy and tap the fire button. It will pop up and assist your direction to the enemy.

Also, there are actual input delay problems. I was a "non believer" as well because never before had this experience occurred in front of me. After the initial videos showing delay I tested it on my setup and it did not happen. However, yesterday I literally watched the menus and gameplay take up to a FULL SECOND to respond.

Was this the MP menu? I have never seen a delay with the SP, only with the MP (warzone) menu
 
No question there is aim assist. Stand against a wall, with your right side facing and against the wall. You will be looking down a line that runs parallel to the wall.

Now, make sure there's a door in the wall somewhere in front of you, the closer the better. No more than a few feet in game if possible.

Aim straight forward, so that as soon as someone comes out the door they will be dead in your aim. If they continue to move across your field of vision, the reticle will lock on and move the direction your character is facing to follow the enemy. Haven't timed how long it lasts or have no comparative way to measure it's strength, but it is most certainly there.

You're wrong. Firing from the hip, there's a lot of aim assist online, not so offline.

Aim assist yes, control issue? Possibly, but completely over-exaggerated.

People wouldn't have the skill they do if there were a control issue of the magnitude some try and lead you to believe.

Yeah, this is what I see. None of the main menu stuff is slow except everything after selecting "Warzone", where the menus feel a bit sluggish. I definitely notice it when trying to select spawn points or switch menu tabs (like moving to the squad menu).

I think you may have misunderstood. I made no comment about whether or not I thought it had too much aim assist, or not enough. Nor did I relate it in any way to a control issue.

The 'defense mode' stuff here is getting a bit out of hand.

On another note, do you think people are lying about their troubles with the controls? You don't see these issues in other threads, even PS3-exclusive ones. It's a genuine issue for a lot of people.

Probably best to just move on. No need to defend once you've stated your opinion on the matter.

Some thoughts after finishing the single player.

I both liked and hated the end, to see Sev just slump on the stairs in despair like that, knowing that the war still wasn't over even after all that had happened, I thought it was simple yet powerful.
Pretty depressed that they killed off Visari though, were it not for the arrival of the Helghast fleet it would have brought closure, but all it does is create a huge void, how are they going to fill it in Killzone 3? After playing, all I am left with is a feeling of emptiness, although maybe intended on GG's part, considering Sevs state?

Online is still a lot of fun but with very few people out there with headsets and and no chat window of any kind, communication is near nonexistent, teamwork is largely guesswork, it makes online difficult to feel like anything other then just a big zerg.

You know what fuck this game. Three times I get more than 10 kills with the sniper and I don't get shit. Fuck it I'm done with this game.

Yeah, just set the headset to search mode. Go to accessory settings on PS3 settings menu and do a search. It'll find it then you're connected forever :)

If you really think that the aim assist here is comparable to games like Halo3 and Left 4 Dead then you need to get your aim assist eyes checked. Never once in this game have I been aiming at one enemy when another enemy crossing the screen got locked onto for a second and that happens ALL the time in a lot of other fps games.

And if it has happened then it isnt even close to being as noticeable.

The delay in this game NEEDS to be there. If it wasnt and they kept the severe lack of aim assist then no one would ever hit anything. Twitchy 1 to 1 wouldnt work for this game.

And yea theres a noticeable delay on the menus. That much is very obvious.

It's pretty crazy that they killed off Visari...he's so iconic to the franchise. But I'm more upset that Radec killed himself. Such an awesome character; I would have liked him to embody the series' villain for more than just one game. The ending was great though; like you said with Sev's response to it all. Very powerful and emotional without being overdramatic.

Seriously jumping in between this and left 4 dead (and halo and the like) will show anyone that controls are tailored for every game and thats up to the developer. The controls in Left 4 dead are very twitchy and are more or less 1 to 1 and every slight movement sends the reticule flying across the screen. BTW is the sniper speacialist 10 headshots or ten sniper kills? I already have got the ribbon 4 times, but for some reason I can't get it anymore.

They are lacking for you because your not getting number one :p. Seriously though the controls work for some people, and they don't work for others. It doesn't make the controls shitty if you don't like the controls.

I am getting headshots. Its probably something on my end its just so frustrating when you are not that great with the sniper you get the kills but don't get shit to show for them.

I still really don't know what the complaint is with the controls. There's certainly no delay or anything during gameplay. Is peoples' problem just with how it accelerates between medium and full pressure on the analog stick? Because I very much prefer that when using a pad if they won't let you use KB/M.

Spend two hours trying to get something and then even though you met the requirements it didn't work then come talk to me. Its just frustrating wasting time on something that didn't work especially using a weapon your not really good with. Plus it seems like every game I try and get the badges in I'm playing with absolute idiots.

Menus have delay yes. Perhaps gameplay as well (every game has delay since it cannot read your mind, the questions is how much). But never does the game take a full second during gameplay, it would make the game unplayable.

What? They are functioning as intended, you may not like the way they feel but it is working as GG wants it too. Period.

The game has had a crapload of playtesting, you may not like their design choices but the controls are what GG intended with the exception of the Shotgun issue.

EDIT: Perhaps this was not the proper comment for the situation. Saying "They Suck" is just seems incorrect to me. They may tweak them to help some people but the controls as they stand are perfectly intact, work, and don't bother the majority of players.

You don't like how the game controls, so the game controls suck. We who dare like it can only come up with excuses as to why it sucks. What is there to discuss??

It's just 10 sniper kills not headshots. Same thing happened to me got 10 sniper kills but no ribbons popped up. BUT they did show up on my statistics when they updated. Check your stats. And press up on the d-pad if you think you should have 8 ribbons by now. I did that and realised I could zoom in before it had awarded me the medal.

I try and play most of my shooters on the PC so the only issue I had with KZ2 is the same issue I have with every console shooter, and that's simply re-adjusting to playing with a pad.

I'm not saying there's no issue at all, there's certainly a good amount of people complaining, but it's not as bad as a lot of people are making it out to be.

I'm just trying to figure out what it is that is causing the complaints. I'm guessing it is how it accelerates as the stick moves from null to full ranges, because that seems like what is most different between it and games like CoD where that is very subtle/minor.

1. That's the position you are on your team ... the 2nd number is the points via kills / turret kills / defending whatever points that you have.

2. The Pentagon looking thing is Mission Points I believe. Extra points you get for capping the Search and Retrieve thing ... points in Green Areas during Search and Destroy .... so on and so forth.

3. When you're selecting servers all the icons to the right side indicate what kind of games they are rotating. If you want to play all the match types on one map, make sure all those icons are lit.

After 7+ hours of online matches i think i'd like to see a couple of changes.

-First and the most important one, don't put objectives so close to each other in Search and Destroy modes, whenever this game mode is on the game becomes a giant mess, fun but a mess which could be fixed at least some by putting objectives far away from one another like in Vissaris Hammer map.

-I'd like some feedback during the round everytime i get a ribbon like in Bad Company, it's always nice to know you're doing something good DURING the match, at least have a little icon pop up somewhere.

-The ability to know what faction are my friends playing BEFORE i choose mine.

I know others have made some great suggestions already but i don't think theses in aprticular have been mentioned and i don't think it'd be much of a problem for GG to implement at least some into the game :D

Edit: I'd also like them to make bots inside team spawn areas 1 hit kill if possible, it's not difficult to go into a spawn area and kill a couple of guys even whti the turrets shooting at you.

Nah I understand but it definitely felt more like work. Its mostly due to who I had on my team such idiots. That's why I prefer the GAF games so much better. Its probably more of my frustration with the team I was stuck with.

I'll try this tonight, because last night, I totally did not like the way the game played. I seriously didn't like what I guess is a "Cover System", when at times it was hard to tell if I was in Cover or not.

Now that i think about it, i was zooming in yesterday without being awarded that medal :lol Didn't even realize it ha ha ha.

YES

After people started unlocking the Tactician EVERY map apart from Visari Hammer (I think) is a complete clusterfuck when Search & Destroy starts.

They need to go back and spread that shit out, it really is just terrible, lazy level design.

Either that or change how Tactician spawns work, whether removing Tac-spawn invulnerability or just preventing Tac-spawns from being placed within a certain distance of objectives.

Yeah they are there, but now I need to calm the fuck down and realized this is just a game. I have a question for some of you guys do you know what rank I would have to be to get inside the top 10%?
 
I look at the ribbons as just something nice and extra to keep me interested in the multiplayer once I get to the highest rank. (Kinda like my middling 15K gamerscore despite having a 360 since launch). I'm not going to go rabid over getting all the ribbons... certainly not when the game has been out for a week and there are a few hit detection issues that GG needs to iron out. So you shot a dude in the head 10 times online. Mazel tov. What, you want a line of Hellghast chorus girls to come out and dance for you?

Finally bothered to finish off the SP on Veteran and I have no clue what people were complaining about re: the last fight and the one leading up to it.

Even got a trophy for
finishing Radec in less than 20 mins.
What's supposedly the trouble again?

If possible then yes I do. My problem is that I get frustrated easily and tend to let shit like this get to me, but you definitely need the ribbons if you plan on doing clan tournaments that why I need them.
