KILLZONE 2 - The |OT|

Anyone else feel like hip-shooting is way more effective than ironsighting?
I was telling my friend the exact thing the other day. Iron sights is only effective (for me) when the enemy is mid-far to far away. I am still trying to get used to the controls, but I am not doing that bad. I got first place in a body count game last night, so that boosted my confidence. :lol

The time - 8:00 pm est.
The location - BEAMBER GAF (USA)
The password - BELIEVE (all caps)

Auto balancing = OFF. Let's please keep the teams as balanced as possible. I am keeping auto balance off because I know some groups like to stick together. We can do it. Think about your fellow GAFFER! :)

Also I'm sticking with 24 players - I think it's the sweet spot. I will clean up my friend's list a bit tonight, so if you want to play and you're not already on my FL, shoot me an FR and I'll add you. Once you are added, just 'Join Friend' and you'll be in the room.

Can't fucking wait to play tonight. :D
Ah good, you're finally password protecting it. I'll be in there tonight as soon as LOST is done.

Heh, I did the same today. Bumped the sensitivity down to default, because I couldn't hit a barn with it up.

Still waiting for that sniper rifle. Phyrrus is unplayable without some on a team.

Just about everyone. Iron sights are pretty much for long range only.

Or at least that's what works for me, and was probably a bigger hurdle than the controls were.

Got another vid to upload. 14 mins playing as engineer on hammer of visari showing of the graphics and gameplay. big upload though, 984mb. gonna take a while.

The ending really is such a cliffhanger. The Helghast are still fighting but under whos order? No mass that large operates without a leader.

Helgan still has ISA troops on it, are they done for?

Hope we haven't seen the last of Sev.

Question: After completing the game and starting a new campaign, does it reset all intel and symbols or will the ones I missed still be there? Basically I want to know if I should just use chapter select or new campaign.

Game was amazing and frustrating at the same time on veteran (with no HUD) to the point where I'm not sure I'm going to go through on elite lol. I'm not a hardcore FPSer. I may just dial it down to medium and replay the game to enjoy it some more without the frustration.

And BOY do I wish I knew about that walkway while fighting that air-mech thing. Fucking hell that was intense trying to dodge missiles around a pillar while trying to locate the bastard through smoke, blood, and saturated black and white screen.... FUCK is all I need to say to that. I also say it to the last boss who said something like "you go blah blah, I'll take care of them myself". BULLFUCKINGSHIT, DIPSHIT. He sent is entire army after me. Do NOT want to play that part on elite.

I love the saboteur class so much I couldn't resist the urge to come online and post my feelings in an emotional outpouring.

There is nothing greater then learning up oblivious newbies on the other team on saboteurs, especially newbies with mics.

Arg.. Killzone just froze my ps3 2 times in a row. One time with saboteur and the other with while using the scout. This is actually the first time it froze on me and it had to happen two times in a row.. I hope nothings wrong with my ps3 :(

They really need to let us know what's going on. I cant even get into a game that has Friendly Fire on. I cant even tell what type of latency/ping I'm getting. Only thing I know is the overall "mode type" and how many players. Those options are way less important to me than the former ones I've listed.

They need to give us a lot more server information. It's ridiculous that you actually have to join a server first to find out what its specific settings are. It completely defeats the purpose of a server list. They might as well just make it a quick game, instant matchmaking type deal, where you choose your parameters and it just finds the first open game for you. No point in bothering with a server list that provides no real information.

Yes all the symbols and intel you found will still be there when you start a new game.

Also you have to complete the level to keep the stuff.

So did I fuck up my sixaxis's or is anyone else have trouble with the motion to arm bombs? Have had some problem doing it earlier, but on the 4 chapter (after I have taken out some people on the roof with the MG) I can't get anything to work. It just drops down and enables the down left light and up right light, without me doing anything. And when I hold in R1 and L1, nothing happens. My first thougt was that it was my controller who had taken I bit to many hits, but when I tried my other 2 controlles nothing happened as well.

So now I am stuck, because I need to blow my way through the door.

FUCK AWESOME GAME SO FAR! NEED TO FINISH IT!!!

Plug your controller in, maybe that will help. Motion controlls never work for me until I plug it in to the system for some reason, I can then unplug it and play it normally. It only does it with this game too, which is odd.

BTW is the sniper speacialist 10 headshots or ten sniper kills? I already have got the ribbon 4 times, but for some reason I can't get it anymore.
No, i dont think so at least. I am missing some headshot ribbons, and i have gotten the sniper ribbon meanwhile. If i got 10 headshots with the sniper rifle, i think that i would have gotten the headshot ribbon as well :)

The controls are just different, not broken. Granted, they seem not to be easy to pick up for some people. But why not just give it a little time. It's obvious now that a lot of people don't like them, but a lot of people aren't having that rough a time adjusting. The game just came out. Why not try a little longer instead of everyone warring over it and insisting the game is either broken or perfect?

Tried Halo a bit recently and yes, the controls are incredibly responsive... they also almost feel too "perfect" compared to Killzone .. almost like, cheap.

I wouldn't worry so much about this, Guerilla can easily invent/introduce some sort of deus ex machina to keep this baby rolling. Like an administrative chamber that controls the Helghast (previously below Visari), or the military brass taking over and another Radec-style general/commander becomes the new main villain.

Same with how they just conjured that extra Helghast fleet out of fucking nowhere the proverbial hat - the ISA might have a couple extra fleets available or whatever.

If you ask a question like that, you should go Veteran. :p

Just prepare to get raped by Elite later on.

I played through on the normal difficulty level the first time i played through Killzone 2. I am not really sure how i would compare the difficulty level in Killzone 2 to other recent shooters, since i dont think i have played too many shooters on consoles recently, sorry :\

But i wouldnt say that i had any huge problems getting through Killzone 2 on the normal difficulty level. I did find some parts of the game kinda tough, but i did manage to get through the game eventually :)

EDIT: I added some text.

I'm not having as much fun with the MP as I would like to be having. The game looks fantastic, and the MP is deep, but I just hate the way the aiming feels. A lot. There have been times when I totally had the drop on people, but due the shitty response of the aiming, I was killed. Lame.

Fletcher said:
I'm talking running up behind people and then the stupid controls would make me shoot all around them, like a cartoon. Then they would notice shots being fired, turn around, and kill me. I really really want to enjoy the multiplayer. So I will keep playing and getting frustrated.

You realize that what your describing is your limitations as a shooter and not shitty response of the aiming. I mean technically the guy who you had the drop on is using the same aiming and controls you are and he shot you. Was that luck? Could be. But your saying its happened to you multiple times so isnt it more plausible that you got out played? Im pretty sure you cant blame the controls unless you COULD NOT have made the shot.

Obviously the other guy could just fine.

You should play Normal on your first go-around. You'll reduce the frustration while getting to relax and admire the sights a bit. Plus, you get the huge contrast when you move up to Veteran. It's cool to compare the way the A.I. works both times. Their tactics and their generally movement improves - they don't just deal and take more damage.

Go with Veteran if you want a challenge, but just know that there are a couple of parts in the game that will probably aggravate you if you haven't already gone through them once and know what to do.

I thought Visari's death speech made it pretty clear that NO ONE is leading the Higs now, it's just anger and chaos. Remember that the Helghast were a major political movement. Visari brought a purpose and order to the Helghans. His last words to me meant that when he dies, there won't be some power vacuum, and they won't collapse inward. They gave them a reason to fight and his death just unleashed them.

On Pyrrhus, I prefer saboteur.

Go as close as possible to the enemy spawn, disguise yourself, and go behind the enemy lines while shooting in the direction of your teammates or reloading.

And then.... profit :D

Small rant but here it is.

In multiplayer, this game is almost TOO hectic. Don't get me wrong, I can hold my own. I have a lot of experience in FPS's, posting a 1.75 k/d with a captain rank in KZ2 right now.
Playing last week wednesday to saturday was nice. nobody had turrets, most people were medics at most. Now, with cloakers, disguisers, air turrets and nade launchers.. there's almost too much shit going on that it isn't as tactical as I thought the game would be. Maybe I need to play in smaller games; especially considering that one third of the maps are TOO SMALL for 32 players. One or two maps in particular (don't know the names yet sorry) become a spawn killer's wet dream. Having opponents build 5+ turrets outside the spawn is fucking annoying. Also, I need to complain about the fuckers in this game that stack teams just to win. It's pathetic. Also, and I know these are problems with the players rather than the games but WTF @ nobody dropping spawn points and no medics. A lot of assholes not playing the game the way it's meant to be played which always pisses me off. Other that these quibbles, I'm really enjoying it still.

For people having problems in multiplayer, turn down your sensitivity to start with. I was at -2 -2 now I'm at -1 -1. You'll get use to the controls, and the learning curve will be a lot easier that way.

play smaller games? my team and I entered a 4v4 tournament and it was great. going over 16 players is crazy.

I really wish Seb Downie would make an account here instead of hanging out trying to wade though the thick shit of the official Sony forums.

I understand he has obligations to Sony, and thats really the right place for him to be, but he should do something like J Stevenson does here, where he can post on both.

Could be, but most likely not. I'm sure he has experience with other shooters.

The aiming is clearly different from other shootings (call it lag, weight, acceleration, whatever). I'm not going to say the intended purpose is wrong, but it's clearly NOT better.

It feels very unnatural at times and over aiming happens a lot.

EDIT:

I can stand the slower movement, what gets me is NEVER being sure how mush pressure on the stick to use to get to where I want to go. It's very frustrating.

Pretty sure he's too busy working on a patch at the moment to be posting on either.

I think this is supposed to be the ISA's
last available fleet. Supposedly they even had to borrow this fleet. Woops subprime spaceship borrowers lol

I think maybe the
UCN or universe government thing may step in. I don't see Sev dying. They would have to build up yet another character after Templar, Rico, and Sev.

hmm is it just me or do the majority of PC gamers who move onto this game without really playing Halo seem to prefer KZ2 controls? For me it just FEELS like proper CS controls gone to consoles (in terms of aiming, recoil, and movement). A lot of the CS players don't play on super twitch sensitivity, but rather quite low.

ahhh ok, thanks. Man thats a lot of reviving

Oh and it's really annoying playing body count and the game last all but 2 mins

5 in one round shouldn't be a problem at all as long as it's a normal length match. You'll get it in no time.

I prefer low sens because of the PC background. I used to have a 20'' mouse pad which I actually utilized the whole thing. Its strange coming from that to a console. Can't really compare

hey to get a revival ribbon, u gotta revive 5 people in 1 game or just a total of 5 in as many games?

5 people in 1 game, otherwise all your work counts for exactly nothing. You need to get it 8 time and unless I'm mistaken, it will only award you 1 ribbon at a time no matter how many times you healed in the game. It's easilly the worst part of the Multiplayer (and mobile spawns not having proximity restrictions to objectives).

Some of us are wanting a tactical shooter, not a hand/eye cordination tester.

Trust me, turn down your sensitivity. I had the same complaints, but, combined with smaller games/number of players, I'm coming around to it, and slowly increasing my sensitivity as I adjust to the way the game controls.
